Covert Ops level 3 improves accuracy of most firearms, including Thompson and mobile MG.
We need a list of the REAL bugs/exploits in this game
Yes, the invisible flamethrower cheat from RTCW. I gave SD the fix for this and they chose not to use it.
RTCW banimod fixes it though, and if activision ever lets me get the source I’ll fix it in ET too.
Sometimes ppl can’t be shoot out of the tank
Instant-Tap-Out bug / ppl lying on the ground waiting for a medic die to fast
Both of these have to do with the way hitboxes are done on players in the tank and players who are prone. There’s a thread about this on the general forum. Basically, when players are in the tank their head hitbox gets sunk into their chest, so shooting the model’s head will inflict no damage. Also, you can’t shoot through the model of the tank MG, so you have to either hit the player from the sides or aim a little off center to reliably score damage.
Prone characters or those down waiting for a medic have a head hitbox that is exactly where it would be if they were crouched. This means firing directly over a downed player can inflict headshot damage and force them into limbo. So while it looks like they have tapped out right when a medic was about to revive them, its equally possible that the medic or attacker killed the patient during the firefight. Medics would be well advised to draw the attacker away from their patient before going in guns blazing for a revive.
bug where tank shows damaged , but cannot be repaired
This one has to do with the vehicle waypoint system and when it evaluates its broken state. This does allow the allies to move the tank entirely across the bridge even if the tank gets damaged while halfway across. However, if an engie tries to repair the tank while its moving it will lead to this behavior. A fix would be for the tank to ignore all attempts at repair until after it hits a waypoint. In the meantime, engies will just have to be patient and wait for the tank to actually show its broken state before trying to fix it.

Not really a bug, but influences gameplay badly:
There’s no xp reward for shooting at tank, just 7-10 exp for disabling it. Single panzerfaust soldier needs lots of time (3 direct hits) to disable the tank, and often gets no reward for that. No wonder there are few people who bother throwing grenades or shooting panzer at the tank. It seems that Panzerfaust is WORST ANTI-VEHICLE WEAPON in the game. Airstrike or artillery does the trick much faster, same goes for Mortar althrough on Gold Rush you may not be able to hit it.
If someone has PAnzerfaust, and can see both tank and enemy soldier, in most cases (like 80% shoots it at that soldier, no matter how far is he from the tank.
Instead of bonus for disabling the vehicle, I suggest that each hit that damages it is rewarded with
1 exp to prevent abuse, especially true for engies
3 for Panzerfaust (much more damage).
time is usually fucked up at the end of the round with some if not all people displaying a time of over 1000
-
AutoAction (record demo, screenshot, stats dump) broken. Demo doesn’t always start recording. Only appears to start if the server goes through its “ready up” phase.
-
Can’t rewind in demo’s (a bigger issue than a sten that doesn’t overheat if you ask me)
- ready button between maps seems to do nothing and the 60 sec time is way to much anyway. Could this time be used to start loading next map perhaps?
- lots of issues with the demo menu like timescale and pov carried into game afterwards
- not really a bug, but still annoying: the spawnpoint numbers have no logic so scripting is very hard, also class selection being linked with side needs improvement
- hitboxes and some plantareas need fixing (fueldump, railgun, oasis guns…)
- speech bug when 2 gold crates are taken immediately after another
- about scoreboard:frags being taken over from previous maps sometimes so highest fragger is incorrect, and as mentioned the accuracy stat probs with lots of weapons. Also welcome newbie award is not what it’s said to be in the manual ? Then what is it ?
- every time after spawn you switch as level 4 soldier to smg requires two keystrokes
- at least 2 places in watertunnels where you can get stuck behind invisible walls
- no spawn autoswitch to flag as allies when flag captured in seawall battery
It does. I think all players have to press it then it bypasses the 60 sec countdown.
Works if you run a dedicated=no server.

Well I must have played a thousand maps by now, so that’s 1000 minutes wasted for some guy to press ready cuz it has NEVER HAPPENEND that the timer doesn’t take a full minute. NEVER  Not even in 1vs1
If everyone hasn’t pressed the ready button by the time the counter reaches 0, the match wont start until they do. If everyone presses it, then the match will start when the counter reaches 0.
You have to wait 60 seconds no matter what. (this is how its worked for me all the time anyway)
[ul][li]Sometimes mines are not defusable - your only chance to escape is to jump off (or to kill yourself).
[/li][*]There is a bug at radar that sometimes causes the dyno at the main/side door to disappear.[/ul]
if everyone presses ready, then it bypasses the countdown. i’ve confirmed this works.
Brinkman, this thread is a good idea.
May I suggest that rather than occasionally make a summary posting that you instead just edit the initial post of the thread to list the bugs noted here.

Well then there must be a bug involved…
Because I’ve played plenty of 1 on 1’s and we’ve both hit the ready button, and the countdown still ensues.

Maybe the bug, if there is one, is related to the type of game being played: stopwatch, objective, campaign, OLTL. Just a thought.

To the best of my knowledge that’s neither a bug nor an exploit. At least for the South Gun as I’ve planted there MANY times with only 2 people… and a 2 person stacking is legal in match play.

This is the kind of stuff that amazes me. People who are incapable of thinking. And they are everywhere…
Ask yourself this one question to know if you are being a dumbass…“Do you honestly believe, that the game designers intended for this to occur??”
If the answer is yes, you are probably not cheating/exploiting. If the answer is no, you obviously are!
Why would anyone develop gameplay, so that someone could stack on top of someone else???
That is absolutely insane. And clearly a exploit. The fact that you said it’s allowed in match play, just makes me thankful I never deal with people who participate in that.
UNFRIGGIN REAL The whole “well I can do it the game, therefore it must be ok” shit is truly amazing. “I mean, if the designers didn’t want me to do it, they would have made sure I can’t.”
Sigh.

The six maps that came with ET were play tested pretty thoroughly from what I understand. That so many different sources thought up stacking on oasis shortly after the release of the game makes me think that it probably happened during the testing as well. Thus, I suspect that the map designers know about it and did not think it to be a gameplay-breaking exploit that required fixing.
It is pretty difficult to pull off this stacking manuever if the axis are paying attention to their defense. It doesn’t take much to stop it. Was it intended to occur? I don’t know. Did the map designers know about it? I dunno, but I imagine they do.

Playing without thought… who could that be…
The one that gives the allies uniforms on battery?
The one that doesn’t like to get the jump on his enemies by shooting at them quick?
Or the one who thinks you need to point at a bad guy to see if its a covert everytime, instead of just watching your map?
I wouldn’t take anything Carcifier says as more than a good joke. :disgust:
Campaigns last for 3 maps, and XP will reset at the end of the third map. Using standard map rotations, any rank you have at the end of fueldump or goldrush will be lost when the map is switched. This is by design. Some servers have altered their campaign files to allow 6 or 10 map campaigns, so these would be good places to play if you like having high level classes and lots of XP.

What he meant was that if you earn the rank of Brigadier General (Generalmajor) or higher, then when you switch to the next map, your rank will be Colonel (Oberst). You’ll still have all the XP, just your rank will be wrong. If you haven’t made General yet, then the next time you advance in one of your remaining skills, rank will be fixed. However, if you make General, there is no way you can advance, so your rank remains at Colonel for the rest of the game.
One other bug related to ranks is that the abbreviations for allied/axis generals are mixed up. The way it is in game is as follows:
GMj Brigadier General
GLt Lieutenant General
Gen General
BGn Generalmajor
LtG Generalleutnant
Gen General
Obviously those should be the other way around. Of course, you could fix this yourself without a patch by editing qagame.mp.i386.so (or windows equivalent) Maybe later I’ll patch that one myself.
Woah calm down Rocksteady.
I was wondering… have you ever used “10 fingers” to boost somebody to a place they couldn’t reach in real life? Ever make a treehouse as a kid or something? Ever try to climb something out of your reach so you used a friend to boost you up?
If you don’t believe that was intended to happen in real life then clearly you were CHEATING in the game of life, and should be smoded by the forces that see over you. Because clearly life wasn’t intended for intelligent people.
You need to calm down and think that all it is, is people will brains developing ways of decieving the enemy… and in that case I’m not so shocked that you don’t do it…
