The game was delayed by a year though, they actually once said they could have probably released the game a year ago but they wanted to make it even better and more polished and such…
Will Bethesda Throw Us More Cash? (Can we get something new to discuss?)
I know, right! Damn public is forcing Valve to release HL3/EP3 so early it’s not even funny… but, okay.
I was not referring to the relatively small group of players who actually own Brink and complain/comment about the many bugs/issues with the game. I’m referring to the LARGE group of players that would rather be death-matching it up on CoD or pwning newbs with Helis on BFBC2.
Out of the 10 or so friends I introduced to Brink, only 4 liked it. Most of the others said they either preferred the run-n-gunning TDM headshots of CoD or they missed the vehicles and wide-open sniping of BFBC2.
I admit that Brink has some obvious flaws on Xbox360 (I don’t play on PC, where there are even more complaints since the game isn’t ETQW2), but the good outweighs the bad for me in Brink.
The stupidity of gamers and lone wolves FKing pi$$es me off most of the time. I can’t wait for Call of Duty to die.
The game was delayed by a year though, they actually once said they could have probably released the game a year ago but they wanted to make it even better and more polished and such…
You may know the delay but I know for a fact tat you don’t know what they were doing during that development time. Look at Alpha Protocal when it was going to be delayed.
I am hoping that there is a collective feeling of primed potential with Brink; that its now locked and loaded to propel the I.P forward after it had to break some initial ground, and now has some inertia; the map is there. The template is in place. Despite faults, flaws, false starts, a host of other problems: there’s something there to continue mining for gold. A spec of dust. On xbox there’s an interest still for the game. More content speckled in even in small doses. Throw in some crazy twist off-Ark. Drop in some more progression elements. Locked and loaded. I still feel the potential. It is hard to over look when the framework is in place. It brings you back to it.

It doesn’t matter since the public didn’t force the game to be released on the initial release calender. How did they force it to release, later?
Wasn’t the release also brought forward as well as apparently they were happy with the way it was and didn’t feel the need to wait any longer?

Why do you think Alpha Protocol was forced to be released earlier? That’s why developers get such fear from the misunderstanding and impatience of the public.
Regardless of how many people are pissed off, it’s still ultimately the dev/publishers decision to release… again a week early I might add.
There’s also deadlines to meet based on Publisher demands/marketing plans. Also, with large retailers, they demand a product be on their store shelves by a certain date so they know what to order and reserve room in their stores for your product.

I think also, this being a HUGE year for FPS/Action games, releasing when they did was the best decision for Brink. If they held it for 6-12 more months, everyone would be too busy playing BF3, MW3, GoW3, DeusEx, Uncharted3, Resistance3, Rage, Skyrim, etc etc to give Brink a chance.
I am happy they released when they did. The first few weeks were a bit bumpy, but since then, I’ve been having a blast with Brink (on the 360).

Which people would that be? The 1.2 million people who bought it during the FPS lull during this spring? There weren’t many other major releases around Brink other than LA Noire and Dirt3.
If you truly believe that Brink would have the same 1.2 million in sales starting from now until Xmas, you are very optimistic. I doubt many would agree with you.

Still, Brink is better of being released late. Would rather have a polished or unpolished game at launch.
IIRC: the release was suspiciously slipped in before LA Noire could steal everyone’s cash. Wouldn’t be the first time something was rushed to market to beat out some competition with promises to patch later.
With the whole “tight economy” thing people aren’t buying every game they want. I bet their “it’s done, we can release” was probably translated by PR from “it’ll be done in about a month or two”.
I was expecting a response like that.
I am a Brink fan. I have over 100 hours played. I want Brink to succeed so Bethesda moves ahead with Brink 2.
I am also a realist, and in this downed-economy, people aren’t gonna be shelling out $60 for every game that’s released. With all of the AAA titles coming out in the next 3-6 months, Brink would have been pushed off many people’s lists if it was released between now and Xmas.

How? Anyway, I’m also a Brink fan (GT: Azure Influx) We all want Brink to succeed but were fighting over what’s best for Brink to rise up as it’s starting to. Also, I meant to be released next year!
post history.
In any case, Brink should have been delayed 1-2 months later to finish the game and release when, to my recollection, the field was a barren desert.
