What happened to this game??

(Acron1021) #41

Do whatever you must to keep your ignorant bubble.

It’s sad to see people like this. Like religious zealots who shut their ears and yell “NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO” once you are proving things with logic.

Do whatever you want retarded fanboys, idgaf.

(dazman76) #42

It’s quite obvious you do Nick - either that, or you have a lot of spare time to spend annoying communities. I think you’re actually a closet Brink fanboy, but you’re currently struggling to come to terms with it. Don’t worry though - there are people here who can help you. And they want to help you, Nick. You don’t have to face this alone.

(Azev2000) #43

It was just over 20k on launch day. Of the 6 friends who purchased it. I am the only one who even attempts to play anymore.

(Acron1021) #44

Okay, every morning I wake up at like 11:30 am.

I do some stuff for maybe like 15 minutes. Then I wait another 15 minutes on these forums waiting for the new day on steam summer sale.

I sometimes come on here after playing games and taking a little break.

I’m sitting here and hitting f5 every second for the whole day.

And I actually was a brink fanboy for the first week. But that was because I didn’t want to admit it was a bad game. Did I really waste 60 bucks? We all have been there.

(St NickelStew) #45

On the UK EA forums users who create an alternative account while under a ban are perma-banned. Does this forum have similar rules?

(Acron1021) #46

Yes. Every forum has that rule.

But like I’ve said. Perma bans won’t stop me.

(StillBatusBrad) #47

I’ve yet to see the mythical full xbox game.

And now, it’s deader by one. I’m done.

Brink was a great idea, but, on the whole, an epic fail in execution. SD’s silence, regardless of the reason, continues to irritate and I can’t forgive the dog**** graphics on the xbox anymore. Everytime I go back to Brink, having played ANYTHING else, it just looks ****ing dreadful.

Also, this will be my last chance for a month to be online and the patch and DLC aren’t here. Refuse to pay for it…so I’m off. I’ll hope for and look out for Brink 2, which may be the game this one should and could have been.

Time to find another distraction until Skyrim arrives. Peace.
Ok  What is right about BRINK? Without contradicting any of the wrongs you listed (all of which I agree with btw)

Any answers I don’t like will result in you being T-bagged mercilessly in ETQW (the best game on the planet but it really needs a new map pack, ya hear that SD…? huh?)
1. BRINK has a color palette
  2. Substantial choices in character customization, weapon variety and play style
  3. Map design (people would argue against this, citing container city but for the most part it’s other areas that fail during matches, not so much the map design… I quite like it!)
  4. Hype (BRINK was ridiculously hyped and got ridiculous amounts of attention… I had not looked forward a to game this much ever! That is something it definitely did right, after release it was the failure, again, in other areas that transformed the hype into disappointment)
  5. SMART (For some, the bread and butter… Not the first game to do this but it definitely does it more aggressively and so far maybe the best extra moveset used in fps; now about those binds…)
  6. All classes are fun to play (yes, I love playing operative)
  7. Most abilities are worthwhile (linked to reason 2)
  8. It’s world and aesthetic are quite unique among recent fps
    __
  9. Dedicated Servers (a dying breed?)
  10. Steamworks (some will shoot me for saying so)
these 2 reasons are pc specific, therefore, unfair to mention but at the same time crucial to BRINK’s survival, dedicated servers especially…

I’ll be honest, when called out to make a list for what went right I had to struggle and actually fudge a few of the entries as a couple could easier be lumped into another. go figure.

Comparing my two lists It seems to me that what BRINK did wrong weighs heavier against enjoying the game than what BRINK did right does to maintain the enjoyment.

Oh yeah, everything that is wrong is still fixable within the “traditionally accepted” patch times post release (whatever that means) or through koff sdk

Cheers to DLC and taking a break with steam sale!

Brink really didn’t get that much attention. Not anymore than most other new IP’s usually get. Even upon launch, there were quite a few people that still never heard of the game. You wanna talk about hype, then talk about any COD game - especially near launch time.

It’s quite sad that in the video game industry - an arena where there is so much potential for creativity and innovation and truly remarkable strides in user interactivity, that the majority of the community is more hyped about sequels than totally new ideas.

If you are talking specifically about wasting money on buying a video game, then no, we have not all been there, because I haven’t. I have never bought a game I was disappointed with.

i almost bought alpha protocol. thank god i waited a day.

(Acron1021) #52

I’m basically forced to buy indie games. My past few “supposedly” triple A games were a huge waste of money. I’m just gonna keep playing indie games until some real triple A games come out. Never again will I buy from some unknown company on the first day.

You probably missed the part where Brink fails to improve existing ideas (mostly just making everything worse) and implements borrowed ones that do not belong in this genre. There are creative ideas and then there are flat out bad ideas. It is important to know the difference. Brink was expected to be a strong follow up to the past, but instead it ruined the original formula and it’s just not good as “its own game”. When RTCW came out it would have deserved your response, but I wouldn’t waste it on this.

Affirmative. The “Report Post” button is your best friend in cases such as this.

It pays to be honest, but you still have to be punished  Don’t forget to dress appropriately :

I was talking about Brink, just new IP’s in general…

(meisterbrau) #58

That’s all splashdamage has to say? You released a buggy, unfinished game that died after a few weeks and all you do is respond to completly off topic posts? Your business model seems to be: take the money and run.

You should invest in PR my friend. Your reputation as a developer got below zero.

No kidding. They can waste time with posts like that but they sure as hell wont tell us anything involving the game. Pathetic IMHO.

They are like sad little turtles hiding in their shells. They only pop their heads out for one second and its not to say anything worth saying. Its like they are hiding from an enraged mob. 8>)–~

(sereNADE) #60

Is splash damage keeping you from playing the game you paid for or something? what is it that they are failing to tell you?
