Are there any ways??
Ways to improve FPS
Three simply ways to go about it :
- turn down resolution and turn everything graphical off.
- Buy the biggest hairiest arsed bitch of a PC with an AMD 3200+/P4 3.06, 3GB pc32000 memory, and an Nvidia FX 5900 or Radeon 9800 (or whatever they are up to nowadays.
- Some of the lads/ FF off ladies will maybe explain their tweaks to you.
Here an excerpt from the reamde that comes with ET:
- Performance Boosters
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory allows you to customize your settings so that you can improve the visuals or decrease them. Some of them have a greater impact on performance than others. Below are some settings that will improve your performance, but at the expense of the visuals:
- Set the system options to ‘Fastest’
- \com_maxfps (set to a high number i.e 400)
- \cg_atmosphericeffects 0
- \cg_wolfparticles 0
- \r_fastsky 1
- \r_picmip 3
- \cg_drawgun 0
But be aware that some server admins restrict these cvars through Punkbuster, e.g. some force cg_atmosphericeffects to 1.
I have Geforce 2 MX 64 Mo + Athlon 1 GHz (now 2200+
)
(I tried all the cvar changes but this has had almost no effect on fps
)
Making color depth decrease from desktop default (32 bits) to 16-bits
really helped me a lot … many fps gained

Since I play 800x600 16-bits color depth, I like radar map
Are you talking to me ??? (with R. de Niro style)
It’s enough to give you a lesson Brinkman come’on
This is a place I like in radar map… FPS shutdown
Hey Vaticool that fps isn’t bad considering your video card. Did you mention above that you have overclocked your 1GHZ Athlon to 2200+ ?
no
I just wasted €137.00 for 2200+ and MoBo
but I think the performance was the same with my old 1GHz
say i was thinking, ive got my 2 year old pc, pentium 3 800mhz , and am considering to buy a geforce 4 mx (just to play on it once in a while) will it be playable enough? i do not expect the 100ish fps, but something around 40 would be good, especially when i try radar on this pc, the fps go down to 15 lol, anywayz u find it a good idea? i mean its extremely cheap, but as i only play et and have another pc i dunno if i really need it
I suppose you mistype something
In brief (these are approximations), I suppose you have AGP 4X support:
GF4 MX420 is same Memory Bandwidth as Geforce 2 MX
GF4 MX440 is twice the Memory Bandwidth of Geforce 2 MX
GF4 MX460 is three times more Memory Bandwidth than Geforce 2 MX
read here for memory Memory Bandwidth:

vaticool has it right
grfx cards scale w/ system speed, so your p3 rig wont benefit from a grfx card faster than the geforce 4mx line. the diff in fps between a 440 and 460 prolly wont be more than a few in ET(as opposed to other games), so pick either of those based on what you wanna pay.
dont be a fool like the rest of us, who dropped alot of $$$$ and didnt get fuck all of an FPS increase :banghead:
Radar is very fillrate intensive.
Using a lower resolution, 16-bit, disabling antialiasing and anisotropic filtering will give it a boost.

hope it helps
the other option is to blink constantly all day. this will help normalize teh choppiness in ET, and youll play better
: )
The only way for you to have a video card like this is to own a RAM factory. :drink:
Heh, if you had one, you’d:
A. Know it’s not a GeForce 4 FX, it’s a GeForce FX
B. Know your model
and
C. Send the card back for defective ram, since it’s 128MB, not 126
I don’t even know why people still go with Nvidia anymore, anyway. THG compared the GeForce FX 5900 256MB vs the ATI Radeon 9800 128MB and the radeon at worst was just as good and at best tromped all over the FX, all while having half the ram.
drivers
is why ill stick w/ nvidia - but both companies are making fantastic cards right now - truely a great thing for us consumers
