if you want to play quake wars, then play quakewars and not a mod, you can use skilth mini and replace strogg team models with germans, and the game would be a remake of wolf ET, and a basic brink. a modern day CS source and so on and so on

have a few copies of vs 2005, and none of them work and install. put the skilth mod in the base folder and g_usecompilsedscripts 0 in your autoexec or in the console when on the main menu, more of the as is now mod should work…

Thanks for telling me, I wasn’t sure what game types I liked until then. btw ‘random’ isn’t the word you’re looking for, I’m guessing English isn’t your first language but the word is ‘hotfix’ :slight_smile:

there are so many mods for quakewars http://www.moddb.com/mods?filter=t&kw=Search+…&released=def&style=def&theme=def&game=182&type=def there should be 40+ active with download able files and a 100 more that never get released

quakewars maps are too small, and why alot of people never chose quakewars to make a mod, so they use UDK instead,

modders are like game companies searching for whats needed without a licence, except some modders who make indy games can become another splash damage if they make a good game

quakewars is dead and past its sell by date, no company will ever release a patch for a game 4 years after the last patch and for a game that doesnt really have many servers or community life. quakewars would need 2000+ people on servers a week

the games atmosphere… brink is quakewars with player customization, they have changed nothing much else, outside of the engine, brink probaly isnt using any new scripts for deployables etc, brink is just quakewars with a face lift and alot of bugs added

there is no difference from quakewars to wolf ET. quakewars just needs a few tweaks and models. and then its exactly the same game,

the name means nothing if its exactly the same game. quakewars has the best engine for a mod and included with vehicles, you can do all types of vehicles with

a brink SDK would be worthless except for mini mods that just tweak brinks gameplay… brink has no vehicles and can only use the same size megatextures for terrains

when UT2k3 came along, the engine and game had everything, and the possibilities and imagination of your mod could go alot further then making a mod in that crap fest of the doom 3 engine, unreal took over the world of modding, and then came along UDK

+there is no point buying that resistance game, it could just be a total conversion mod for quakewars, if the maps where bigger and models had lipsyncs

like everyone, quakewars engine dev like UDK with bigger maps and lipsync. total conversions mods can be crysis, fallout, brink, battlefield,teamfortress,counterstrike and 100 more, all for $5-10 each, or just normal SP games, with more intelligent Ai

quakewars engine runs on windows, mac, linux and has dedicated servers… brink and rage do not, quakewars renderer is good for 10 more years

doom 3 and quake 4 engines under GPL are a waste of time

i know. especially for total conversion mods… you cannot use d3 or q4 engines to make a good mod. they are featureless, and the code is full of bugs and the renderer doesnt work with high polys

in quakewars, if you get in a chopper, you are on the otherside of the map in 3 or 4 seconds, in UT and other games flying around it will take you a minute or 2

you are all too much like id and have no imagination, and all dedicated to the same old crappy gameplay, and get all hype about the renderer when everything else is crap

quakewars is the most complete game and engine that idtech has, and id should release like a UDK dev pack, and leave modder be for 10 years, and tell all modders to use it at all future quakecons, all they have to do is code scripts and not have everything done for them

Blablabla, your the one thats about to replace Strogg for the same looking GDF duplicate here. You prefer to use the realistic humans, with their everyday weapons and their everyday vehicles which are mostly used in ‘EVERY’ other shooter, instead of using the non-existing lifeform like the freaky blood sucking makron believing aliens called Strogg, with their weird tools like the portal, flyerdrone, lasergun, spawnhosts, hog etc. Especially the differences between these two sides and the advantages and short comings between the player classes makes ETQW a wonderful game to play.

Sure I agree that the game isn’t selling anymore. All the millions of potential ETQW players are playing the fresh HD shooters these days. But are those fresh HD games really better? ETQW was years ahead with the gameplay compared to any other shooter. I guess for most players that didn’t liked ETQW back then was because of the high learning curve compared to other shooters that time. These days new shooters come close to same amount of learning curve but still far away compared to gameplay.

I fully understand that you have a lot of knowledge on the engine part.
But atm you’re just taking like a b*tch taking all the goods and fun away.
