What Voice commands would we want?

(SCi-Fi) #1

what kind of Voice commands will there be, I loved Tribes 1 as you could make your own aswell and it was easy to activate as it started with V and spreads out with all letters of the alphabet with different areas that were needed like A for attack and D for defense and so on, then there will be other options inside them.

Unlike Bf2 which is usless unless you have teamspeak as most of the Bf2 commands that people need arent there as there isnt enough of them.

ET ones are just fine IMO, even though it’ll be somewhat creepy to have stroggs go like axis “attaaaaack!”

(kamikazee) #3

Isn’t this discussed in some other topic, or was that just about WHO you want to say them?

(strogg): All your base are belong to us !
(both): Snipers at %l
(both): Regroup at %l
(both): Attacking via primary route
(both) Attacking via secondary route
(both) Incoming primary route
(…)

Basically, I want Q3F map location names back (instead of cryptic(useless) stuff like E3 or C2. SD said they replaced location names with chess-like locations to avoid clutter. They could as well remove map locations alltogether.

Other than that, we’ll have to see the game to determine what’s missing.

The most recent etpro mods added in location names for grid positions. It wouldn’t be that difficult to implement.

(kamikazee) #8

Yes, but a default implementation can allways be nice.

we definately need a “Jahaha” in there.

Double post FTW.

I would like to see allot of these included (that apply)

BTW: This works really good. I have always found it easier to hit VVQ for Quiet then to hit lets say: 149. VVQ just makes more sense. (also you put the important ones around the WADS so you can hit em fast. :D) For example: VTF (Voice: Tactical: Follow me!) See… Simple & Fast…

HEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

“Heal Me!” makes me laugh everytime I hear that outrageous Axis accent.

(Loffy) #13

I wish there was “protect the plant!” (you silly snipers and rambo medics).

(Joe999) #14

instead of “command declined” the etpro goat sound would be nice

(DarkangelUK) #15

From what i’ve seen in the screenshots, there’s a hell of a lot of plants to protect!

I agree the Tribes 1 binds ruled, and ET used the same kind of setup.

I havent messed with the ET chats, but in Tribes 1 you could edit a text file to add your own chats along with how they were said (local, team, voice wav file to go with it, etc) and that simply was awesome. I think I had like 200 chat options when I had mine fully setup. Some users made voice packs also, and there were South Park and Simpsons ones for example.

The benefit of adding your own chats is enormous - I had specific map ones like on Raindance I had “Heavy O coming through the valley!” - everyone on my team knew that soon a HO would be cresting the hill in front of the base. The downside is the swearing, racism, and leet chats many made, but with a good filter these should be able to be squashed before they reach the screen.

I got so good at knowing the 3 key combo for chats that voice chat simply wasn’t necessary, and this was awesome on pubs where any game is played the most anyway; and where voice chat is rarely used by a whole team.

I really hope QW’s allows custom chats.

(SniperSteve) #17

I like voice chats, where your character says something. There is nothing better then yelling taunts at your enemy. Or even audible macros your frinds can hear even in the middle of the hottest fight…

(Zyklon) #18

In ET you can bind a different text to the voice commands. So you can say in the chat “they are coming from the west” when your character yells “incoming!”.

(datoo) #19

It’s also important to have social vsays. I hate how counterstrike has no “good game” or “nice shot”, I use those so often in ET.

(Hakuryu) #20

Hehe, I remember stringing together Tribes 1 chats. When using the v menu, the chats overrode each other so when a new one would play, the other would stop.

Get the Enemy Flag! + Hi = Get the enemy high!
Defend our Flag! + Shazbot! = Defend our Shazbot!
Defend our Flag! + Damnit! + You Idiot = commonly strung together :stuck_out_tongue:
