What do you want to see Wolfenstein 3

(Redqueen) #1

Personally I would like Splash Damage to develop the MP portion from the outset.
Nerve did a pretty decent job with RTCW’s MP but Splash Damage really it their own.

I would also like to see more freaky stuff, Wolfenstein shouldn’t be totally serious, it should include the kind of stuff you’d read and see in a Hellboy Book.

Oh yeah it should be on the D3 Engine too.

Technically there’s already been a wolfenstein 3.
Wolfenstein
Wolfenstein3D
Wolfenstein3D: Spear of Destiny (more of an expansion pack)
Rise of the Triad (this was originally a sequel to Wolfenstein3D, there’s even screenshots somewhere on the 3D Realms site to support it)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

So…I think you mean Wolfenstein4 or 5 (depending on how you look at ROTT).

EDIT: http://www.3drealms.com/rott/originalspec.html

(ildon) #3

I’m pretty sure ROTT just used the Wolf3D engine, never heard about it being any kind of sequel. But what it was intended to be doesn’t really matter, as when it was released it wasn’t Wolfenstein story related at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, if you use this as a reference: http://www.mobygames.com/game_group/sheet/gameGroupId,46/
ET is Wolfenstein 7 (not counting repackaged games or console remakes, but counting FormGen’s Spear of Destiny 2).

Please don’t do this. :’(

Just post what you want in the next Wolf game.

I WANT A GUN THAT CAN BLOW UP THE ENTIRE WORLD, MUAAHAUHAHAA

(blushing_bride) #6

i’d like it to have more nakedness in it. in RTCW no matter how hard you tried you could not look up the skirts of the sexy ladies in the village, i tried for many hours but with no success, consquently i feel cheated and traumatised from so long crouching on the floor. in fact they could combine the single player game with the covert ops from ET where the main objective is too save the world by stealing girls clothes and running around looking at flowers and duckies

on a less seroius note i’d like to see a decent single player game and a massive online game with more then 6 maps

Personally I’d like to see Activision buck the recent trend of making SP 1st persons sooo short (Unreal 2, Max Payne 2, Call of Duty etc) - £30 for a game which takes 6 hours to complete is extortionate (imho).

And as for the multiplayer, continue the develpment of the RTCW theme (if you count ET as the first ‘development’) - so more classes (what ever happened to the Ranger class? I remember this being touted for ET before it became a freebie - wasn’t it lighter armour, but faster and could jump higher??), more tactical gameplay (additional objective types), and more maps! Not asking for much really :drink:

(bacon) #8

Activision doesn’t make the games. They have no control over how long a single player game is…so you should really be complaining about the developers not Activision :stuck_out_tongue:

(fraSer) #9

Vehicles, Tanks etc
Would allow for larger more emersive MP maps.

sharks

with frickin’ lazer beams

(DG) #11

I’d rather another wolf steer away from what everybody else is doing - i.e. no vehicles.

Quake 4 engine. Other Q is wether it be more like RTCW or ET. TBH I’d rather the next one be more like RTCW, smaller scale and no rifle grenades, mines, covops, XP etc. No doubt then I’d be hoping someone to mod for XP etc…

(blushing_bride) #12

or maybe a very flexible multiplayer with some massive maps and some teeny tiny maps with an easy option to have XP or not, just so long as there are lots of maps

  • Physics (HAVOK engine drool)

  • I don’t care that much about the 3D engine, but heavily expanded lighting would rock - shooting out lights, dynamic soft shadows… hmm, flashlights…

  • Improved sound:

    • When the game is loaded, generate slight variations of certain samples, instead of playing the same one all the time. Or maybe that could be done on the fly, too.
    • The same goes for “muffled” sounds. Right now there seem to be 2 distances for bullet fire and explosions, with a hard cut. Isn’t it feasible to do that with applying lowpass filter / equalizer?
    • There is also a hard cut-off instead of a smooth, complete fadeout it seems. When will game developers finally start paying as much attention to sound as they do to graphics? I feel currently sound is the “immersion bottleneck”, not GFX. Sound and clipping errors. A non-textured game without any clipping errors and “perfect” sound would probably “feel” more realistic than anything we have today.
    • A distinction between using the radio and “shouting”. Even better, get rid of the radio completely (you could still use text chat) and only have “shout” and “whisper”. THIS WOULD OWN. I wonder if that is moddable?
  • Gestures - useful and a few silly ones. Gesturing, head movement, facial expressions while talking.

  • Vehicles. Maybe. Actually I’m not sure wether it would still be Wolf.

  • Improved particle system: clientside debris with physics that stays around for a while. Also get rid of these ugly explosion sprites - that is, use a few particles for them, instead of just an animation for the explosion and a few smoke puffs.

  • Bleeding.

  • Kicking, just like in single-player RTCW.

Uhh… I guess I will edit + expand this post later, I’ll better stop for now

eax4 5.1 sound :). more map’s, doom3 based grafix, physics engein, no verc’s and stuff… just have them the whay thay are and base it all on ETpro with the shoving using the foot from single player. Not to worried about a single player i would rather it was all mutiplayer orentated so theres more online content wich lets face it will get used much more than any single player content anyway. Ohh and for it 2 ROX

(pgh) #16

If this translates to SD doing a better job at MP than Nerve…

… you really need to bare in mind that its quite blatantly obvious that at least 50% of ET is more or less = RTCW MP. All ET is and afaik planned to be, was more or less a RTCW 2.

(evilsock) #17

I personally would like to see a gametype where it was possible to have 3 or more teams fighting it out - maybe based on a future war out in the middle-east. I also thought that it would be interesting if several commercial games ‘shared’ common engines and maps so that say whilst there’s a ground force playing through a conventional ET / RtCW map, up in the skys there’s a game like ‘crimson skies’ going on but this time they can run sorties and such over the heads of enemy positions etc - same for tanks maybe - the idea would be for each style of player (common RtCW/ET classes, Vehicles and Planes) to each have different objectives which when coordinated make for a highly tactical gameplan over-all without losing the more arcade feel for each ‘style’ of play. The hardship is trying to create a map that would satisfy each of the play-types without compromising overall play.

Just a thought…

What I would like to see in Return To Castle Wolfenstein 3:

  • XP theme more developed. Maybe a chance to save stats or perhaps run them over more maps.

  • Fireteam leaders should have the possibility to give better orders. Example: Fire Team Leader can choose that more engineers is needed. Then at next spawn the first player to start is forced to be an engineer. Or leader could just choose which types he want’s in fireteam and then members of fireteam can only choose these types.

  • MORE MAPS. Maps good for snipers.

  • Maybe campaigns that are for either Axis or Allies. So on an Axis offensive campaign, you have to win the map to get to next map. And if allies win on next map, you go back to the first map. (Maybe change spawns then). So on AXIS offensive campaign Axis have to win all 3 maps to win campaign. And then allies have to lets say win 1 map 2 times in a row to win campaign.

Just my suggestions.

@Ramsgaard [DK]:
The Price of Peace Mod will have the campaigne features that you have suggested.
Price of Peace

($pence) #20

I would love to have seen this in ET but hey ho…

I would like to see a feature where you could use your fists. …WHAT ? I hear you cry…yeah ma fists. Ok, so ma MP40 has run out of bullets as has my pistol. Now, I don’t wanna sneak up and use a knife. I want an axis to turn around and I punch him in the face

It shouldn’t be too hard to design for the game and I know it may sound a little violent but hey there are plenty of games out there that already include this feature and how awesome would it be to have a good old punch

:drink:
