And WOLF:ET is property of zenimax.
Predicting SD's next game!
FACTS:
F2P
Unreal engine
“We’re talking about games as a service,” he notes. “Rather than developing games purely for their first week, we think about long-term player engagement, not just for a couple of months, but for 2-5 years, and we can continue to serve that community post-release.”
That looks awesome.
Indeed, Splash Damage has completely shifted its operations to free-to-play. Its first title to come from WarChest, iOS strategy game Rad Soldiers, is free-to-play, while Splash Damage’s next two games – a PC title later this year and a console game next year – will also both be free-to-play
F2P for the consoles, interesting.

First let me say F2P shooter on PC sounds awesome. Especially at this moment in time with Tribes and Blacklight Retribution being fresh in my mind.
Second, does they fact that the console game is F2P mean it will be PS3 only?
well, paul says that it won’t be F2P because someone from Fireteam told him that on IRC.
Not so direct as I meant, the upcoming game could be F2P anyway, but the ‘fact’ that SD is now completely shifted to F2P is nothing more than a rumour.
The PC game has to be F2P or else it wouldn’t make sense that it is on the website: http://www.warchestgames.com/#
How wants to bet against me here?
- Free2play
- (insert engine here)
- mechanics based off community poles
- future funding from cosmetic shop
- looking to put TF2 in a grave
How wants to bet against me here?
- brink engine (unless there’s ownership issues)
What are we betting? I think there was a quote floating somewhere saying they weren’t working on that engine except for Brink support?
I guess I just assumed they were planning to continue the whole “smart” thing.
O dear lordie lordie - lets hope not… Brink failed in every way, including Smart…
taken from SD’s new ‘mission statement’, per say:
We’re talking about games as a service," he notes. “Rather than developing games purely for their first week, we think about long-term player engagement, not just for a couple of months, but for 2-5 years, and we can continue to serve that community post-release.”
with this is in mind, they need to look at their roots- W:ET and ETQW - both games, are over 5 yrs old… and both games are being played to this very day… Brink is not… (am referring to PC- no clue about console - since i dont own a console)
Hell ETQW - if DLC’s were offered,(new campaigns/maps etc) more and more peeps would be playing it and would be happy to pay…

#2 = Unreal Engine, in one statement recently they mentioned from here on out we will be using Unreal for future projects.
#3 = A game I think that will come close to diverting players from TF2 will be LOADOUT… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX4p5o0th0E Going Open Beta this summer on Steam.
Love the weapon crafting for it as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InSL0ECQYxA&feature=related
I am hoping for the classic scheme of straight forward game mechanics in a sink or swim fps skill environment. Put the competitive back in the pub.
To be honest, I’m sad, because I hoped to see stronger engine choose, like Cyrengine 3.
However there are rumors about Unreal Engine 4, but again to be honest, that will not beat Cryengine 3…
( Or make your OWN engine, like you did with BRINKs one, which was hardly edited Id Tech 4, but well… )
Splash Damage was not the developer for RTCW, id Software was
SD contributed maps for the GOTY verson which also contained Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory, the first game SD released
RTCW, W:ET, ETQW and Brink are all owned by ZeniMax/Bethesda any remakes would have to be done by them
i meant the “universe”. like the rage version on iphone was an on-rails-shooter, then rage followed
