ET:QW Wishlist

I see more nubie players prone than pro gamers

(ParanoiD) #142

Yep, everywhere i come the better gamers (highest xp, all medic and saying the are proā€¦) are always saying that proning is for noobs because they cant survive without as the hitboxes suck.

(Joe999) #143

well i canā€™t say that this would be the case ā€¦ but after seeing a few clan match videos and some really lame in-fight-quick-proning i really do ask myself why itā€™s even allowed in clan matches

(ParanoiD) #144

Why not, its a tactic to useā€¦ I see nice things for proning in ETQW as i said like hiding in the grass.

Back to topic.

Cool death animations for Stroggs
It may be not obvious at first, but you can afford to use really cool death animations for Stroggs.
In Wolf:ET all deaths look very boring - all wounded/corpses lie on their backs. I understand it would be troublesome when reviving is involved. But unless Iā€™m missing something, thereā€™s no way to revive a Strogg. So give us some badass death animations, like those in Quake2 single player and better. Or else.

(Tanstaafl) #146

This isnā€™t really a gameplay suggestion, just a ā€œwouldnā€™t it be cool ifā€ kind of postā€¦

Iā€™ve always wanted to be able to call in orbital laser strikes, like in that anime classic, Akira. It would simply be precise sci-fi themed arty or airstrike. If youā€™ve seen this movie you know what Iā€™m talking about. If you havenā€™t, just imagine thereā€™s a humongous laser-cannon satellite in geosyncrohous orbit over the map, that fires precise blasts down on the designated target. The beam would have say, a radius of 6 meters (or whatever), burn through the clouds and have a bit of EMP effect outside of the actual laser beam.

Looking forward to playing the game!

Cool death animations for Stroggs

death amination nowadays seem to use the ragdol physics system so homefully there will be no need to death animation and we will get corpses slouched agasint walls and floping around and bulltes fly into them

(B0rsuk) #148

Iā€™ll believe you when I see GDF medic turn a wounded soldier around from ā€œon bellyā€ to ā€œon backā€ position. You completely forgot about medic. ā€˜Shock therapyā€™ wonā€™t be applied to someoneā€™s butt, unfortunately. See Jackass the movie for reference.
But yeah, it seems they can use ragdoll for strogg, no doubt.

(carnage) #149

perhaps that what the turn over thing is for is GDF die with ragdlo physics then the medics must move them into a suitable position before they can be revivedā€¦ its a posibility anyway

timedemo is a good thing
because it enables people to test performance in a reliable and standarised way. I donā€™t mind if it doesnā€™t run at startup as long as itā€™s there.

Some XP adjustments:

  • you should get xp for destroying enemy deployables/crew-serwed guns depending on amount of people killed with this particular deployable. For example, if filthy human soldier used deployable MG to kill 12 Stroggs, I would get (base bonus + 12/2) for destroying the MG. The reasoning is simple: MGs which killed many proved themselves to be big obstacles and itā€™s beneficial for your team to take it down. Therefore it should be encouraged.
It should be noted that not all stationary MGs are of equal usefulness. The MG between Truck Barrier 1 and 2 (GRush) is marginally useful, as opposed to ones overlooking bank courtyard. BUT to engine, theyā€™re the same.
  • Related to above: if certain stationary MG has been used to kill many soldiers, an engineer should get even more points for repairing it, because it IS useful on defence, apparently.
(also for mobile guns/deployables if they can be disabled, not just completely destroyed)
  • it may be a good to make above idea work for vehicles, or even individual soldiers. You know how sometimes thereā€™s a guy with very good hardware, aim and ping and playing a medic ? Sometimes these are very hard to take down and can take out 2-3 newbies on their own.
Similarly, medic could get more points for reviving classes which are vital for current mission progress. If an engineer is sorely needed to repair a bridge, medic should get more than usual xp for reviving one.

What i would like in Quake wars:

I used to play tribes and what was really good about this game was the voice stuff as you had many to choose from, also many other commands could be made up as long as you had the wav pack you could hear it. That is what is wrong with BF2 there is only so many commands you can choose from unless you use teamspeak or other talk progs.

(B0rsuk) #154

How about All your base are belong to us ! Strogg taunt ? (Voice chat)

(LegoManser) #155

Make it free!

(ParanoiD) #156

No donā€™t. I have the money and maybe free makes more ppl play it. But today I had again something I dislike of ET being free. I got kicked from a server by other players while I just planted a dynamite at south gun on oasis. They wanted kills, most kills, good ratios etc instead of the teamwork and victory. I hope ppl who want to play like that wont buy the game and go for games they can do what they want like UT or something instead of teh tactic ETQW.

(kamikazee) #157

Why donā€™t they play LMS then?
Well, youā€™ll have ā€œkiddiesā€ everywhere, no matter what game or minimum age it is.

(ParanoiD) #158

But I hope that if you need to pay for the game that people will look what they buy. These people wont buy ET:QW cuz itā€™s too tactical, real etc. They can better buy UT for the money. I hope that because of paying only ppl will play the game who really know what to do and wanna play it the way itā€™s ment to be played.

(B0rsuk) #159

Umm, slower respawn ? Besides, you canā€™t really spawn camp with aritllery on LMS, I think. And we all know spawn camping is 1337, the game was made this way on purpose, itā€™s a viable tactic, and it requires lots of skill.

(kamikazee) #160

Ah yes. I meant DMā€¦ I know at least 1 mod that implemented it.
And personally, Iā€™m surely against spawncamping, and certainly dislike artillery abuse. Especially if the spawncamping team has an advantage. But thatā€™s just my opinion. :nag:
