ET Test Known Issues and Bug Reporting

(kilbo.fraggins) #141

small issue (not sure if its a bug or not)

this just started happening today … twice.

start game… server loads fine… join as the allies … but when i start its like i’m in a zoomed mode and i can run around with crazy sight! … but as soon as you switch weapons via the number keys, it jumps back into the proper viewing mode… its wierd i can’t describe it as well as i witnessed.

i remember this issue in other games like Day of Defeat … same thing happenend sometimes.

I have not tried to duplicate this. I died and was speccing another player. This player was a soldier carrying an MG42. He laid down behind a tree and took aim (I am not certain if he deployed the bipod). The tree was obscuring his vision (as in, the weapon ran into the tree, not beside it) but he proceeded to fire the weapon and get kills.

I do not know what this looked like to others. The MG42 may have been projecting through the tree for all I know. My understanding of spec mode is that I see what that player is seeing (expect for video settings?). So, if it looked like he was shooting through the tree to me, it should have looked that way to him.

It seems more like a bug than an exploit to me. You shouldn’t be able to deploy your MG42 behind a tree and shoot through it. But it could be a map bug instead of a game bug. Maybe the tree isn’t properly rendered or something.

It was on the second half of the map with the MG42 firing towards the left side of main gate from behind one of the trees on the right side (facing gate) of road track.

I just encountered this yesterday and I think I have an explanation for it.
It happens when you are in limbo and spectating a sniper teammate who is looking through the scope. When you respawn and the person you were spectating was still looking through the scope you will still have the sniper scope vision. It should go back to normal vizion when you respawn but it doesn’t (game bug).

some map issues: some of the railings can’t be shot through. On the attached image: red zones mark solid tiles that can’t be shot through, green tiles are just fine.

(senator) #145

At the moment when a player is prone and crawles against an obstacle he’ll stand up! Thats immensely annoying, for example for the engineer who tries to crawl as close to the boxes next to the bridge to have as much cover from enemy fire as possible…and than suddenly stands up, getting killed instantly.
Or a sniper on the water reservoir, if he crawls against the railing and therefor stands up he just gave away his position and will soon be perforated by MG fire.

(DG) #146

both the railing and standing things are a right pain.

(|X|Avenger) #147

When hitting a lag spike using the mg42 on bipod in prone position, the player stands and resumes play, but has the mg42 on bipod. The player can move at regular speed but the MG42 remains useable as though player was prone, and ius very accurate. I have a demo of this but our site is down. I also have screenshots of it. In the demo, the player is using the proned mg42 upright, and firing it with one hand.

(|X|Avenger) #148

Oh, crap. I just read that we should send bugs to etbugs@idsoftware.com. Will any of the bugs we’ve posted here be fixed?

(|X|Avenger) #149

Update: The MG42 bug I mentioned above also occurs when player is killed in prone and set position, and then revivied. I’m sure the Beta team already reported it.

I’ve been the victim of a malicious TK complainer.

He kept running over my mines, on purpose, then complaining so that in the end I was kicked. He was the only one having issues with my mines, with 7 other people on the team.

I think ET needs measures to stop this. Whilst I think the TK complaint system is a good idea, I think there needs to be a maximum number of complaints that one person can make against you.

For example 4 complaints and you’re kicked, but the most any one person should be able to complain is twice.

(senator) #151

wouldn’t work, because than the TK’er would start to kill YOU purposely and you would only be able to complain against him twice. Had this happen to me in RtCW, a TKer was on a mission, he was always after me, when nobody else was looking he was shooting at me until I was very low on health :frowning: With the new rules you mentioned he’d just killed me because my complains wouldn’t be enough to kick him.

(Spanky5150) #152

I just wanted to say that despite a few bugs, I am having an absolute blast playing ET. It adds some great features to a game that, while my absoloute favorite, has grown long in the tooth. It’s now cool to be an engineer! Can you limit how many of each class? or force? Oh, and the voices are growing on me and actually kinda cool, retro even. I feel like I’m in a fifties war flick, which I assume is partly the idea, I think.

I do have one gripe, and that is the spelling of artillery. Maybe it’s different in the UK, and if so excuse my intrusion, but it’s been driving me nuts! Thanks again for a great job, and please, please, please release the rest soon. I would have gladly paid for it, as I’m employed, unlike these complainers who are looking a gift horse in the mouth. To them I say, “if you can make a better mod, get a job.” Esta muy bueno! Cheers! :drink:

(Cosmos) #153

If there is an admin in the game you will probarly tell by their ping being less than 20 and you could always ask them to kick the offender. The other way is to just keep complaining but he could always come back when he has been kicked and if it doesnt let him then he can always diconnect and reconnect to get a new IP if his ISP does that.

Check these screenshots out

This was the view outside the tank minus the turret

This what happened when i entered the tank

This is the first time this has ever happened no idea what caused it

(FallenMatt) #155

yes, i saw that

the funny thing is that the turret is there, it is just not visible.
also repeated destruction of the tank and repair wont’ make the turret come back…

how do i know the turret is there ? i went on the top of the tank and crawkled around… i could “see” i was higher than the tank visible surface.

It is possible to choose a profile when I start the game via command line?
E.g. if I start the game via pathfinder, can pathfinder add a profile name (if pathfinder would support this)

(Ragnar_40k) #157

Hi!

  1. On the fueldump map you can jump ontop of the rock near the bridge (see image)

If you accidentally fell between the mountain side and the rock, then your stucked. You get only out by killing yourself.

  2. Please add an Allied Team Door to the first allied command post (fueldump map), to minimize respawn killing.

Maybe you can change the windows too, to prevent Axis from jumping inside through the windows (make them smaller or place them higher)

  3. Can you add a button to clone a profile (with a new name)? So I don’t need to reenter all settings from scratch for each new profile.

Have Fun!

(Vengeance) #158

I think all command posts should have a team door on them

(Ragnar_40k) #159

I think all command posts should have a team door on then

No, the allied command post near the fuel dump is supposed to be destroyed and rebuilded during the round.
But the command post near the allied spawn is supposed to help allies building the bridge (and it has 20 points med packs instead of 5 points med packs). Axis have alot of advantages there (the hill/elevated position, MG tower, they can go over the river w/o getting hurt by the barbwire/building a bridge etc.), while the Allies have only one other way to bypass the first allied command post (via footbridge).

(Vengeance) #160

I know its supposed to be rebuilt and destroyed and if it had team door on it gives more of a reason for covert ops to be on the axis side. Afterall its a command post and should have a better defence than a constantly open door. The team door should appear once the post is constructed.
