Your moot (i almost felt like adding “just as your modded mod” but it’s a bit too harsh). The whole point of a beta is to point out the flaws and express our opinion about the game, find bugs and express our opinion the game again. I almost shed a tear for you.

And they said they would fix the hit detection, nothing about the accuracy itself or crosshairs (which is 3 different things).

good point. methink QW has per-model hit detection.

still, there is somthing not right, the feeling, you know… but, i think we should trust guys from SD - evry part of this game has a purpose, it’s not some bunch of random ideas put togeather by EA :wink:

also i have slightly noticed mouse acceleration, can i turn it off in game somewhere like in ET? because it totally ruines my aim :roll:

Actually ETQW uses hitboxes like older games. There was a semi-recent interview that addressed this issue… not sure where it is, but I read it.

Locki commented on how they originally used per-pixel hit detection but people would frustratingly miss a lot at their intended targets. So then they upped the damage to guns, but fights became more random - whoever was lucky enough to land those key 2 or 3 early hits would win. So then they took that all out and went back to hitboxes.

I said it before and I’ll say it again - I think the hit detection and weapon accuracy in the game is excellent and largely doesn’t need to be changed, maybe a tiny bit of tweaking if any at all.

another question, hitboxes for all or only infantry? cause i did some testing on tormentor and this looks pretty like per-pixel detection. (try shooting around this pointy things on his top)

Has anyone recorded demos for ET:QW yet?

I missed out on the beta (don’t have anything that could run it anyway) and would love to see how a match looks / runs.

If anyone can be bothered, a DivX copy posted onto Stage6 would be appreciated :smiley:

What’s a modded mod?

Bust on my mod if you wish, but it has nothing to do with the thread (and so you’re making it personal and ruining your own credibility in the process). The mod must not be that bad, it has the most players of all the mods.

Let’s keep the thread on topic. The reason I posted it is because this thread is based on the premise of people judging the game in total based on a beta. Let’s put this into perspective here. Some may have put it in the proper context (presenting their arguments as issues with the beta and need fixing) while others are pushing their views as the game is ruined and not worth anything unless feature X is added or fixed. That’s not the right way to go about providing feedback and it makes the poster look childish.

I’m sorry you took my post personally Sneaky, as it certainly was not made with you in mind, however, if you feel it was an attack at you perhaps you should look at the reasons you took it like that.

Indeed that was the major point of my last post. You in particular are always quick to jump on me, and I would appreciate it if you followed your own advice (see the quote above).

If you really care for real proof, just do some research yourself. There are plenty of sources for this kind of information.

Ive quite enjoyed this game

nice to play a game that is based on team effort for example medics reviving fallen players and also other players covering your back

i like the gameplay although il be honest i dont actually care for graphics since its the gameplay im far more interested in but the beta has been fun and worth while to play

after yesterdays update it has been harder to aim for me but others take me down much easyer, like this update was against me :S bah maybe just im not good and the mouse delay doesnt help too, i move my mouse and 300msec later it affects the game, this is actually for every other controller too, every axial movement in this game has lag.
also the hyperblaster is slightly overpowered, at the beginning thinking that it overheats and it has to spin some time before fires but that is all OK, i shoot in bursts, i even use it for sniping in mid ranges, aim for the head and it goes there :slight_smile: that gun i luv. when i play GDF im usually the worst and i dont get it, when im strogg a guy with an GPMG pops out and takes me to half health with only 3 hits, i barely hit anybody… bah maybe just my imagination playing here, maybe i just haven’t got used to GDF weaponry(playing mostly strogg).

I believe the claim was that it has ‘the most players’.
Don’t equate #servers to #players, they’re not as linked as you assume.
For example, ETPro has by far the most #servers, yet #players it is usually ranked 3rd or 4th in charts during any sampling time of ALL servers in the master browse list. However, some days when ETTV gets busy on matches, I believe you will see the player counts jump significantly.

In anycase, lets get back to a statistic that actually is relevant – #players . My information comes from 2 sources. Gamespy and custom scripts which query browse-list registered servers directly and extract the info available. Both suggest the same thing.

Gamespy --> http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/mods.asp?id=813&s=1 is usually a good solid source for this comparison. Though last few days they’re not showing ETPro. So I have archived an old grab taken last month:
