Which OS are you running?

(nUllSkillZ) #1

I’ve just got into the internet the first time with a Linux life distribution.
Actually it’s Games Knoppix V 4.01 which I’ve found on o a DVD from a magazine.
A great feeling.
New territory

I’m still running Windows XP Home but thinking to change to Linux.

So which OS are you running for playing W:ET / games?

Edit:

Preferable the one you running while playing W:ET.

(Etnies) #2

guess which one is gonna win?

(moonShield) #3

You should add FreeBSD and Solaris ;). ATM i’m running Windows. Try (x)Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntuusers.de/).

(kamikazee) #4

I voted Linux as I use it for W:ET playing. However, I have got Windows XP Pro on this box and tend to use it for modding as most tools are Windows-only.

For the case of distro’s: I’m running Gentoo Linux. ( The “IKEA” distro. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Seems that the polls aren’t editable.

Should have taken a look at the statistic side:
SplashDamage.com access statistics
Seems that Windows will win.

(phray) #6

heh, i also voted linux because i do play w:et on it. however, my main box is running xp pro, because so many games are windows only (or run too slowly in wine). i’ve run tons of different linux distros and i’m currently running ubuntu, just to see what all the fuss is about. and it’s really very nice

(Ragnar_40k) #7

I run all 3 here - where is that option?

(Eddmarkus) #8

think most here run on Windows cuz it supports most games. I run XP Media Center edition lol

(digibob) #9

Mainly Windows XP, with a side helping of Ubuntu.

(Salteh) #10

Windows XP, but also have Fedora installed :]

(ouroboro) #11

It’s always cute when when a new Linux user declares that they will be switching completely.

(Nail) #12

Win 2K on 3 comps
OS X on 1

(MrLego) #13

XP - Only because Doom 3 and Quake 4 wouldn’t install in 98SE.

(nUllSkillZ) #14

So I guess Windows + Linux is most used.
What about Windows emulators(?) ?

Edit:

For example Wine.

radio shack tandy…

(Diecast5) #16

My main box is running XP pro that is all I will ever run for my gaming, I have no problem with any of the stuff I run on my PC

(FeaRog) #17

XP Pro here… Used to run RedHat/Fedora (yeah, I know, ew) for Q3 engine games and cross-platform dev, but I don’t have the time to maintain a Linux distro any more :frowning: Nothing comes close to the usability of Visual Studio for development either, and rebooting to do all the stuff I prefer to do in Linux doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm :frowning:

(B0rsuk) #18

Single boot Kubuntu 6.06. I’ll probably switch back to Debian once Etch is out (December, probably)

(kamikazee) #19

Wine Is Not an Emulator!
Now seriously, most modern programs refure to work in it as more and more programs are written in bulky .NET. The problem is that .NET requires quite some Dynamic Link Libraries to be ported, and Wine’s API is not complete.

Hi. I play on Mac X. I noticed ET in downloads section here for Mac. As i remember, to install ET on my PC i needed to have RtCoW. Is it this same on Mac? As i know there is no mac version of RtCoW. Thx. And 1 question else. This ET will run on non intel 10.3.9 X?
