Win a Super-Rare Signed Copy of Wolfenstein Platinum Edition

The platinum edition looks quite nice (may it be cherished by however is lucky enough)! However, giving the ‘most memorable’ moment is impossible for me. There are so many things - on so many levels. There is a reason that I’ve been playing it for so long. From the really small things, to have a ‘multikill’ or begging health packs from an enemy medic as covert ops, to the big things (I don’t know if it’s noquarter mod-specific) like pushing people off the bridge on goldrush as covert ops, getting a 25 killspree and dominating the post-game screen (hopefully not on the Darwin-award )

However, there is more! I started creating some maps for ET a few years ago. Most of them are ‘fun’ maps (a local bar I’ve recreated, a Ice-scating ramp, a level with glass cubes (and you have to shoot them to get to the enemy side) and many more). Some of them were ‘real’ maps most of them have ended in half-finished projects. Then I would usually play this fun maps with friends on mini-lan’s. It’s a great feeling to play on your own creation. I’d even try to customize the mods by some very basic ‘lua’ scripting. This is one of the reasons that I’ve decided to start studying IT and programming related stuff. If all goes well, I’ll be studying a game related master next year. I’ll be happy if I can make something that is close to ET !

tl;dr: ET is a great game. This is proven by that fact that it’s still (actively) played. The gameplay and teamplay is great and it’s the best game that I’ve ever played (Sorry for ET:QW & Brink, I’ve have played them both but I’m still going back to ET). The 9th anniversary proves this! Happy birthday for ET (and for me in 7 days )!

For me was trying out the Fueldump only beta.

I remember the first time me and some strangers thought about stealing a uniform as a covert ops and trying to sneak into the fuel dump and winning the map early. Nowadays that’s nothing special but back then I had never seen it happen nor had the other players.

So, when the tank reached the bridge and blew open the side grate I grabbed a uniform and me and a couple of engineers made a dash for it down the tunnel, was pretty exciting. We got up the ladders only to find a lone enemy, he was quickly taken down though was low and health now, my heart was really pumping now. Luckily no one else was around so we headed for the fueldump, still really giddy at this point. As expected no one was around, the engineers made two plants on the fueldump, global chat just exploded with calls of cheating and so on, was a really awesome moment.

It’s encounters like this that made W:ET awesome, trying out new ideas and such with strangers and having it pay off was really rewarding.

Has long way to beat the Brink one, that was mental.

I think my favorite moment was from a public game with some friends.
I was playing engineer on venice. It was the part of the map where you have to break into the library. I swam from the allied spawn to the constructible bridge. Little did I know 3 enemies were waiting around the corner, two of which were my friends on Teamspeak. I jumped out of the water, noticed them and opened fire. Within a few seconds it was all over. I killed them all with a single clip of the Thompson. 3 bodies lie before me, 2 medics and a field ops, proving that engineer is the actual rambo class in the game!

Of course Teamspeak exploded with chatter and laughter.

I’ve had so many good moments and met so many cool people through this game though. I also lies at the core of my pc addiction, I joined my first clan, learnt to use photoshop and radiant, started to get into coding, etc… all thanks to this game.

Another one of my most memorable experiences was when I was learning to Trickjump. I’d seen some videos on youtube of people jumping over the oasis wall and wanted to know how to do that. I spent at least 2 days messing around trying to figure it out. On the evening of the second day I met a guy who basically showed and taught me how to do those basic jumps and I completed my first gamma jump. It felt great to finally accomplish it and it opened up a whole new part of the game.

Trying to remember my favorite moment in ET brings up all these great memories.

When I was young, I played this game and shocked!! When I play as a team, I felt a lot of fun. I thought this game was soooooooooooo realistic! (at that time). Some mods and custom maps like cortex_who, etc multiplied the game’s fun.

My best in-game memory of this game was in Goldrush map. I was a german soldier, with a mobile MG42, first. When Allies’ tank headed to the bank, I deployed the MG42 and shoot everything what moves. My MG42 made Allies melt down. but unfortunately, due to its ammo limit, there was no field ops around me so I was killed by an Allies’ Thompson. after that, I became a field ops, Supporting my friendlies with ammo box, and a scary artillery support with my binocular. After the artillery support, I threw my signal grenade into the Allies’ spawnpoint, OMG THE PLANE GOT EVERYTHING; Smashed all enemy soldiers, unfortunately, A newly spawned enemy sniper with the backup of the spawnkill disallowing time made a hole on my head.

After that, I moved to Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, and lastly I moved to several games like Brink, Battlefield series from EA, ARMA series from Bohemia Interactive, etc.,

WolfET taught me the tactical FPS are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo exciting with its suspense of the war, teamworking, et cetera.
This game was my hero of early game life.

Danke Splash Damage.

Hmm the memory that stood out for me wasnt so much, something specific that happened in game - but rather a general mental shift of the way I thought shooters should be. So much so, that in the FPS realm I will only touch classed based shooters.

I believe my best moment in ET was playing with Panzerfaust on Warbell on some Polish server. I remember I got few multi kills in a row by killing Allies that were camping on a roof.

Are you serious?? I have alot of good memories. I’m not considering myself as a gamer, but one day my dear Sister and her current admirer came to us for a “family visit tour”. They said…there’s a really good free online multiplayer game called Enemy Territory…
You can imagine how I just blinked… Oo… when i was just a fledling in the Multiplayer Games’s World…
My sister had a fun “family & friends” clan so i joined to them. I quicky fell in love with this game, i was online everyday… funny, friendly guys and hilarious moments (I laughed mostly at myself)…

So… Thanks for all of the nice memories, reasons for damning, lot of hours, rockets to my face, knives in my back, poison injection in my ass to everyone who worked on this game!!! And Thanks to everyone (players, ET Team), who make these years funny for me and who suffer my fools gladly & quietly…

I got a lot of new friends, hilarious moments, and good years from this game that I wouldn’t trade for ANYTHING!

This is the only game I really love, even after all these years.

I am happy every day on relaxing ET games if I come from the work
I am happy every day this ET is still not boring and CoD and BF3 leaves me cold
I am happy every day if new maps or mods gives to discover
and I dream from time to time ET gets a brother

This one moment isn’t really W:ET, but more RtCW itself related:

It was about 9 (almost 10) years ago when W:ET was still in diapers and RtCW was on it’s peak. Right after the school I came back to my house together with classmates just to play around with computer games (from my class company I was the only one with more or less adequate computer for games) and for some reason I thought that I should show them this super awesome game which I’ve been playing for a while (not really for a long time - maybe several months. It was Return to Castle Wolfenstein, of course.

I gave my seat to one of mates who haven’t had a chance so far to use computer, not to speak of playing games on it and quickly showed him which buttons do what and told him to try it out. At that moment it was Ice map going on and I was near Allied spawn as soldier with sniper. That was the moment when I gave the controls to him. Of course, first reactions were as expected - chaotic looking and walking around and then I realized that there’s no way he would kill someone even if it was soldier with Panzerfaust and the enemies would be standing to the wall and not moving.

Just for illustrative purpose I’ve taken this picture in W:ET Ice map

And then came the part which I still remember clearly - he was standing somewhere here (see picture above) when he randomly shot unscoped Mauser in the trees, just to see/hear how the gun works. And for my surprise, he did a headshot for some unlucky bastard jumping (or sliding) down the hill side. I was so surprised, that I was staring in screen and couldn’t believe what I just saw (considering how great spread is for RtCW Mauser), but for him it was all like “Oh, cool, nice sound!” and nothing more.

Needless to say - after this experience he didn’t play computer games anyway - wasn’t his thing. But this one moment was just so amazing that I still remember it as just happened.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory experience

In W:ET I haven’t had much of great in-game moments, at least not such ones which I would remember just as bright as episode described above. It was more like entertainment with friends only - I haven’t played much W:ET without my friends (real life, not just e-buddies) - thanks to W:ET I’ve made several real life friends with whom I still keep in touch, have a beer with them and entertain as virtually, so in real life together.

Enemy Territory for me is most recognizable not because of some totally badass pwning noobs (it was impossible as for me, so for my team - we were low-- skilled. When we were lucky - we could beat maybe low+ teams) but of frequent private LAN parties (variating from 4 to 12 players on site) where all of us would take our huge monitors (17’ - 21’ CRT) and computer cases and take them by feet to nearest private new construction site (which happened to be for most of us about 1-2km far away) where was roof above head and electricity available, set up network and just play for whole night or two W:ET.

One of such locations before setting up computers

And, of course, of the good times in both RtCW and W:ET reminds me my fanboi chair (pics from topic are gone, but here’s a proof that I still have it! After 6 years long farting sessions in it, it had to be repaired only once!

I started in September 2008 to play with friends without any plan 3 and how the game was played.
Our first map was a sniper map, and there were also players from a clan.
We were talking about us on skype and played very hard in the team so we are always 2 or 3 to one of the meeting was over.

As a result, the player was always against the then reaches 2 or 3 hits
We were referred to as a cheater and asked to TS 2 to Connecten order to make the plain.
No sooner said than done as the fashion we played made the curious clan line and we joined the clan.
There, I started to ask me diest in the game which I still very much fun preparing.

I have a clan now own and oversee several other friend’s clan.
I create my own cards with the sniper Gtk Radiant 1.4 and 1.5
and play on one of my four Wolfenstein servers or on one of the many others there.

I rejoice that just me this game is still as much fun preparing and I can give back a lot of comunity because it gives me a lot.
Through them I learned English and found many new friends in the whole world

Thank Wolfenstein Splash team and for the wonder full time and the best game there in the world.

When I played all those clan matches with my buddies… When I had nothing better to do than play ET all the time… I love the nostalgia that comes with this game - Wolf:ET defines my childhood.

There are too many good memories with this game… One that pops up right now is discovering the Efterlyst or BIOS servers, the pure joy that must have been expressed in my face when I found semi-professional pub servers!

There’s still one moment which hasn’t happened… MFW I see the Enemy Territory remake you will make with the same, even better gameplay; thus the franchise rescurrected!

My greatest moment is not really a single moment. I’ve had too many great moments.

What’s worth more to me, are the countless players that have been actively playing this game over these past nine years. Servers come and go, but the faithful players always stick around. I have hardly played in the past 4 years due to wrist problems, but whenever I login to play and I see these same guys and girls playing, having fun as they did many, many years ago, it just strikes me emotionally and I wish I could be on the server with them, all day, every day.

Thank you Splash Damage and id Software for this wonderful game; no other game means as much to me as this one.

Yay, found the image I took in 2010 of my original disc from Tesco.

Oh my, I remember all the pictures, words & convo’s in that magazine. Many times did I take it to the toilet, and many times did I read it. I also used to take my RtCW manual to school with me.

<3 2003-2006.

Disc loaded:

2003 when I got my first 1000+XP (before XP save ofc).

OMG I FOUND THE IMAGE :D, SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FROM IN MY HEAD, BUT TEXT IS THERE
I’VE LOOKED FOR THESE IMAGES SINCE 2006 NOW.

My favorite memories of ET have to be when we were transitioning over from RtCW and my friend and I immediately began looking for sneaky ways to complete the objectives, lay mines, hit people with the mortars etc. We’d sit around and spend hours perfecting mortar shots by first having a location that was obscure and always reliable to get into the same position, and then have a spotter tell us where shots were landing. When we’d find prime “high traffic” areas we’d copy down the coords. Nothing like camping Axis on Goldrush from the second spawn for Allies.

But the memory that probably sticks out the most for me is when we were trying to figure out sneaky plants on Oasis. First we thought the North Gun was too high to do a 2 man stack (2 players total) and we’d have to rely on other people to help us plant (3 man). When that was outlawed in leagues, where 2 man stack was the maximum allowed, we said fine - we’ll still get this done. We figured out a way to do our two man stack by the top person jumping and throwing their dynamite straight up in the air and it’d land on the edge. Then, both players jump up while holding down to arm the dynamite.

Obviously, this left us very vulnerable to Axis but with almost everyone else assuming a 2 man stack couldn’t be accomplished, there was less incentive for them to go out and clear the back. Well, we did this a few times until we were told straight out that stacking at all is ‘illegal’ and we would start to forfeit matches because “it couldn’t be done!”… whatever.

So then we figured out a way where we’d go into the gun room, and we’d aim the dynamite just right where it would be thrown far enough out that only one spot were you able to arm or disarm it. Players would go in, try to reach for it but because they were either moving, or weren’t in the right spot - they were unable to disarm. Of course, it helped that we were chuckin 'nades in through the back.

I don’t claim that my friend and I ever were the ‘first to discover’ any of these things (we have a million more) but we were the first as far as we knew… Anytime we had done these things, we’d see them slowly become the norm … but we’d never seen them prior to us.

Allied mortar shooting into the Axis bunker on Battery, anybody? You guessed it…

One of my favourites moments is:
I was in skype and talked with a friend here in germany. The Volume of his speakers were very very loud,We both played fueldump. His mother came into my friend´s room and commanded him to bring the trash out. Suddendly I pressed “v52” 10 times in a row, because I got killed as an axis player.
The wolfenstein SoundEngine choosed to replay the one certain energetic axis “Nein!!!”, as one word!
His mother was so scared after that, that she brought the trash herself away.
I think mother thought her son was screaming to her xD
After that he pressed v43 for Danke! around 10 times in a row that he neednt go out to do the nasty work.
Wolfenstein, a life saver^^
