Valid CDkey not reaching ?

(DrDeemer) #1

Getting the CDkey not reaching guid thingy alot.
I’ve deleted it and it generated a new one ok fine… buit it wont hold it
and its how I get admin power when im on teh server, so a new key daily aint gona werk. What am I doing wrong or is it the patch? Cuz it was fine before i upgraded to the 2.60 on client and on our server.

in console ` type /pb_sv_guidauth 1 and reconnect might take one or two trys :). the error usually comes up when the hosting companies firewall isnt configured properly . and with 2.6 patch seems more inherrant

it is a firend mine who give that help but sometimes you need to do that severall times

goood luck Pinnacle

(Calzonzin) #5

Yep, I’m getting that a lot too. Yesterday i took about 5 minutes worth or trying just to connect to a server (and that’s a LOT of tries!)

(Bltz|Rabbit) #6

Ok Ive found away around this. Use All Seeing Eye that seems to pass by through it. I did a little testing on it.
I used reg et found some servers that gave me that message over and over and over again and then whipped out ASE and connected to that same server and it let me in. I experimented with that about 5 different times so I know it works and I didnt just get lucky.

(MadMattUK) #7

Wasn’t this sort of thing supposed to be sorted in the new patch? :???: . I hope it is ( I’m not not sure about this as we are still on version “1.Whatever” on the NW server, as ET pro hasn’t been updated to accomodate the new patch yet :frowning: .

also try this

unzip this to your etmain, and make a shortcut to it on your desktop … when u want to delete your etkey just click the shortcut

I use batch file to delete etkey when i load ET - send ASE to the batch file etc as well

Only thing is, lately I hit a lot of servers that gimme “Empty CDKey not allowed on this server” :frowning:

Dilemnas!!

(SCDS_reyalP) #10

Note that if you play in a league that requires GUID registration, you should keep one etkey file around that matches your registered GUID. Also, some servers set a minimum age requirement for GUIDs, so it may be better to keep a handful stockpiled and just switch them when you get the error, rather than deleting.

Sure would be nice if someone would fix this.

(Nail) #11

downloading the newest files from evenbalance site and manually installing them seems to have worked for some people

(SCDS_reyalP) #12

There are plenty of temporary workarounds, but the question remains why people who have a working connection and a valid GUID get the error ?

Note #2: Try this command

/pb_cdkeyverauto 1

then

/pb_writecfg

theres more to come since it didnt work for me  but i could have bad luck , waiting for a response from Stuart at EvenBalance

(DG) #15

someone the other day sorted it by removing their hosts file. :???:

you’ll probably know what and where it is if it’s got so large* as to become a DNS problem, but incase you’ve been running some adblocking software (firefox, adaware, spybot do not count) check whats in the “hosts” file (no extension, open with notepad) which is probably located at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Likely to need to be huge before it’s going to be a problem, like several hundred kb’s worth of entries or something, and even then seems a bit strange IMHO, buthis problem went away straight afterwards.

(eRRoLfLyNN) #16

Not deleting the CDkey with the batch file, and just doin /pb_cdkeyreg and then /reconnect when I get the error, seems to be doin the business for me.

Wish i’d seen DG’s page earlier!

Unfortunately it hasn’t improved my aim / style / general ability to play ET - please explain how this is done :nag:

(SCDS_reyalP) #17

@DG, i get the cdkey, and only have about 7 entries in my hosts file. The only way I could see it having anything at all to do with this would be if your hosts file contained an entry for the guidauth server or something like that…

Now there have been cases of people modifying their hosts or DNS to avoid CD key checking (in most games, the gameserver you connect to also has to do the same thing, AFAIK)

(eRRoLfLyNN) #18

pb_cdkeyreg only works sometimes actually, just been denied over 5 times trying it on different servers. This is really becoming annoying, hate ET when it behaves like this…

Note #5: Hmm, we are also looking into the key server itself. It has been known to go down sometimes. That may have happened over the holiday.

(no_shad) #20

I always blamed the problem on my router dropping packets or something.
