You’d think that wouldn’t you. Unfortunatly 14 years olds dont tend to spend their own money on games. Its conveniently someone elses. Personnally I have a load of games that I bought yet never play anymore because they dont hit the standard of ET.
ET:QW Wishlist
Thats why they play ET, because it’s free and pwnz. But they don’t look at the meaning of the game. I would like to see a ESBR rating of 17+ (so I can buy it :o) and only the shops whould sell it to 17 year olds… If ET wasn’t free, so many ppl would have chosen another game (My bro has a game called gunz at the moment for free). A game like that would be chosen then, and that game is made to kill only. Only the ppl who really liked ET and its teamplay would have bought it by then. BTW I haven’t bought any game (never did actual) because I know its wasting money. I had so many games illegal but no-one was as good as ET, maybe because i never played it online. I will buy ET:QW for sure, I even have €22.50 discount then :P, even if it was only to give SD the money they did deserve for ET. I really will start a new topic over here if I have bought it to thank everybody for ET.
that doesnt work, many parents buy their kids games and many of them dont bother about the age rating on it… and of course many games shops dont care what game gets sold to what person, just as long as they get money from it. I know… i have experience with both
And then the games industry gets a media bashing for making games with blood sex and violence. Even if they are rated 18 the parents say the games are corrupting their children, its their fault for letting them have the games.
Nothing wrong with spawn camping there buddy. It IS a viable tactic and certainly depending on the situation takes some coordination and skill, and I’m not talking about camping some 40 man pub server either.
Don’t know if it has been mentioned before*.
I love the audiovisuals of W:ET.
You can distinguish the teams and classes by the colors / skins and sounds of the guns.
That’s really great.
All the little details.
(Ever had a look at ammo boxes in BF2 or that medics don’t know where the teammates are located that need to be revived like in Joint Operations.
Or … )
You will only miss these details in other games if you got to know them in W:ET.
Hopefully this will be the same in ET:QW.
*: Someone was afraid that one might not be able to distinguish the teams like in Q4.
Because they might look very similar.
*skins don’t really matter as long as models are different. Models differ significantly in W:ET, and it appears they will look even more different in ET:QW.
In W:ET models are different, but animations the same. In ET:QW even animations differ.
I hope the SD guys create there own ideas and dont take anything from BF2 and teh like.
I aint played BF2 but from what i here from reliable sources its as good the brown stuff thats in ur pants when u wake up after a serious night on the beer and a kebab before u pass out!
IMO, BF2 is a great game - gameplay wise… the problem is that as a software, it’s ridden with bugs (first versions had some of the most stupid bugs I’ve ever seen on a game) and it has some serious performance issues, specially with the user interface. There are also a few balance problems yes (with air vehicles mostly), but mostly is being fixed.
Other than that, the game succeeded on many levels. It “introduced” (in its own way) some cool stuff (squads, commander) and when you get to play the game with a good squad, it’s a blast… a totally different game from a random rambo run-and-gun medic simulator.
Ive been thinking and ive tought of another thing to add:
RSS in the game. Just add the url of your clansite somewhere. Maybe there should be a special PHP site cms thing to add wars on it. Then the game should visit the RSS feed on startup and can give you a popup with upcoming matches so u can read it, sign up to play in it etc bij clicking on the link in the game.
Well, that seems something like the WoW group stuff and in-game mail system.
I’d say to keep that as much out of the game as possible as your server gets less eror-prone. Hosting a cms website somewhere else then the server and putting the link in the MOTD box is enough for me.
Currently, a lot of CMS things get plagued by hackers…
The game should just get an RSS feed from the web. I don’t think that has risks. It’s just opening a file with some text. The data may be corrupted by hackers, but the chance is not big, then u can check it on the clansite as well. But it would be cool if tehre would be something to announce wars when staring for your clan.
Three ideas:
1.More terse console messages
More specifically, I’m talking about something like this:
Weremoose was vaporised by Anal Intruder’s panzerfaust.
Gnollish Crossdresser was vaporised by Anal Intruder’s panzerfaust.
Possessed Can Of Tomatoes was vaporised by Anal Intruder’s panzerfaust.
It would be great to have it replaced with
Weremoose, Gnollish Crossdresser, and Possessed Can Of Tomatoes were vaporised by Anal Intruder’s panzerfaust.
You might also want to restrict colons from being used in nicknames to make parsing logs easier. Or something smarter.
The whole point is that, you know, message console could be meant to display information. Panzerfausts and similar make it very hard to obtain information. You hear “dynamite planted” and don’t know where to run, because it takes several seconds for the info to show, thanks to PF spam. And yes, I know I can make messages last shorter, but that’s a dirty workaround.
2. Advanced spectacor options
This is meant primarily for when you’re dead and waiting for respawn.
- an option to turn off dead-spectacor-mode altogether. When tired it just makes your eyes hurt. Also adds some confusion when you’re spawned.
- an ability to mark one of players as favourite target to spectate.
- an ability to switch camera between offense, defense etc - when you actually want to get some information while dead.
- important: an option to disable spectacor camera few seconds (say… 3) before spawn. This would be useful for reducing confusion of freshly spawned players. The camera would switch at your future spawn point.
The third idea is the one I forgot.
No starforce!
I have not brought any recent Ubisoft games because of it, I installed a game DEMO from them that contained it, and it borked my DVDRW
Best re-install XP then :)[/quote]
Bloody had to, to get rid of the fluttin’ Starforce rubbish. There wasn’t any removal tools at the time
send them the bill for your time effort. i wonder how they react … if it installed although you didn’t agree, maybe you want to try and mention this as well to all the lawyers who sued sony for installing the rootkit. i’m really sick of all that copy protection crap. why do legal buyers have to mess around with that? because they pay money and get “full service”?
speaking of starforce: please only online authentification for et:qw. PLEAZZZZZZZZZZZE!!! having to insert the cd/dvd every time i play the game, which would be probably most of the time, would be like getting a new job, and i don’t intend to become a disc jockey
