What happened to this game??

(joshgenocide) #1

First of all, I enjoyed this game a lot. For the small amount of time it was active. There are quite a few flaws, but I still found it enjoyable with other players.

But this game is so dead, I couldn’t even play it if I wanted to. The last few days I’ve checked, there’s been like 1 or 2 servers full or almost full.
That’s pretty pathetic.
and I just went to check now, and all servers are down.

Wtf Splash Damage? I was expecting a lot more.
I feel robbed here.
I figured since it was a small company developing the game, it would be supported and executed better.
and you plan to charge for DLC after 2 weeks? what makes you think anyone would buy it if the community is DEAD in a purely multiplayer game.
When the DLC is free, there might be slightly more people playing for a little while (like a couple weeks top)
But after that the game will be back to completely dead.

I think the smartest thing to do would be to make this game F2P as TF2 did.
I know TF2 has been out for a long time, and they’ve sold a lottt of copies before going F2P.
But it would be better SD, being free would bring a lot more players, and the people who like the game would pay for micro transactions. Which has been known to make developers of successful free games a lot of money.

That would be better than having a game you worked on for so long be completely dead wouldn’t it?

It’s sad, because I did enjoy this game a lot and thought it had a lot of potential. But if there’s no one playing, what future does this game have?

IMO you really need to smarten up SD, or you will have no fans or support left at all for your company and no one will buy your future productions (if you even have any after this huge flop).

There continually updating the game and on Xbox 360 many games are full. That can’t do much more other than lowering the price and continuing to update the game.

The biggest flaw now is the almost non existing communication between the customers and Splash Damage. Sure they are working on stuff, but their lack of openness is causing more harm then good. And it’s baffling that most companies can put a effective date on the dlc and splash damage/bethesda isn’t able to deliver one.

(DarkangelUK) #4

A lot of stuff has been baffling about this game and development process in general. I wish there was some underlying reasoning behind it all that’s leading to something bigger, but sadly I think it’s just Bethesda being morons and SD being under contract and can’t counter their moronicness.

(Seiniyta) #5

To be frank, SD always was this quiet on stuff, it’s a real frustrating way toware their customers. Why not do it like Blizzard where they tell “yeah, maybe that gun is overpowered, maybe we’ll nerf that, and we’ll probably do this and that” and hear the feedback of the people.

(TwwIX) #6

Poor communication among other things.

I certainly can’t disagree with anything you wrote. However, I was pondering this point here:

But it would be better SD, being free would bring a lot more players

Tens of thousands of players, who paid full price for the privilege of playing this game, have ate the loss and just walked away. I’m not so sure those who would pay nothing for it would not do the same.

(BomBaKlaK) #8

We all pay for a Ghost game ! at least if we can play with some players instead of playing with bots I don’t care if the game becomme free2play ! It’s better just for the survival of this game or … let him die !

Who gonna pay your DLC if there is no more players ?

(Mr. Magikarp) #9

Blizzard has never done this.

Yeah I can see your point, but I’m sure a lot of people would like to try this game. They just don’t want to pay too much for it.
I’m sure some percentage of people who try it would like it and stay.
It’s still better than the game being dead, but i guess SD still somehow thinks they can make money off this game at it’s retail price now & charging for DLC

(Seiniyta) #11

They actually do, for starcraft 2 they listen to the top level players for their imput aside the statistics, figures they have. Or some of the PTR changes reverted because the people just didn’t like it.

(big bear) #12

On the xbox many games are full? Umwhut? Its dead on the xbawks

(DarkangelUK) #13

I’m assuming that ‘always quiet’ part is referring to their Brink development, because they sure as hell weren’t quiet with ET or ETQW.

(MorsTua) #14

this happens in a common software house. They listen to customers…
I dont think in sd they are modest . They are acting like they were deaf, arrogant, pedantic, and fakely grant requests…

Atm they are granting nothing and the result is that servers are empty , the game is dead for every platform.
Go on SD, keep going on your way and soon you’ll be alone on your path. Don’t look at your back to see if people’s following you… noone is doing.

when you realize it, it will be always late

(Seiniyta) #15

They were, I’m not sure about the ET days, but they sure weren’t talkative during the Quake Wars days, except Jrad and digibob maybe who responded. And Badman for the news as always, otherwise it was the same “we’re working on stuff, what it is we won’t tell, when it’ll be out, we won’t tell, but it’l lbe out…someday”

(MorsTua) #16

called hype
the problem is that it’s generated for games that are alive or still coming out

at this point sounds really ridicolous

the secret of pulcinella!

(nephandys) #17

I play full 8v8 games on Xbox every night and have since the lag patch. If you’re having trouble you can see the thread in my sig.

(Gung-ho) #18

Looking on Steam now it’s not even on the list of what people are playing now.

If you want to play an SD game you’re going to have to wait for their next release which I believe will be approached far more apprehensively.

(big bear) #19

Nope. Thats not full servers. Thats you and your friends/clan in organized matches. There are zero 8v8 random/public games. Thats shocking for a two month old game. S.d should hang their heads in shame.

(NewBlueWorld) #20

That’s where you’re wrong. I ain’t in any clan and although I do have some brink friends, the Standard playlist always have at least one server with enough people in it.
