No, the pb_kick wont prevent the player from rejoining, nor will the kick if voting is enabled. The pb_kick vote usually kicks for two minutes. Most admins have the kick time short because pb can and does kick players all the time for reasons that dont pertain to nothing they are doing wrong. I was/am an admin for Xian’s ID RTCW servers and now with my own 15 servers for RTCW and ET, I have had a lot of experience with idiot players in both games. Kicks are almost always ineffective because of just what you mentioned, the idiot usually returns to cause more problems. That’s why it is my policy for my servers, that if an idiot plagues the servers, whether it’s tking or some other form of idiocy, they are banned from the servers. Personally, although I have it enabled right now on my servers, Im not a big fan of enabling player’s ability to vote. Usually, this option is abused as much as it is used effectively.

That’s why, as I mentioned above, it’s important to play on servers that have regular server admins that will try to weed out the players that just want to cause problems. You should see the size of my ban file for the ET servers :-). It is even a bigger problem in ET than it ever was for RTCW because of the ability to easily reinstall the game.

Screw That! Most don’t have nor can get a credit card, if they did this, i’d lose complete faith in them. Maybe they should just completely ban TKing all together, like make a mod or something that auto kicks anyone who TK’s someone or inflicts damage on any teammate, or auto inforces No-FF. I know your gonna say “Oh but that’ll make the game lame, cause it makes it more challenging and all that with FF on” Well no offense, but you gotta give a little too get a little. I ain’t saying i support the stupid TK s***s but if you cut out FF, then there purpose is not even note worthy. And in fact, it may actually convince them too actually play, and then they can find out how fun it can be not splattering your teammates with a air strike canister.

Also the way they think is, if they get on a No-FF server they find that out and goto the FF on servers, if all went No-FF, then there wouldn’t be any TKers, simple.

On a side note - there do seem to be a larger number of general idiots in ET than in wolf. I had the pleasure of watching a match where one person held a grudge against someone and would follow him round ‘bleeding’ him and trying to bait him into TKing him. Always accompanied by messages like “remember me asshole - I’m going to make your life a living hell you ****”.

That may have been me (getting baited, I mean). I was playing a game with some fool called Creeper on my team who got stressed with me over something… Oh yeah, he stabbed me while I was lying prone, looking through my binoculars, which of course got my ire up. I asked him what he was at and he started moaning because I wouldn’t give him any ammo (I was a Field Ops). He didn’t seem to appreciate that I was performing some of the Field Ops’ other duties (directing artillery strikes around the bridge/command area).

To tell the truth, I probably should have been paying more attention, but once he TKed me, I was having none of it. Then, of course, he spent the rest of the game trying to goad me into getting myself kicked. Which I did. The story has a happy ending though, because it was my server (62.254.160.75:28000, in Dublin for you Irish, Brits and other Euros) and I /rcon kicked him off :slight_smile:

No, don’t think it was you. This guy simply joined the server then immediately went off on one against this other guy. It seemed like it was some grudge he had from a previous time.

i was speccying on blueyonder other night and there was 2 BK clan members on allies and all they did was this.

both behind allied ammo/health suppy at first spawn
1 medic 1 lieut and all they did was shoot eachother
heal and dish out ammo to themselves, then they would
swap roles and carry on… and on and on.
i asked what u doing and just got a reply having a laugh

i never saw them once doing nething to help their team etc
and they both ended up top of the allies in the score board !

AFAIK you don’t get XP for reviving someone you TK’ed, but you get the 2 XP for each medpack pickup no matter what, as long as you’re not healing yourself.

I wouldve called them XP whores and then try to get them kicked or if u play on a server with admin tell them and get um banned

Well if all they are doing is sitting back behind the battlefield than they are taking up two slots and hurting their team badly, no matter if they will be “uber” later in the round or not. The first really important medic upgrade is level 3 which is full revive and you get that within the first round easily if you are actually doing your job. As for being field ops, if you can’t level up to at least 3 in one round by just pooping out ammo then you shouldn’t be playing this game, its by far the quickest class to level up its profession in my opinion.

Drags cd key from RTCW.

Ban keys not IP addresses. Oh you could be nice and stick timer on there like daily files, keep ban list for x days.

If someone wants to keep spending 10-20 bucks to buy cd keys fine.
