What To Play While We Wait

(THEJORRRG) #101

Yeah yeah, narritive is all well and good, but the gameplay is repetitive, its lost its wacky San Andreas charm, there’s no more crazy OTT missions, and its lost the part that made GTA so good, its sense of humour. I hate this gritty realism craze thats sweeping the fun out of gaming.

Sorry for double post.

(Mustkunstn1k) #102

Yeah, I can’t wait for Brink either. I’ll just continue to play TF2. AC:Brotherhood and Portal 2 look awesome tho.

[QUOTE=THEJORRRG;245447]I hate PC gamers when they get all elitist. “console to PC port, dumbed down kiddie camp fest”
Console gamers are no dumber or less sophisticated than PC gamers, and all platforms have casual gamers as well as cheaters. PC gamers like these need to get off there high horse. PC’s are no better or worse than any console.[/QUOTE]

perhaps not, but the aiming on pc is a lot better, and the game can get a lot more sophisticated and with much more options. wich we don’t get because then the consolegamers would be mad as they don’t get the same experience…

pc is the best platform for gaming, the problem is that it’s also the most expensive.
and for some reason people think the pricetag actually effects what platform is the best for gaming.

i hate [overpromoted and useless]garbage-quality [cross-platform]"games in return.
and no, nobody discuss IQ of console gamers here[as you try to. with you weak trolling/rhetoric skills].
PC gamers ftw. and no, they don’t need anyone “advices”, even from such offensive [random appropriate inappropriate sentence here].
PC not “better”, they just ultimate platform for any kind of [serious]gaming, while [today]gaming content on other devices is one-level. i mean, most[but not all] xbox360 and PS3 games are have same level of gameplay/immersion/replayability as phone games. if there is no difference, why pay more ??! on saved money you can upgrade you PC and have something more decent[and worth money/time to spend on].

If you have a PC for gaming there is really no point in getting an X360 since almost all XBOX games are multiplatform. While I do have a PS3 Console for certain exclusives I can’t get on PC I really prefer PC.
Brbrbr have you played any of the current-gen consoles? There are so many great games you can miss out on if you have a “Console games are like phone games” mindset. Red Dead Redemption was a great narrative experience and fun game, without a console I would’ve missed it, and likewise I really enjoyed Heavy Rain, and on that note I am excited for La Noire, which without a console would be impossible for me to play.

I have a PC and an xbox. The xbox is more for playing with friends, since many of my friends don’t play PC games. Any players I meet playing PC, I rarely play any games with them, other then the ones I met them on. On xbox, I play a variety of games with the same people.

that, of course, is the problem, to make a console worth buying, they need to take away from pc…

(BeyondSpectrality) #108

I’ll be playing:

Fable 3 (XBox 360) - Co-Op with the gf.
Battlefield BC2 and BBC2: Vietnam (PC) - Online Multiplayer.
Starcraft 2 (PC) - Online Multiplayer.
League of Legends (PC) - Online Miltiplayer
Dead Rising 2 (360) - Single player.
Medal of Honor (PC) - Online Multiplayer.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3) - Single player.
Vanquish (PS3) - Single player.
and
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey (DS) - Single player.

Then whatever I get for Christmas from my gf and family,

(LyndonL) #109

I’m rebelling against buying BFBF2:Vietnam on the principle that it’s $US15 for 4 maps and a helicopter skin (huey) plus a few guns. When the price drops I’ll get it during Steam Xmas Sales.

(BeyondSpectrality) #110

It’s more than that though, I mean 4 maps, vehicle reskins, character reskins, a whole new HUD. Plus new weapons.

I mean sure $15 is a little steep, but CoD seems to get away with giving us a lot less for the same price. And really? For me I skip lunch one day at work and It’s paid for, lol.

(LyndonL) #111

And I won’t buy COD map packs either.

(.Chris.) #112

At end of day you still paying for something that not long ago you got for free.

(KAS--Will) #113

I’m playing MW2 on the 360 to pass time. But I’m also looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever so I’ve been going back to my roots and playing a bit of Duke Nukem 3D Dukematches to pass the time…

What your not seeing with PC gamers is the loss of all the functions PC games used to have due to button limitations. We miss that and will never forget.

Just taking our lean buttons away is enough!

(BioSnark) #115

Yup. So tired of playing games that combine “use” and “reload”, “use” and “sprint”, “use” or having “use” in prepackaged jump points instead of having a “jump” key or predefined cover points instead of a “crouch” key. Leads to incredibly tiresome command misfires and unwanted character automation that becomes a junk minigame to try to avoid. And oh-so-wonderful quicktime cutscenes. How console gamers put up with all that rot and call it flavor, I have no idea… Sorry to be blunt on the subject.

(BeyondSpectrality) #116

That’s true but the market has totally changed. We live in a world where DLC is king and where companies make money off extending game content. I think about it as inflation. I do think the prices have been steep for most dlc butthey weren’t going to stop.

(tokamak) #117

It’s a shame the public let’s itself get milked like that. I would appreciate a substantial expansion pack far more.

(H0RSE) #118

They have those too - they’re called “GOTY editions.” Now companies can make money selling small DLC packs for a game AND make money selling them again as a bundle at the end of the year.

Gotta love Capitalism…

I don’t mind having limited amounts of buttons for a PC game. I find it stunts the gameplay when you have to stop and look for what key to press outside of the WASD range (ie pressing L or J or something).

I agree with BioSnark though, combining keys for multiple tasks is pretty crap… but at the end of the day, if the gameplay is engaging I’m not too fussed. We play a game for the experience and joy of moving and aiming or solving puzzles etc - not by being proud that you can remember 25 button combinations to control the game.

… still working on Mario Party 8.
