I just read that German edition of Q4 is not compatible with the English edition (which sounds really stupid), so I wish this isn’t the case with ET:QW.

this idea with the letter ä, ö and ü is a good idea! i had a lot of problems in the gamechat in other games with this!
would be a good improvement!

This is probably due to those special characters, and the fact the md5 checksums won’t be the same for a German and English version.

I believe it could work for a non-pure server, but those are allmost non-existant.

I thought long and hard about what to wish for and I can’t think of anything other than what has already been said.

Dynamic Campaigns (Game previews seem to confirm this is already in)

Single player support (Server bots, for offline play or practice)

I would like to see someone take the brave step of making Punk Buster a compulsory server addition (except for lan / sp games). I might get screamed at for saying that but I think it’s about time someone set the standard from the box. Some may think this is totally wrong? If Splash Damage wanted to set a new standard other than with brilliant gameplay and design for QW then they should make PB use compulsory, with a standard pbsv.cfg.

In the interest’s of setting server standard’s from the box while still remaining flexible this is my wish.

i not quite getting you here, most servers have pb and you can just filter out ones that dont so where is the harm? and if pb was enabled all the time could make it hard for mods etc

Hi there
Some little but realistic wishes:

The ability to add annotations on the map that anyone in the team can see would be cool. For example: “Attack here!” or “achtung minen” or “I need some backup over here”. It would be usefull in organizing team tactics. Otherwise you have to rely on team chat that not everyone will read in time. To stop spamming you can make it possible for anyone to delete any annotation or include an expiry timer to each one.
In a simmillar vain you could link such things to a player. You could enter some text describing what you are doing now and when someone in the team aims at or “uses” you it would pop-up and tell them what you’re up to and if you need help.
Another thing - Dawn of War has a cool feature where you can ping a point on the map and it will display on your teammates’ map as a… well… ping. Much easier then saying: “Attack over there, a bit to the left behind that thing, in the right corner… no the other thing, next to that rock!”
I realize that these would probably never get used by the majority of players but a clever player could really make good use of them.

Oh and one more thing: GERMAN HELMETS! :banana: :bump: At least for one of the classes. There’s nothing more fun in ET then shooting that thing off of someones head. BTW the modern US army helmet is based on the german WW2 design as it was the best one during WW2.

Well, what if you could enable some sort of “Team lobby” for use in clanwars? That way pubs wouldn’t have the harm of ‘noobs’ putting annotations all over the place, whilst it can still be used on scrimming servers and private’s. (Eventually, it would need a ‘once at a time’ system too, but I like your idea in general.)

if you want a formula to produce a number 1 game then simply take all the ideas used in counter-strike and then improve upon them, its been the number 1 online game for approx 6 years, id love to see a game finally put it to rest

For me the key factors are:

1 - Realistic graphics etc
2 - Focus on infantry not vehicle combat
3 - when you die you stay dead til the round has been won (probably the biggest factor)
4 - forget 32/64 players, way too much imo as you basically are not at all important to the game, keep it to approx 16 players max, two teams of 8
5 - Have all the normal weopons but also introduce some sneaky ways of killing people, its much more fun. Things like trip mines, boobky traps, pits, etcetc
6 - keep the graphics light, playing in the pitch black is awful and looks rubish, the best levels on counter-strike are the lighter ones, in particular de_dust2 if anyone knows it
7 - In game voice comms would be good, even tho most use ventrilo, in game would be good to have as well
8 - Have money to buy equipment and guns and earn money when you win rounds or kill someone, dont have classes, just allow each person to buy a variety of equipment

no classes? earning money? buying equiment? you list the reasons why i don’t play any of these new sucking multiplayer games and still prefer ET.

i wonder why CS doesn’t give you what you need.maybe because it lacks of fun and that’s because of the reasons you list here?

3 and 4 are completely possible in ET, just configure it. However I don’t like LMS it’s possible and the objective mode is really worth it.
8 simply drains the fun from a game like ET, it’s that what makes the teamplay here IMHO.

All the other stuff is standard in ET or comming up. (Well, I hope that for number 2, vehicle vs infantry ain’t no fun in the long run)

If you would like to see it even more different, go ask the CS guys to mod their game a second time, to your needs…

awfull ideas! Lets be realistic, this is not cs, this game is suposed to have quality.

Now, my only wish is: Dont turn this game into a vehicule whoring game like bf2. Few vehicules per map, probably 4, 2 air ones(choppes,plane), 2 field ones(tank, apc), and dont make them invencible against infantry.

Think i put this in another thread, but it would be lovely. A treat to old fart admins/gamers. Some kind of sensor that detects 12-17 year old ppl who believe they own the world because they can shoot something in a video game. In fact those ppl are fine. It’s the ppl (whatever age) who abuse ppl who can’t do this that annoys me. A feature in mp that can ban these ppl automatically would be delightful. We are after fun servers. Also please buy the etqw1337.com domain. I hope you know why.
