(DarkangelUK) #64

I have to jump in here sorry, but i did that interview with Kevin Cloud and he said he thinks RTCW2 on the D3 engine would rock… he never actually said it was gonna be made on it. And that interview was for Id, not Activision.

(mouse) #65

rofl. You know on how much pages that was posted dont you? (like ehmm… Every community page :D). v583!

(DarkangelUK) #66

RO: Any hint of RtCW2 further down the road with the very impressive looking Doom 3 engine?

KC: The DOOM engine would be perfect for it

saddly i lost my copy of that interview in a HD crash. If anyone (for some bizarre reason) has a full copy, could they send it to me?

(Sauron|EFG) #67

Only took you nine months to correct that  and now we now that RTCW2 is being developed on the D3 engine.

(DarkangelUK) #68

I was onto them months ago, i win \o/ :stuck_out_tongue:

And i wasnt correcting myself, i was correcting FstFingrz. I even remember writing the news peice and stating i inteviewed Kevin Cloud of Id Software

from a swiss site
(http://www.gbase.ch/index.asp?zone=pc&target=news&typ=gnews&write_id=26239)

“In a feature on Doom 3 on Pulse (the G4Tech TV show), Todd Hollenshead confirmed that RTCW2 is in development at another studio. There was no mention of the engine it would be on, but i`m guessing the Doom 3 one will be most likely. This was posted over at the GameSpy forums, and a member from #planetdoom IRC on GameSurge who was watching Pulse said the announcement was correct.”

Grey Matter Studios are making RTCW2

(beatsntoons) #75

That’s what I’ve heard as well.

If I’m not mistaken, my mysterious sources have told me SDs new game is a NEW game. Entirely independant from the DOOM, Quake and Wolf franchises.

Gray Matter did a sterling job with RtCW, and if they are in truth developing RtCW2, then that’s great news! Can’t wait to see it, as the RtCW franchise (along with the DOOM franchise) are my favourite games.

(Loffy) #76

rtcw2 would rock. Whatever sd is doing atm with the doom3 engine will rock. (Is it possible to buy SD-stocks on any stock-market?).

Gray Matter have been (and still are?) working on Call of Duty: United Offensive, and I doubt they have been working on two D3 engine projects at the same time. It’s certainly possible they are involved in some way, but some other studio is most likely doing most of RtCW2.

(beatsntoons) #78

Okay, then it’s possibly Nerve.

The company is also working to secure a deal for a follow up to 2001’s “Return to Castle Wolfenstein.” In a recent television interview, Hollenshead inadvertently announced the sequel, but because of delays in signing a third party developer (id will not be making the game itself, but overseeing development of it) he is now a bit gunshy on the topic.

I’m not sure what to make of that.

“It goes without saying that there will be a ‘Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2’ in the future,” he said. “I mean, the first game sold over a million copies. The sequel is a matter of time and logistics.”

(boomart) #80

Okay, as we wont get any info about ID’s related games from SD, can SD give us some infos about their OWN projects ?
I mean, new maps or totally different projects ? like a whole new game or something ?
