Very annoying players in ET

(karpo_007) #1

Unfortunately, people like what Im about to describe have become more common in ET. In every Spawn they choose someone from the team and then shoot him untill he is half dead. If medic heals him, he shoots again. If voting is disabled, there is really nothing you can do. If you TK him he will complain and eventually this will lead being kicked.

I don’t know IF there is anything that can be done about this, but it’s very annoying if you become the target.

This is called bleeding and happens on both RTCW and ET the only way to get rid of them is either the admin bans them or try and vote them off

(ND80) #3

Play on servers that you know who the admins are and know how to get a hold of them if one of the low lifed idiots try to ruin the game.

(karpo_007) #4

Problem is that the servers that have nost players and lowest pings usually don’t allow Voting, and Admins are rarely there. Guess I should find servers that do allow it.

(ND80) #5

I run 6 ET servers that are very busy and ping low. I also have 10 admins besides myself and if we arent playing, we are very accessible via IM. Additionally, voting is enabled.

(karpo_007) #6

I live in Finland, Europe, and usually look servers with ping under 80. Hopefully when full version is released it will bring more monitored servers.

(ND80) #7

Well, Im certainly not going to ping under 80 to someone in Europe. Sorry and good luck.

Heh, I just came onto these forums to post a similar thread about the number of w****rs that seem to be in ET. I played RTCW since the day of release and always found it to be a good community. Only once did I encounter a deliberate TKer in RTCW.

The little b*****rds are everywhere in ET though. Today I was playing on a server and the game was going great, it was a really balanced match. The fight had been raging for about 15 minutes and was centred around the fuel depot gates. Then some tosser decided to switch teams to axis and PF the spawn. He took out about 5 people and then did it again for the next spawn! This of course lead to the allies planting four dynas in the depot and winning approximately 45 seconds after the second TK. For the second one I saw it through his eyes as there was a little ammo/health party going on in the spawn and he lined up the panzer and blew them to high heaven. So then I wrote a message saying so and he left, and probably rejoined moments later under another name.

Personally I’d love to see a big brother type of situation just for a month or two after release where a handful of trusted community players are given carte blanche to ban anyone they see deliberately TKing. I know that the TKs will reduce over time as they get bored of TKing this game and move onto another, but until then the game is being ruined for the rest of us.

On a side note - there do seem to be a larger number of general idiots in ET than in wolf. I had the pleasure of watching a match where one person held a grudge against someone and would follow him round ‘bleeding’ him and trying to bait him into TKing him. Always accompanied by messages like “remember me asshole - I’m going to make your life a living hell you ****”.

I seriously hope this problem dies out. Might I suggest requiring an RTCW cd key to play server option so that there can be a series of more trustworthy servers around. I’m getting really sick of them all. I haven’t had a good ET game in ages because of them.

Here’s an idea - how about each person can only have one ET profile and name per windows profile and name? I know it’s still possible to change names if you really want to, but at least it’d be more work for them and might act as a deterrent.

Food for thought… can intentionally gimping teammates actually help your team’s XP?? :

sample:

  1. You and your buddy gimp each other at the spawn as you jog out.

  2. A 3rd buddy who goes medic sprints forward and tosses out medpacks.

  3. You and buddy heal up + 8 free XP for your medic!

I’m really surprised that I haven’t seen a whole bunch of Allies squad go off and circle-gimp-heal or circle-TK-revive each other yet, especially since Allies are often at an XP disadvantage.

EDIT: I should also say that I guess I’m lucky that I haven’t seen any of that kind of malicious gimping behavior yet on the server I run. BTW it’s the (oWo)|FAST|BeerGarden @ 65.112.20.45:28000 if any peeps want to try it out.

(karpo_007) #10

It has been time since I have played RTCW, but I to didn’t notice nearly as much of these people in it. I guess servers with Admins is the only working solution for this.

(Vengeance) #11

u dont get exp for reviving some1 who has been teamkilled

(NoSoup4U) #12

Have not read all the posts : But if you encounter f*ckwiths like that, be sure to record a demo right at that instant : While demo-ing his behaviour for a minute or so, ask gently that he should stop it . Ask again to be sure.
Then say you’re demo-ing, and planning on getting in contact with the admin (as they can trace people back) .
If he does not react now, be sure to let your demo reach the right person.

Yes, for servers that dont have any admins around ever… dont play there

(karpo_007) #13

Sounds like a plan.

It’s a free download. Any kid with internet access at school can get it, not to mention all the little brats that can get it at home. Most likely these kids will have a short attention span and move on to something else soon. Hopefully.

Maybe instead of it just being a free download, they should require a credit card for proof of age. May not help, but it would probably deter a few of them.

(gurb) #15

You don’t need voting enabled to kick a player.

As long as the server is set up w/ punkbuster: http://www.evenbalance.org/publications/players/ read the part about “pb_kick”.

(NoSoup4U) #16

Yes, like me : 24 year old student who is not elligible for one : Would make me not able to play this game ?

(Shane) #17

Sorry sir, but that just isn’t happening - ever. Proof of age isn’t jumping jack crap of whose TKing you. Heck, it could be some 40-year old guy having a bad day at the office, so during his lunch break he takes out his Thompson and pops a few ET heads. He’d rather TeamKill, because he’s picturing all his allies as his bosses and co-workers.

People aren’t willing to give out credit card numbers. Being a 17-year old student, I don’t have a credit card, nor do I want one. It’s complete blasphamy if you think something similar to that would work. Plus, the money and security spent to make that system fool-proof is absurd.

(Steve) #18

Come on. You mean to tell me that you think it’s not kids that do these kinds of things?? Plz.

But if you still think this idea sucks, let’s hear some others. A solution is what we need, regardless of who it comes from. :drink:

(bani) #19

but what about feeding medpacks to someone who has been team-bled?

i can see a pair of medics going off and bleeding/healing each other to get monster-medic level in no time.

(Dr. Rosenrosen) #20

Will the pb_kick keep the player from rejoining? We had a real pest on a server I just played (screenname: loco) who kept vote spamming and bleeding and being a nuisance. We could vote him off, but he would immediately reconnect and continue doing the same.
