hello…
Well here we are 2012. Well its been 3 days now and Splash damage has dropped the ball… again.
The et main server list is down. And-Yeah Its gone unnoticed by splash damage.
We did all these wonderful server upgrades for everyone else “BUT” the one who have 10.000 + servers
in et wolf. Of Who rely on the main servers list supplied by splash damage to receive their members and new plays to their paid for servers. These same people who splash damage has forgotten about have serous coin tied up in hosting fees and other services for this game that was released in 2002- {2001 beta}. I think… that 3 days is enough time to find the ET Wolf redirect with both hands and a map Guys.
I suppose that If you where not going to host the main servers list anymore. You could have told someone eh? or otherwise take the risk of being sued by the countless players that host this game. Since they seem to be out the coin that they thought was spent wisly on their ET WOLF server hosted by -YCN - Game servers - and about 15 other hosts out their who will soon be asking you the same questions that I am in this post.Because the renters will be wanting their payments back from the hosts once they get wind of the fact that you forgot about them in your great upgrade. I have myself have lost 12 members in the past 3 days due to this -forgetting about the ones that play -that old game as I was asking one of your guys on tweet… then who said… something about a game I thought sucked…BRINK… If I recall. after spending 60.00 bucks on this game. So yeah… For some reason I am not happy with splash damage. Anyone>?
well you guys did all these upgrades but???
The Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Master Server is actually located at id Software, and not here at Splash Damage. id are working to resolve the the server issues everyone’s been seeing. We’ll let you know once we hear more from them.
afaik the masterserver for wet, rtcw, q3 and i bet etqw are all down.
I would be really surprised if they came online again, looks to much as a plan not an accident.
im hoping that theyll prove me fail tho
Consider the latest developments regarding exploits with the simple protocol being used for connecting to the game.
Well its just a guess, but I doubt that id Software would disable the masterserver just cause they can.
Common these guys are legendary
Give them some time to fix a free service …
in the meantime check Splatterladder or Trackbase, or simply

/connect bunker2.aaxxss.com
/connect bunker4.aaxxss.com
shamelessly advertising
What I’m most afraid of, on a regular basis, is that the people in charge will some day get a boss who think that money is everything, and that it will somehow benefit their company to shut down a free service (which it will not), the service that made them what they are today.
Some “smart person” with the clever idea that shutting down ET will create a noticeable effect on splashdamage/id sales.
That’s why it’s a relief that browser lists for money-games are also down.
I don’t know where you get this information. Badman. That statement above would be a flat lie. The SSL points to splash damage. The list points to your host-to your servers… and not to Id communications host-if they had one. which they don’t. They have one for selling products and receiving. all their “other” SSL Certificate Validation runs thru 3rd parties cisco servers. The time stamps on the main servers list- when ET server went down matches -the time stamps that match you’re upgrades. explane that one to us? what are the odds of that happening eh>?
Please do not lie to us. Just fix the thing.
well this is what we used to have back in time in our cfg
// MASTER SERVERS TO REPORT TO
set sv_master1 “etmaster.idsoftware.com”
set sv_master2 “master.gamespy.com:27900”
set sv_master3 “master0.gamespy.com”
set sv_master4 “clanservers.net”
set sv_master5 “” ////mk
looks like gamespy and idsoftware to me
None of the master servers for any games developed by Splash for id (including Wolf: ET) are hosted at or maintained by Splash Damage - that’s all handled by id.
OK, but did you receive a clear response from ID ?
I mean :
- they have stopped the free-service of an unsupported-game
OR - they have a technical problem
I’ve asked the same thing to my hoster ( http://location.fkclan.fr/ ) and they have no response to mail at ID software …
It is very strange to have zero communication with them.
We are in the cloud …
Could we get a reply about situation in ID please? Are they fixing it so long? Did they abandon it? What is gonna happen?
Feel free to contact with them then.
But as shouted in internet news site, the ID Software fired unknown number developers, because of bad work with RAGE.
So maybe the one of developers had shut the master server(s) down.
If they did so then shame on them.
However,if ID Software had dropped the support to the following games that doesn’t have master server
currently, then Carmack shoulded tweet it via Twitter.
Well, I don’t think they will answer E-mail from a random guy. But I’m sure they will reply to old partners.
You try to contact ID software this is what you get as contact page…

I took the time on friday and called this mark guy,
He said ID Software is under going restructuring. and maybe
“out” for sometime. The investors are unhappy it would seem.
He siad he was aware of the et thing- but I got the feeling after speaking
To him that et dont make them money- So whats the point.
Maybe someone should remind them that a few thousand players
Still play et eh>?

We should as “the cloud” about this change at ID software.

Or not… Idea’s >?

Maybe if they’re restructuring, they’ll not think first “OK, let’s fix & up the master server of a ten years old free game first”?
