You mean like the ET Pro team?

Yes Wils, them and the shrub/etpub guys, and any other modders that make the popular mods for this game. I love the game, but this patch just seems to have caused us more mayhem than anything else. A lot of old regulars no longer come to our server because they have heard bad vibes about the patch. :banghead:

Also, to be honest, I don’t understand why all previous patches were optional (I know this one is too) and this one gets shoved in your face when you open the game unpatched. :???:

It would be nice to get some answers to my questions too btw, or is that not the purpose of this forum?

To re-iterate:

1)Why are our pings now higher while playing the patched version of the game?
2)Why do the wrong people get kicked when a referee tries to kick someone?
3)WHY is it incompatible with shrub/etpro/other mods?

  1. it’s up to the people making mods to make them compatible with 2.60, not the other way around

btw, ETPro team WAS involved in the new patch
and afaik, Ryan is to busy at evenbalance to be concerned with a update for shrub, which actually does work with patch fairly well

MAJOR BUG:

Uh, when the server redirect feature of the patch is on… and the server is full, you can’t use the slots password…
It just asks you to re-direct, and if you click ‘NO’, you’re thrown back to the main menu instead of just sitting there with ET trying to connect to the full server.
Two, problems.

[ul][li]The obvious one of not being able to enter the slot password.
[/li][li]Some people like to just sit there with ET trying to reconnect until someone leaves the server.[/ul]

Fix:
Could you please just send people to the screen, if they select ‘NO’, where it attempts to reconnect but says “Server is full”. This would solve both problems.

I notice an earlier post on page one says about lvl4 light weapons, you no longer spawn as soldier smg, but you do spawn with first weapon example Covert Ops- Sten when you have k42/garand selected… I thought this was an EtPub bug but its not. Thanks Etnies.

a workaround is to enter the password in the console before connecting to a server.

Look guys, I know maybe I missed a couple of things like about the ET Pro guys doing “most of the patch”, but I’m no moron, and don’t expect to be treated like one. The sad fact is that none of you have actually answered the important questions, and just skirted round the not so important ones by trying, and maybe succeeding to make me look like a fool.

To be honest I didn’t expect this kind of behaviour from adults in a medium such as this. AFAIK the purpose of a forum is for people to find support, especially this topic which is entitled “ET Patch 2.6 bugs here pliz” and NOT “Please flame everyone who you thinks deserves it”.

It doesn’t really matter anymore though, as we have decided to remove the poor patch, and have gone back to standard ET, as to be honest, we never had ANY problems with it. We can’t really understand why you guys decided to patch it in the first place, seeing as we’ve been playing it since the release of the map_test, and NEVER noticed any of the bugs that you guys claim to have fixed.

It would be very nice of someone if they could tell me how to stop that annoying popup message that asks you if you want to update to the latest version, as to be honest, I don’t think we’ll ever be interested.

ET -> options -> game -> (downloads) check for Upgrades on Start-Up: -> set to “No” :banana:

But we’re off topic, this is for 2.60 patch bugs.

The health calculation is still off under a couple fo circumstances.

  1. Level 4 anyone picks up a low level health pack and their max HP is no longer their true max. This changes based on their battle sense level. In the case of a level 4 medic they will go from 140 to 123 to 134 to 156 to 151. Their health is all over the place.

  2. After you shoot a panzer and then try to switch weapons you can get stuck with no weapons for a while. You have to keep clicking to get your weapon back or just wait a rather long period of time.

  3. The sound changes have caused linux clients to go into a loop which causes the game to effectively lock up. This happens in normal 2.60 servers and is worsened under some custom mods. You can test it on the [HESS] California server. You can’t miss the server if you look for it and sort by the number of players. Switching to a normal server (with normal mods) you’ll still lock up periodically there but you won’t lock nearly as much as under that mod.

  4. If you blow the one of the guns in the oasis map and it is diffused at precisly the right time the dyna is diffused but the gun is not destroyed even though you get the message that the gun was blown.

  5. On some servers when you try to access them you are asked if you want to redirect to another server. When this happens you appear to be redirected but then are asked to redirect again. You get caught in a loop until you say you don’t wish to be redirected.

  6. you can still get the tank damaged to the point that you can’t repair it until axis damages it more.

  7. It is still possible to have the city wall blown and have the flag in the oasis old city.

  8. It is still possible to mortar through some structures.

  9. You can still blow the water pump in oasis by planting dynamite on top of the corner of the building next to the water pump.

Actually, it’s called backward compatability. It is important for splashdamage to ensure they do not kill the mods. It is their obligation to the community to not mess up. There is often, as I suspect splashdamage will be the same, an excuse or the company will claim exception, but the bottom line is that they must accommodate the users. The users will resent them as they become more and more dictatorial and as they disregard the efforts of the mod creators. Granted every mod can’t be accounted for but spashdamage has an obligation.

You guys seem to be missing something. Splashdamage didn’t make the patch. The etpro made the patch (except for the Mac port, which was mostly done by Brad Oliver) with cooperation from ATVI and id. So your ranting about splashdamage not working with mod teams is a little :weird:

Furthermore, the problems with mods is only a short term thing until the 2.6 SDK is released.

Anyway, back to bugs:

99.9% of the time, ‘sound looping’ has nothing to do with sound. When your CPU freezes, your sound card keeps playing whatever sample was in the buffer. Freezing on linux is of course still a bug. System specifics and/or steps to reproduce would be required to fix.

Are you sure the server isn’t misconfigured to redirect back to itself ? Or is the server being re-directed to full ?

Fixing this would obviously require more information. Note that by design, explosives do penetrate through solid objects, at reduced strength.

This is a feature of constructables. Where you can plant is a radius calcuation, not a brush defined by the mapper.

Ok i am not totally sure on this but when i join a public server there is a bug where a username is repeated twice. One after the other. This has happened to me on a number of occasions. The server therefore believes there are two people and so the server cannot accept another player. After i move up the leaderboard from this place someone else replaces me there with their name being repeated! Also sometimes i get booted off servers and am asked to reconnect for no reason at all! And also somtimes the game freezes after downloading a map and loading the n ew map. This usually occurs on the awaiting gamestate page

Lvl 4 Soldier Bugs:

  • When using panzer + smg. Shooting panzer will switch you to grenades, not 2nd weapon.
  • Soldier’s SMG as Secondary Weapon is still on weapon bank 3 (shared). Should be on Weapon Bank 2.
    Even if not completly fixed for bank #2. Weapon Bank 2 should respond when used with an SMG, and not act Null.

That was an ETPro setting, so not really a bug for etmain
unfortunate that it wasn’t included, but not really a bug in 2.60

Now that the 2.60 SDK has been released to modders, I see that this bug:

Fixed Oversize servercommands crashing client.

was ‘fixed’ with the hack in trap_SendServerCommand. While this probably fixes the crashing, it still leaves a truncated command send to the client and a malformated log.

I’m just curious why it wasn’t fixed properly when you had the hood open? ‘Hard to fix’ or ‘Oops we forgot’ and similar answers from the developers would suffice. I just wanted to call attention on it.

EDIT: As later explained by bani, this was fixed properly and the hack was kept for allowing modders to see when the packages get truncated.

Doubled usersnames happens on servers with > 32 players, and AFAIK is a cosmetic issue on the clients. I’m not sure if it got fixed in 2.6 etmain, but it wouldn’t be in shrub or etpub (until very recently).
