Ways to improve FPS

([=O=]SMYLER) #41

Would this “lower the sound quality and get better fps” situation not be dependant on say…whether or not your sound is on board or a seperate card. Or is that just bollocks ?

If not what sort of increase does anyone get personally from changing sound from high to low quality ?

I love people with low end systems claiming to get high FPS. You know they are so full of crap and never did any real benchmarking.

I lowered my sound to the lowest setting and didn’t see any difference in my fps. It must be the on board sound then or it’s just a load of hoop or work in machines that are struggling.

If a machine is struggling to play the game I’d recommend doing a dual boot with that linux thing as those boys seem to be squeezing every ounce out of their hardware, even if it only to get the likes of a few games going, I know it looks REALLY difficult to get things running in ET but maybe one of the vets could give you a hand.

Don’t anyone call me a fool for recommending linux as a gaming platform 'cos I’m not, I’m just saying it might run ET better on lower specification hardware.

I seem to be getting very good fps ratings in some levels.
Radar was 20FPS now its 50FPS. i have GeForce 2 Ti with details set to high and resolution set to 1152. I have also passed 200FPS on some levels with this card.

i used to get about 20 fps on Radar, but then i re-formatted my disk, and now i get up to the 60’s! Have a GeForce 2 ultra.

I’m getting 120 FPS on average with 90 processes running in the background. :drink:
