Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Previews and Interviews

d’ho…!!

me suffers… :frowning:

I gave a look at the enemyterritory.com newsletter, but seeing as it makes me sign up for all Activision FPSs it sounds more like an advertisement newsletter than a QW-updates one…

btw: even if it’s been asked a thousand times, and even if you can’t say a thing about it, I’ll ask anyway:

give

us

news

!!

shots, media, movies, whatever, give us something, we’re starting to boil down here…!!

(Dragzonox) #102

I don’t get it…?
Why make a “sign up for newsletter” when there ain’t beeing send any mails?

(nUllSkillZ) #103

May be there wasn’t an official news until now.

(Fab) #104

Has Splashdamage got an FTP we can connect to?

Also i never recieved any updates recently but i know other site owners did… Maybe a problem with the newly signed up?

(kamikazee) #105

Please add: taken@battlefield.no

www.Battlefield.no is a norwegian fps internett community that recently has bought the quakewars.no domian and are going to cover quakewars.

As I’ve said to other people in this thread, let me know when your site goes live and I’ll add you then. I’m not going to add temporary or unrelated websites.

Cheers

(taken) #112

Battlefield.no is not unrelated, we cover all major fps and mmo games. But we will soon starte extra coverage of qw with the qakewars.no domian.

nice find rosone, finally i get my question answered to which size the 6 gb megatexture is compressed to

still … 12 maps, each 500 mb? on how many dvds does the game come?

looks like the demo will be huge in size, i hope there’ll be a torrent for this, don’t want to wait an eternity on regular download servers :moo:

(Lanz) #115

The demo is one thing, that’s a one time download. But think of custom maps downloaded from the server instead…

If the http redirect can handle it I would download a 500 meg map in 5 minutes but how many can do that? And still that’s 5 minutes of waiting time I would rather spend playing.

It might get REALLY tough for custom maps to get any server time for ET:QW. Especially when you factor in the time it would take to make the map with the new tools and the map size together. Who would want to spend all that time making a custom map and then not see it on any servers? This is of course true for all games and we have seen the trend before but it might be a big factor in ET:QW.

(Black_Forky) #116

What if the megatexture is a more central kind of thing? What I mean by that is that the Splashdamage supplied megatexture wil be perfectly fine for any situation. It will have dessert, ice, and forest, etc. There will be no reason to have custom megatextures and if a mapper REALLY needs different terrain texture he can just not use the MT tech for that hill/area.

(Lanz) #117

I don’t think that will be the case. The megatexture is made because they want a UNIQUE look on the terrain. Where they can mix and blend textures at will and add small details on top to make it look unique in that position on the megatexture. If you can use there megatexture for a new terrain, which might be possible it still wouldn’t fit because it more or less would require that the terrain you made where very similar. You don’t want a road right over your mountain if one is present at that location on the megatexture for example.

Sure you might be able to use older techniques, but players who just don’t know the reason for it might say: “What a shitty map, the terrain looks like crap!”.
