We're not here to serve you =D

(amazinglarry) #1

I just remember this so well from the RtCW manual and I wanted to share it with everybody who thinks that Medics HAVE to raise you… that Field Ops HAVE to give you ammo… etc… those players are just retards. It’s nice though, when people do their job. Anyway… taken word for word from the RtCW manual… enjoy! =D

Oh… it’s on page 35 under “Etiquette” and I think since RtCW and ET are essentially the same game… it applies.

"Remember also that your teammates aren’t there to serve you - they’re there to play. Shouting the same quickchat over and over again (Medic! Medic! Medic!) is less, rather than more, likely to yield the result you want.

As a general rule, play the game, be a good sport, don’t irritate the other players, and they won’t have to call a vote and kick you from the server.

Good Luck!"

 Ahhh, finally gettin a week off from school. That means much  and much ET! See you in game!

Huh? I don’t think the quote is meaning to say “teamplay = bad”… it just points out that spamming won’t help, EVER.

People call for medics before they even touch the ground, quite often tapping out right after it because respawn is a few seconds away*… either way it is completely unnecessary, as there is a needle icon anyway! Doh! If you know you’re in a place where you’re useful and respawn is NOT near, it can’t hurt to say “revive me” just to ensure medics have a glance at the compass - but everything else done repeatedly is begging for either being muted or gibbed by medics.

Needing ammo or medpacks: say it once so the icon shows up. “giving more emphasis” by spamming it several times simply obstructs communication and makes you end up on black lists :>

  • or they lie there, calling for medics, and making a last call 2 secs before they tap out because of respawn… no no, people CLEARLY need to be told not to do this. I wish some servers would mention it in the MOTD.

If you ask for Ammo or Health:

  1. LOOK ON YOUR MAP AND NOTICE THE FO/MEDIC CHASING YOU WITH PACKS IN HAND.

  2. SAY “THANK YOU”, OR WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANNA SAY, TO GET RID OF THE ICON ABOVE YOUR HEAD AND SAVE THE FO/MEDIC RISKING LIFE AND WASTING THEIR ENERGY BAR TO GET YOU A PACK JUST SO IT CAN PASS RIGHT THROUGH YOU.

Oops, must have left the caps key on by mistake.

(Depth_Charge) #8

and that pesky size 14 key?

(eRRoLfLyNN) #9

Nothing worse than chasing a player who is spamming for a medic all the way around a map. “Turn around you ***king spOOn!!”. You definitely get to the back of the queue after that.

(next_ghost) #10

-Shot down to 60/125 -> C 2 2 HEAL ME!
-5 seconds later medic that stands a few steps from me doesn’t even turn -> C 2 2 HEAL ME!
-10 seconds later medic that stands a few steps from me doesn’t even turn -> C 2 2 HEAL ME!
-5 seconds later shot down to 20/125 -> C 2 4 REVIVE ME!
-20 seconds later the medic FINALLY notices me after spamming 10 times REVIVE ME and starts throwing med packs
-2 seconds after the first med pack hit ground comes another wave of enemy and killed us both because medic was too stupid to just shoot me and revive me.

If u select medic, the whole team depends on ur skill.

(eq-Shrike) #11

I agree …playing medic well to benefit your team requires effort on the medics part.
It took me a while to get out of the rambo mindset that most medics seem to have these days.

When I’m playing I saee my main role as supporting the main push towards the objective. I always make sure that:

  • I’m at the back of the pack ready to revive rather than leading the pack and getting cut down
  • I drop med packs behind people in the front line for them to retreat over
  • I constantly keep and eye out for v21’s
  • I’ll monitor teammates health to revive as soon as they hit the floor so the enemy can’t send them to limbo
  • I’ll watch the command map to see where the fighting is so I be where I’m most effective

the same can apply to people (esp medics) who call for ammo while running out of spawn and continue to run even though i ama field ops and and i am running after them saying v6 v6 vfucking 6.

idiots

nothing personal errol just a general thought

Applies to Engineer as well methinks

(BlackDeath) #14

IMO a good medic’s recharge bar should not be full most of the time.

(sniser) #15

Neat. So you ran into a noob medic. As you’re basically saying yourself, spamming voicechat doesn’t help in that case. You wasted 30 seconds hanging around a useless medic? That’s just as useless. Call for a medic, but KEEP PLAYING. Respawn is every 20-30 seconds after all. Nothing more annoying than people looking at each other dishing out packs or demanding and waiting for packs (unless it’s the opposing team of course :>).

Clueful medics will check the health status of all teammates they come across anyway, and heal without being asked to. Of course sometimes you might get overlooked - I’m not saying you should never call for medics. But what you just described is the definition of useless, and I mean both you and the medic. Don’t expect good players to team up with you when you play that way…

If you play ANY class on a pub server, the whole team depends on you not to spam & annoy & get stuck up on a particular player being a noob.

yep, my mentality when playing a pub. Always hope for the best, never waste your time demanding. I rarely call for meds or ammo, cuz if they’re a good med or fd op, you don’t need to ask them. I mean, if I’m a medic staring at you, and you’re a fd op staring at me, might be a good sign I’m looking for some ammo. Almost all decent players are constantly scanning their own teammates for spies, names, and conditions. A medic will usually try to correct that problem.

nothing is worse than harrassing a clueless medic or fd op for packs while having your back turned and defenseless.

And if you’re on the defending team near your own spawn point, you can always /kill for ammo.

I was escorting an Engineer to the gun controls (as a medic). We just got inside and was on the balcony above the gun when the engie was killed.I shot the offending axis chappie and ran over to the engi.As i crouched to revive him he tapped out :OOO

We never did win that round on battery. :frowning:

A good medic should allways be monitoring their teams health and should drop packs/tk revive without anyone on their team asking for it.
Also allways crouch when you revive. The amount of medics i see who get killed when they are trying to revive someone is unreal.
Chances are the guy who shot your prospective patient is still hanging around so crouch behind the fallen chap, revive him and if you do come under attack use your patients few seconds of invulnerability as a shield. Then when he’s on reload just shoot him in the head and move on

I class myself as a good medic .I heal people and do these duties the best i can .If i’m given ammo i always say thanks and this makes the game more enjoyable for me.
I allways have to smile to myself the amount of field ops who want to team with me or seem to hang around with me because i look after them so well.
A good field op and medic is a great combo imo.

The game just flows better with good medics tbh. I try to get level 3 medic status asap so I can offer full revive - should be able to get it from a single map and then concentrate on the role more - better to get at least some of the XP you need for faster reloads etc. than remain a lvl1 med for 20 minutes.

Medics should perfect the ‘drive-by revive’ - if you time it right, you can literally run over the body of a dead teammate and jab with your needle without crouching to revive him - this is really important on maps like Goldrush where engineers are getting mown down by the mg nest behind the bridge - that’s when lvl3 medic full revive comes into it’s own - your man has 3 seconds of invunerability with the enemy in his line of sight - so long as he has some ammo left and chooses not to reload, he can ting ting ting his opponent without taking any hits himself - btw, that kind of revive was really hard to be consistant with, without the crouch in RtCW - much, much easier in ET

(BondyBoy007) #19

I agree with the “drive-by” revive, I always used to crouch when sticking someone with my needle but in the past couple of months I’ve missed key revives due to this. After I’ve revived and I’m under fire then I still crouch behind the invunerable person after I’ve done a drive by

(evilsock) #20

I’d agree with that on clan servers (sticking behind the guy you just revived), but on pubs your asking for way too much intelligence on the part of the guy you’ve just revived to get his act together and know what your doing - heh.
