You're a dirty cheating whore!

(damocles) #1

Gotta share this one:

Was playing on fuel dump just now and the tank had blown the depot gates. I was axis and noticed that the allies were all pushing along the closest cave exit trying to storm the gate. They had quite a good little setup going with medics and FOps resupplying the front lines. So I switched to CovertOps, nicked a uniform and proceeded to hill at the rear of the level where the allies would normally snipe from. I sat myself down and began to snipe the medics and FOps that were the supply line to the front.

And then it began. The medics that were sat at the back couldn’t figure out where they were being shot from. And so started the “you cheating whore” comments. The fact that it says “XXX was sniped by Damocles’ K43” should have been reason enough not to yell cheat everytime I dropped one of them, but some people just don’t have enough brain cells to go around. Then the votes started. At first it was just a few votes against me, but as I sniped more and more of them (nipping down to the allied command post to stock up on ammo now and again) the votes against me started mounting.

Alas, I never found out if they would have managed to vote me off, because the server crashed

Still, it felt great being called a cheating whore

yup usually i take it as a compliment when some1 is calling me a cheater

:chef:

([=O=]SMYLER) #3

Yeah but the poor guy was probably amassing large amounts of XP and generally enjoying his time sniping and the fun will come to an end because some fuckin’ idiotic plank thinks he’s cheating and all the rest vote yes as it makes the “horrible words” on the screen go away.

(ETplayer) #4

maybe damo just has M4D 1337 5n1Þ1Ng 5|<1775  :drink:

Sadly this happens a lot. Semi-noob poeple who think they’re good becuase they’ve come top of the XP tree a couple times on noob servers can not understand how someone could be better then them. I mean they really cannot comprehend it, therefore in their minds you must be a cheat. Feel sorry for them, sooner or later they will realise that they are in fact not very good and next time someone is wupping them they might think twice before accusing people of being cheats.

This happens to me a lot, I just ignore the comments on the chat on the bottom screen and just enjoy the game. I was in the situation as you, I am usually a covert-ops sniper on fuel dump on either side. Some people will just get fed up of being killed because they are in open spaces and they will just slagging me off and start a vote kick. I don’t care there are hundreds of other servers and I play the game for fun anyway.

had kind of the same thing myself just now …

playing allied engineer on gold rush - i rush to mine the barriers and kill any axis i find out and about at the start … end up (as is nearly always the case for most even half clued up players) at second axis spawn - mine the barrier and first exit …

we steel the tank and low and behold ALL axis walk out at same time straight into mines - it got pretty much the whole team in a oner … comedy gold classic

so immediately some guy starts with “lets kick this asshole” …

and the conversation that followed was along the lines

“you’re a lamer!”

“wtf - how you work that one out?”

“mines”

“wtf … laying mines == lame ?? how does that work?”

“laying loads together is lame”

“its part of the game. deal with it”

… he tries 4 kick votes and in the end I’m just bitch chatting like

“OMG … HE’S SHOOTING AT ME … LAMER!!! KICK HIM”

“OMG … HE’S JUMPING AND SHOOTING AT THE SAME TIME … LAMER KICK HIM!!” etc

he was convinced i was out of order for laying a mine at the barrier construction and by the axis exit … to me its just a good tactic that i see most every game on that map … and one I always expect when I play axis …

but I guess he’d been playing for a few days now so rated himself and thought everyone would just jump right along

Play on shrub servers where the server gibs/kicks for words like cheater, lamer, whore etc. Solves the problem nicely :drink:

([=O=]SMYLER) #9

Thats me fucked then.

(Dies Irae) #10

Funny.

I also have being called cheater:

On radar map, I was a allied medic, but the team had already 6 medics. so i change to covop. and the fun begun:

after some pants change, i went to the axis 2nd spawn point, climbed to the place when you can see the 2 radars and start snipping the axis. very funny to kill them without being seen.

They accused me of cheating, wallhack, aim bot, and all the possible reasons =P. untill a field op of their team found me, so i changed to other place behind them =)

(Emon) #11

Aside from wall hacks or cvar exploits, is cheating even possible?

(Snipe) #12

The worst thing is if someone goes “Cheater” and calls a vote on a public server theres inevitably 4 or 5 people who vote yes without even asking whats the evidence. In fact Im convinced that no matter what you vote on a public server there are 4 or 5 people who vote yes regardless. They’re usually the soldiers with SMGs.

(SCDS_reyalP) #13

Yes. Aimbots are also possible. With the current generations of games there is no way to completely stop wallhacks and aimbots. Punkbuster just catches the ones which are widely known. Cheats involving things that are server controlled (like hit detection, damage, movement etc) are unlikely, although there is always the chance of finding some glitch that allows you to manipulate those things as well.

Snipe:
I find the people always vote yes are usually balanced by and equal number of people who always vote no.

As I normally play on PB enabled servers, I hadn’t been accused of cheating until the other night:

Was playing as Axis on railgun and doing my usual rambo medic while moving the train around racking up a load of kills when a guy called “Bruce Lee” from the allies accused me of cheating. I thanked him for the compliment and asked why he thought I was cheating, “because I hit u loads of times and u didn’t die” was his response “uv got an infinite energy cheat on” he continued. I then politely informed him that in order to kill me he probably had to actually hit me instead of just spraying bullets around in a random fashion.

After several attempted vote kicks on me from him I offered that he spectate me before accusing me of cheating again, by this time his language was becoming gutter like so somebody else must have started a vote to kick him - everybody voted yes and he was gone

I then found out that this server wasn’t PB enabled so I left anyway and vowed to never again play on non-PB servers.

Never try to teach a pig to talk. You’ll just get dirty and annoy the pig.

/set cg_allowglobalchats “0”

Get’s the stupid green text off the screen and let’s me focus more on tweaking out my l33t Linux aimzbawt and infinite health/ammo hacks. Or playing the game. Whichever I find to be more interesting.

Now… if only there was a /set cg_we_dont_need_twelve_snipers cvar, life would be grand.

“I then found out that this server wasn’t PB enabled so I left anyway and vowed to never again play on non-PB servers.”

I have no idea why there actaully ARE non-pb servers in existence (sp?), I can only come up with the “it’s so cheaters have somewhere to cheat” conclusion.

(Sauron|EFG) #17

There’s also the “I have DSL so I can set up a server with too many slots for my bandwith but I don’t know how to set up PB since I’m behind a router” type. :disgust:

(SCDS_reyalP) #18

That and the various misinformation about it…
“PB makes the game lag”
“PB hurts your frame rates”
“PB sends your personal information to the FBI”

oh but pb does make your game lag when it does the blocking syscalls for checking the pb masters. having your client lock up solid for 5 seconds while PB decides to do a master check, at a critical moment in a game, is not fun.

why they can’t use nonblocking syscalls is beyond me… it’s not hard to do.

(colic) #20

On lower connections it does effect you quite a bit seeing as I started playing RTCW on 56k. It would not freeze it for 5 seconds but there were more blips then anything else.

But on ADSL I dont notice any lag at all

Worst problem I see with pB is that it does not like windows indexing services at all and causes quite big problems!!!
