What do you want to see Wolfenstein 3

(Kendle) #41

What league is that? Panzers are limited to 1 in all the leagues I know of, and are often limited on public servers as well.

What’s more, not only is the Panzer in ET weaker than in RTCW but the splash damage effect is broken anyway. If you’re standing on a step, for example, and the Panzer rocket hits the step, you suffer no damage, because the splash damage effect dissipates along the plane of the object it hits.

PuP - you’ve said that you came to ET via Q3, but you don’t say how long you’ve been playing ET - to-be-absolutely-honest I found the rate-of-fire to be the single biggest and most noticable difference between the games so fsck knows what you must have thought coming from the speed-induced arenas of Quake3 :

Weapons wise, I share the same loathing and hatred of the rifle 'nade as a lot of ppl on here - much more emotive subject than panzer imo.

Finally… - So what if you spent time learning tricks in another game - why should you be able to transfer all of that advantage to a new game? It’s nice that some of the stuff I learnt (actually nearly all tbh)in RtCW is useful in ET, but I but there are enough differences to balance the playing field. btw - when you say that you want to avoid ‘wasting SD’s bandwidth’ it just sounds lame, like you’re trying to move away from something you said earlier that you’ve been picked up on.

3 seperate teams would be nice like suggested above. How about adding some supernatural team and add some of the powers the creatures had. Such as blind like in single player campaign.

Just a thought

3 teams would suck, it would probably often end with two teams bashing the third team… sounds like fun, indeed :disgust:

Beyond ET: multichannel audio! 4, 5.1,6.1, 7.1, 'spheresound’whatever.-Thats the single biggest thing I can think of. More sophisticated sound, too. (evolution of sound/video realism immersion). More subtlety/variety of character animation/actions.
selection of unique body types and walking/running cycle. more gestures that player can vary (that match chats). see '‘sniser’ post: Mar 16, 2004 - 07:42 AM-great post, great ideas. Vehicles? thats a tough one. Wouldnt be Wolf w/o radio format, but ‘local’ shout (ambient-all)could have some possibilties, dont see as much in whisper . Kicking, punching, and other postures/actions- yeah! {Garote, ‘head/neck twist’ and other classics!! Single knife plunge, throat slash, bayonet, rifle butt! Some of these might not always add so much more to attacker or victim, but to others players who see them it would add so much to game.}:not directly workable but could lend inspiration to design silent/surprise/out of ammo/hand to hand situations. Kick! Punch! Prone is great!
-Lean while croched and prone. No player standing up to die! (other means already inform us)- more natural death animation/variety/physics. Cigarrette smoking!-like when you go to adjust game settings or afk.(though I dont endorse smoking) other such ‘casual’ mods to add ‘grit’ . Get rid of construction death! I mean…why?..Is it just me or is that actually something stupid about this brilliant game? -That’s my biggest gripe and its a really small one-it could just move you or whatever. Maybe a sprite here or there or as part of OBJ or other, but maybe only
for visual purposes? (no combat sprites of course)

ET owns all. All else are just games. ET is addiciton.
ET is the only game I will play.I try others but they dont hold my interest. So dont take away what makes it so playable, deep yet immediate,
well-paced, action-packed. Rock On! Peace!

Just bag all the supernatural crap. I just slogged through it on RTCW SP to get back to killing Nazis. NOTHING is as scary or exhilarating as one on one with a decent human player.

I am with you 100% on this one. I lost interest in RtCW as soon as I entered the catacombs in the village. It got a little too much like bloody Tomb Raider for my liking. I really enjoyed the game up till then as well.

I would gladly buy a wolf game that was totally MP-centric. Unfortunately, Doom 3 will not be the engine to do it

True, apparently, D3 will only have the option of up to 4 players max in MP! wtf? I think Splash Damage should ditch doing the MP for D3 and concentrate on more maps for ET or a vastly expanded sequel would be even better.

(senator) #48

Uh, If I am not mistaken SD isn’t doing the MP part of D3 but working on a different game using the D3 Engine
So there’s no telling how many players will be supported in that game.

(doppelganger810) #49

Ah, so I might not get D3 for the multiplayer then. I was looking forward to seeing how Splash Damage did with that too. I think Doom 3 wouldn’t be able to handle a sizeable amount of players in MP due to the graphics engine requiring a lot of detail. Maybe some detail could be sacrificed for more players, but I somehow doubt it. I think 4 players max is the figure quoted. Also, id software said the closed environments of D3 are best suited to a small number of players. I was at least hoping that if SD did handle the MP, we’d see some great map design that SD are more than capable of.

(chavo_one) #50

Splash Damage did make some of the MP maps for Doom3. This was before the announcement that they were working on a different doom3 engine game.

(evilsock) #51

Maybe a 4 Player cooperative mode would be fun? Wandering round in the dark with only headtorches to throw shattered light on putrified remains - a voice-com to keep in touch with your buddies as you seperate out to clear the area…

Dunno 'bout anyone else but even the 4fps E3 demo of Doom3 demo got me going…

(CM..Punk) #52

Doom3 will only have co-op on the Xbox, not PC.

(PuP) #53

Kendle, I’ll split the difference on ignorance with you. TWL Ladders allows 2 <http://www.teamwarfare.com/rules.asp?set=Enemy+Territory+Ladders#9>. It sure seemed like three. Those panzers had talent. LOL

So no one agrees with me. OK. It’s a subjective question. I just told what I liked and didn’t like. My comment about not wasting bandwidth is just because I didn’t see a need for someone to attack me for what I said I liked… or didn’t like. You don’t agree, you’re free to say so… but don’t tell me I’m wrong about what I don’t like. Don’t be a troll. blah, blah blah…
