yeah, but i think alot of server hosts would kick somone just so other people dont leave because they think somone is cheating. if one guy makes a comment that ten people take seriously, then they want to leave because of it, whats a server host to do? keep attendance or boot one guy?

No-one’s denying Mr.Chris’s “right” to post his opinions. I was merely suggesting that his site would be more meaningful if it didn’t contain just his opinions.
For instance, I’d personally like a site that reviews game servers. Sounds like a good idea to me. There are 100’s of the bloody things out there, so who knows which ones are good and which aren’t. It’s a time consuming effort to jump on a server, wait for the map to load, play for a bit, only to find out that the admins are lame, or it’s a 6-10 map campaign, or the server is using some non-default settings or something and then have to leave and go elsewhere and run the risk that the next server you join is no good either.
So I’d welcome a site that reviews servers. But it must be impartial, and it must be balanced. i.e. I’m not going to avoid a server just because Mr.Chris went on it and had one bad experience. But I probably would if 2 or more people had the same bad experience.
I don’t see how this equates to forum posts however. Are you saying I can’t post an opinion on a forum unless someone else has posted the same opinion first? If so this, and all, forums would be stone dead! A post expressing an opinion on a forum is not the same thing as a website that tells people in big, bold, colourful sentences to avoid servers that someone somewhere has paid good money to host.
I welcome Mr.Chris’s initative, but IMHO I think he needs to solicit opinion from others to lend weight to his own before his site can be taken seriously.

Why dont you go to some of the bad servers that Chris mentioned, and give him feedback on whether you thought they were really all that bad. If you disagree with his comments, tell him why its good (or neutral if its not a bad server, just something you wouldnt play on).

Mainly cos they’re US based and not the kind of servers I’d play on (i.e. Shrub / multi-map Campaign / XP saver, etc.) so I’m not particularly interested in whether these servers are good or bad.
I’m just suggesting to Mr.Chris that if he wants his site to be seen as anything more than one guys rants against people that have “wronged” him in some way (which is maybe all he does want for all I know) then he maybe needs others to contribute, and possibly needs a 2nd opinion on the ones he doesn’t like before bad-mouthing them.
Having said that, I watched the demo Mr.Chris posted of his game on the XD server. It shows a few people on there who objected to the Clan stacking. Personally I don’t like stacking on publics, but I don’t have a problem with Clans doing it on their own servers, but then you know my thoughts on what Clans can and can’t do on the their own servers!
So I guess, if XD server wasn’t Shrub and didn’t have XP save (and was UK/Euro based) I’d probably avoid it myself anyway based on Mr.Chris’s demo. But not because of Mr.Chris’s opinion (he was hardly civil or uncritical himself on there) but just because it’s not to my taste.

My point was, you said Mr.Chris shouldn’t say what he thinks about servers cause they were based on one person’s opinions. What gives you the right to attack his actions when your arguments are based solely on one persons opinion?
Mr.Chris has the right to post his opinions, just as you have the right to post yours. You may have disagreements with his actions, but you don’t have any right saying he shouldn’t post what he thinks.

Played on Austin ET and XD servers last night (the only 2 on of Mr.Chris’s shit-list with free slots). Not that much fun playing with 250 ping, but no evidence of lame behaviour by anyone on either server. In fact the Austin ET server runs several custom maps which I’d not played on before and I had a several good games on there.
@ AmazinGLarry: The :twak: was because, as I said in a previous post, ONE person having ONE bad experience on ONE occassion on a server doesn’t necessarily make it bad. MORE THAN ONE possibly does. If Mr.Chris would refrain from adding servers to his list UNTIL he has a second opinion (which he does for most, but not all, of them) I for one would take notice of what he says.
@ Puubert: I’ve never said Mr.Chris doesn’t have a “right” to post his opinions, in fact I’ve defended his right to do so. I’m just suggesting that maybe he needs to solicit other peoples opinions, to provide a more balanced view, for his site to be taken seriously.

I hope Mr.Chris would take these suggestions as constructive criticism rather than criticism per se, but obviously he’s perfectly at liberty to tell me to go f*ck myself with a wire brush if he so desires.
But this thread isn’t about Mr.Chris’s website, and I’ve made my points. The XD server, on the one occassion I was there, seemed OK, but it’s in the US and runs Shrub so I won’t be returning to it, or to this thread.

That was the line you posted that brought about my response. See where I’m coming from now? You’re the only person saying he shouldn’t do it, so you should keep your opinions to yourself until you’ve ratified them with a substanstial amount of other individuals.

There’s servers with abusive admins, servers without admins, servers full of lamers, laggy servers, empty servers, servers with weird configs, and non-PB servers. Thank god for and /uninstall.

I haven’t read your 516 posts so I think you’re blowing that out of proportion. And I’m not trying to discredit anything. I responded to a comment you made, which seems out of line with your general rhetoric, and I took issue with it. If you didn’t mean what you said, then why not clarify? It seems to me, that according to that statement, opinions should not be voiced unless they are ratified by others. If you don’t believe that, then A) why say it, and B) why defend it?
