worse than n00bs? not possible....surely?

(damocles) #1

Oh yes it is. It is very possible. Recently, when pubbing I have noticed a worrying trend - cowardice.

Everyone will tell you, the way to win ET is to form a nice sized group and storm the objective. However, lately it seems every n00b, lamer and generally not very good player has developed a yellow streak. The group of players will form at the choke points - ready to push, but no matter how big the group gets, they just stand there and hold the line, where they slowly get picked off by the enemy one by one.

This technique is okay if you’re on defence, but this is the attacking side doing this!

so, as a small token of information for any n00bs that may read this:

MOVE FORWARDS YOU YELLOW BELLIED SPINELESS GITS!!!

And on the opposite end of the spectrum are people like me that will rambo themselves into waves of enemies without waiting for backup… Why do I keep doing this? :banghead:

A message to all the wussies out there… Don’t let my bloody, horrible death be for naught, attack!!! :eek3:

Totally agree ,Ill spawn and see 3 or 4 players stood round a doorway like their having a meeting with no intension of moving forward ,Its like there playing OLTL or something not only that they end up blocking me and I end up getting really mad I soon disconnect when these symtoms occur, nothing worse when your the only one pushing and the rest are stood watching. They dont seem to comprehend what attacking means.

Luckily Ive found a couple of servers were people understand what attacking means

(Englander) #5

Thats the point though ,you can wait all u want these people would never back u up,their too busy having conferences in safe places

There’s another thread about what’s the best way to annoy teammates and alot of them are very funny but I swear this will be what causes me to… well nevermind what.

So you, the bonzai type, run by on the way to the front lines… and here’s a cov sniping, 2 field ops, a panzerboy, and a HMG. This could be a very effective defense, only you have objectives to do and you’re tying up too many resources guarding something pointless. And, of course, the field op is standing right beside the gunner so he can’t pivot, and all of them so close together that one incoming panzer round drops them all. At some dumb place usually. (like the topside tunnel on Oasis, or the road overpass on Goldrush.)

IT’S WARGAMING. YOU ARE GOING TO DIE. Many, many, times. In fact dying is a tactic. You and your squad fly into a deathtrap guns blazing while the medic behind you stabs adren into his self and starts running around the field reviving your wounded asses… it and hundreds of variations of it work remarkably well.

damocles, I feel your pain. Personally the best thing I can hope for is to stick to modded servers. At least you can push/shove them out, maybe all the way to the fight if need be. When they get mad and shoot ya, maybe that will be enough team damage to get them kicked and someone willing to dive into the fight will join.

ET is going total Quake deathmatch. Damnit. I hate them for it. This is why we have medics that only revive when it’s conveinent, field ops that only dish ammo into piles and make you come get it, engys that arm the dynamite that someone else drops, and coverts that grab uniforms just to fire two seconds later and lose it. No concept of team tactics nor any desire to practice them. XP and upgrades, though, that they understand!

Speaking of Valium, doctor says I need to go now.

Had this happen on battery. We take the forward bunker but the entire team decides to hide in the entryway to the axis spawn staircase and not move up. I tried for 5 minutes trying to get people to move up and help me attack. Eventually I just gave up, switch to the axis side as a panzer soldier, and wiped out 6 guys with one shot. Maybe they learned something.

I couldn’t agree more about not attacking (one of the things that really annoys me is when people sit on the bridge in Goldrush looking down on the axis courtyard when the bank doors have been blown). :bash:

But I was a bit taken aback by something patchouli said:

… engys that arm the dynamite that someone else drops …

Isn’t that a good thing? When a dynamite is thrown, the key thing is to see it armed, as quickly as possible. It would take longer to throw a new one than to arm someone else’s (and you may not have sufficient charge bar, or wish to conserve it to defend the dynamite with rifle grenades). Personally, I’d be more annoyed if someone planted a new dynamite instead of arming one that had already been put down.

I hate this.
The other night on Rail Gun only two in a team of six were actually pushing to get the tug. We got the ammo loaded but when I had the first tug at the tower I was killed (and since I was the only medic I tapped out immediately). Then I noticed we had at least two guys hiding behind the wall outside the spawn, occasionally spraying bullets into the fog, but none of them even made a move towards the tug! :bash: :bash: They only had to move it 10-15 m or so, but before I respawned the Allies stole the tug. :banghead: :banghead:
I rarely lose my calm over a computer game, but this time I did. :disgust:
(Luckily the other team only had two good players, so we eventually won anyway. :bored:)

(decoy) #10

Same here. Give them a double-tap in the head as a warning, kill them the next time, then get them kicked. Combat cowardice the Stalin way.

Heh… copied

(Salteh) #11

Bonzai type eh?

:stuck_out_tongue:

(Lekdevil.NL) #12

I’ve developed a new tactic that I’m going to try out soon. In case of said cowardice on the Goldrush bridge (or in the Fueldump tunnel, or wherever it is that the Cowards Anonymous hold their meetings), I will change to engineer and plant a stick of dynamite right in the mddle of said meeting! Since the group of CA participants almost never hold an engineer, this surely will get their lazy asses moving!

(spoon) #13

New trend? What are you talking about? Ppl have been doing this since wolf classic… “I can’t go out there, sarge! I’ll get deaded!” Nothing like playing railgun and having to both move the tug AND flip the switch.

Oh, and Lek… you do know that they’re all just going to stand around the dyna, wait for it to go off, and then vote to kick you for being a damned dirty tk’er, right?

(Narkar) #14

This cowardice is just awful!

When i get pissed off at my team, i will usually go covert, so i wouldnt have to deal with them.

(damocles) #15

I’m going to bind “fire in the hole!” to a key and run around saying it a lot. Of course, the eejits will probably run backwards, but it’s got to be worth a try.

Last night was an absolute biscuit taker though. Playikng as Axis on railgun, the allies had the track switch well and truly pinned down and the team were a bunch of spineless gits again, just sitting around the spawn yard and railgun hoping they don’t get a splinter on all that nasty wood. So I thought bollocks too it, and did a rambo medic act. Went round the long way through the allied spawn area, popped up behind the allies and went to work. I took out about six of them in the confusion (2 of them by their own mines  ) before they dropped me. and I waited. And waited. And waited. And 30 seocnds later the allies were all over the track switch again. When I spaned I noticed the tug was sitting halfway between axis spawn and the switch and all my guys had found a new hiding spot - the med/ammo racks in the bunker :banghead:

I quit shortly thereafter. This was a shame too, because it was the BOD server, one of may fave servers and usually attracts pretty good players. And the EFG players, but I try not to mention that, it brings down the property values

(blushing_bride) #16

woopsie we were having a meeting, in fact we were talking about you behind your back

“that englander has big feet”

“he never has”

“he has”

“he never has”

“he has”

(Narkar) #17

This is the classic example of camping assault

(also shows you the difference between a good covert and a bad covert)

I kinda felt sorry for the enemy team…

(Wraith2k3) #18

It happens a fair bit on oasis. The allies get through the tunnel from the old city, and then just congregate outside the area where axis spawn, instead of going to the guns.

Also, on railgun, when every bloody axis team member goes after the depot yard instead of moving the tug, leaving 1 or 2 people to do everything. Thats annoying. :banghead:
