I must have a look at Doom 3, if SD is involved in parts of that project. I mean, SD did Marketgarten and ET. I cannot count the huge amount of hours that I have spent in those worlds having fun.
As allied, pick the sniper rifle. Run (and survive) up the bridge, and sit on bridge (ah, that wind sound) and dominate the area. Untill they find you.
Joy!

We’re not making ‘multiplayer’ - id are doing that. We’re making the maps for it (and I imagine id will want to tweak them as necessary themselves once we’re done :)).
Although, to be fair, we’re doing our best to persuade id to make Doom3 turn-based, and play-by-mail. And in black and white. And only available on four-track cartidge.
:moo:
I bought this great card punching machine last summer from this guy that said it was THE thing to have for the future! But since then, I haven’t seen any major releases on this medium
So could splashdamage plz make an unofficial statement whether or not RTCW2 will come out on punching card otherwise I’m going to put it away in my garage :bored:
Oh, don’t worry. Doom3 will be turn based for many of us…
“Oh let me get another beer while that frame renders”

Ditch the card machine d00d! It only being released as a vacuum tube diagram . . .
Windows? nah . . . Linux? nah . . . ENIAC? Oh yes…

- about same time SD places job ad for their “new” multiplayer project.
I think the new multiplayer project you mention refers to the development of the d3 multiplayer levels. Splash damage is most definetly doing those according to the interviews I’ve read.
Regarding our Jobs page, we provided some detail on our new project to ensure that prospective applicants understood what we were recruiting for and why we needed a Graphics Programmer with OpenGL experience. That’s the only time we’ve talked about our other project; what’s known publicly is that it is in collaboration with id Software and Activision and that it is a complete game that’s based on the Doom 3 engine. There was the risk that an applicant might think it was for Doom 3 Multiplayer otherwise.
As everyone knows, we’re also co-developing levels with id Software for Doom 3 multiplayer, but they are making the whole game themselves. Both projects have represented a significant gear shift for Splash Damage.
I’m not sure that Bongoboy’s ‘hired hands’ explanation for why we can’t tell you stuff is necessarily accurate – we are an independent company and under guidance, make our own decisions, but I agree that it’s true of most game development processes that the publisher and executive producers generally have a better sense of how, when and why games and their features should be announced.
In general though, I think that when games are announced too early it tends to lead to too much hype (often unsustainable) and future disappointment for gamers. It’s also clear from Wolf: ET that detailing a game’s features too early can lead to plagiarism by other companies. (Yes I know! Who are we to talk?)
The short answer then, is that nobody at Splash Damage will comment in any way about any aspects whatsoever of our newest project (or Doom 3 multiplayer). Anything you hear can be dismissed as pure conjecture unless it comes from id Software, Activision or ourselves.
Speaking of which, check out the latest UK PC Zone for Part 2 of John Carmack’s interview in which he mentions some of the cool technology we’ve been playing with here at Splash Damage.
Paul/Locki.
Geez, this thread really went down the tubes.
Just be patient, if sd does have any new stuff coming out, we will all hear about it (from them) eventually…
lol…
was reading an interview about Doom3 and read into this:
GS: I know Todd had mentioned in a recent television interview that a sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein is in the works. Can you guys comment on the progress of the development of that?
TH: Well, I probably said more than I should have in that interview, so I’ll refrain from digging myself farther into a hole. [Laughs]
thought id just post it here cuz i liked reading it!
