We need a list of the REAL bugs/exploits in this game

I think stacking is a non issue, unless leagues want to ban stacks of more than 2 - thats their business. {Carcifier} The map makers knew about stacking and straffing, im sure the beta testers tried all these things out. Bank vaults missing texture/shader and maps where you can go landsharking are map flaws more than bugs, and dont radically affect map balance.

the tap out bug is another Ive been wondering about. I think making it easy to gib the fallen is intentional. There may also be situations where a player is gibbed when not being fired on - the tap out bug. these mystery tap outs may also be intentional - SD never commented on it, we can only assume.

end of game stats bugs really dont affect gameplay, so I consider them minor. actions to whore XP or actions that result in no XP only suck for the XP minded : ) the hit box issues, as per another thread, arent really bugs, just a reality of server side bandwidth we’ll have to live w/ for now.

More generally, smoke is invisible through either water OR windows - any transparent surface. So if you put a smoke grenade on one side of water or windows, the smoke is invisible from the other side.

( the bug is more noticable and easier to reproduce though windows than water )

the better question is : do the game designers consider it an exploit.

from what i have been told, the ET prerelease betatesters had been doing stacking on oasis to do plants, and the developers knew about it.

now if the developers considered it an exploit, dont you think they would have removed it by now?

Well if you hit ready in the post match wrap-up it should start LOADING the next map, once in the next map if you all (both) hit F3 you will signal ready and the map will start without further count down…

I am pretty sure that the “Ready” button has no affect on the warmup period… only F3 singals ready for that…

Reload might not work if you’re strafing while reloading.

The other day, I was playing as allies on wurzburg radar, and we blew the side door and captured the radar parts while the rest of the team were struggling for the forward bunker. We got east & west radar parts to the truck before we blew the main gate… early victory we thought. It wasn’t - the game carried on going. Even after we blew the main gate the game didn’t end and the radar parts were definitely in the truck and the radar sites themselves folded up.

We tried calling restarts, but the axis team decided they’d rather win a pointless game than start again, so I left after a while. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this bug.

Level4 discomfort (both weapons under same weaponbank) is already known. However:

[b] 1.If you have level4 Heavy Weapons, won’t have 2 BIG weapons unless you manually click “OK” in limbo (because Thompson/Mp40 is already selected).

  1. Akimbo pistols are unavailable until you manually select them in Limbo

  2. If you have level4 Heavy, and start with SMG, you have to press the key TWICE to switch to your bigger weapon. After that it’s just 1 press for switching, but that double pressing after spawn makes me mad

I’ve noticed that sometimes when I plant a dynamite near an objective (fuel depot,…) and i’m blown up with the explosion : i didn’t win any XP.

  • Mines dissapearing: sometimes mines dissapear in thin air without ever hitting the ground or anything else. This happened when I tried to plant some landmies directly behind the driving truck at GoldRush. It was on the first uphill passage to the first truck barrier, usually mines can be planted there. They also often dissapear at Railgun around the track switch and the nearby stairs up to the tower at the allied spawn.

  • as CovOps when I’ve reloaded my sniper rifle I often have to press secondary attack 3 times to go back to scoped view

  • at one server sometimes in mid-game my view would jump all the way down (looking at my shoes) or all the way up (looking into the sky) This happened several times at unpredictable moments and only on this server (happened on vanilla RtCW, too, sometimes)

Very minor ‘bug’

When using autorecord action, the name of the demo being recorded is displayed on screen, obscuring last line of the chat hud area. Possibly just change it to ‘demo recording’ and be done with it?

1. When someone is killed by a teammate, the weapon used isn’t printed. The weapon used should be included in both the globally-printed obituary, and especially the offer to complain.

Some might call this a feature request, but I consider it a big, big bug. So many newbies wander into mines or airstrikes and complain without even knowing why they died. Other times, I get idiot Coverts complaining on me, and yelling that I shot him, even though he just chased my grenade.

Additionally, if all players could see what weapons a TKer had been using, they’d have a better idea of how to vote for kicking him.

2. A related (but more minor) problem, is that if a teammate is mining around your own spawn to cause grief, there’s no way to find out who planted them without dying on a mine. If you aim directly at a landmine flag for 1/2 second, the planter’s name should pop up.

3. Another minor problem that I almost consider a bug: It’s hard to tell who players are on the command map. On the limbo map, if you mouseover a friendly player, it should tell you his name. And if you are dead, and you click on a teammap on the limbo-map, you should switch to observing him.

That is a “feature” of shrub-mod. Sometimes it’s intentional (administrator can “slap” players around). It seems to happen on its own, too.

It does that on no shrub mod servers too, I forget the details but is was used as an exploit through some glitch in Urban Terror but to a more extreme degree, don’t know if it’s related in ET.

Everything Pamper said REALLY needs to be done.
Especially number one.

Also, what [B]Repoman said is something I would love to see happen.
As it is now, I almost never record demos.
I just can’t, because I would not be able to see what my team is saying, which you just really need to be able to see.
I really would like to record demos of every game i play start to finish, but I can barely stand recording a 20 second demo now, its just so annoying.

I made my way up to level 4 heavy weapons once. After a while I switched to medic. I was unable to swap my empty thompson with a mp40 like I usually can. I didn’t think at the time to switch back to heavy weapons and select the pistol instead of the thompson for my secdonary so I’m not sure if that was the problem or not. I’m not sure if this bug is consistent or not, because I’ve only been level 4 heavy weapons once so I haven’t had another chance to test it.

I haven’t seen this posted in this thread yet. You can’t select your spawn during warmup. If you select a different spawn then when the game begins you’re back at the default spawn.

Another one has to do with rifle grenades. If you shoot a rifle grenade, and then immediately try to put on another one it messes up. It will play the sound of putting on a grenade, and the grenade icon with your rifle ammo will show up in the ammo indicator. It won’t play the animation for loading a rifle grenade. If you hold fire after this, it won’t fire. It will go through the animation for taking off the rifle grenade. You can press the alternate button again to fix this.

I noticed this too. If you turn the track switch down and you want to place mines if it’s still lowering, the mines will disappear. Only if it’s fully lowered you can ‘safely’ place mines.

If you want to place dynamite in the tug in railgun or on the truck in Gold Rush, the dynamite slides off. Okay it’s not needed to place dynamite there, but you prevent the axis a bit to escort the tug.

Yesterday I played a 2v1 on a public server on the map Goldrush, I was allied. At the beginning it was me and an another player against a lone one (I was on the “2-player team”). We was in the Bank Courtyard. I got killed and tapped out to limbo. My teammate standed still and I wondred why. When it was 3 seconds left until next respawn, he changed team. And here is the bug; I saw what he saw as Axis! The view did not change to “view of his dead body”, it changed to his view as Axis. Also the respawnclock changed to the Axis. I don’t know if it works when its 3 on the team since it should change to the third player, but it surely is a bug.

In short this makes you see in limbo what your teammate sees when he changes team until your next respawn. It doesn’t change to view his dead body. You must follow him before he changes team.
