[Updated!] MOA and FEL-IX Balance changes from an actual snipers POV

-> Reduce MOA base damage to 72, so that one can down a Fragger but not follow up with a finishing shot, but not have much else changed for the FEL-IX.
-> Increase FEL-IX mobility to equal that of assault rifles.

I think these two changes are all we really need.

Actually GM6 LYNX (Fel-IX) is 11.5 Kg and its a Semi-Auto

while

PTRD (MOA) is 17.3 Kg is Single-Shot bolt-action

soo, that part where you said that Felix should have higher mobility than MOA sounds about right.

(tbh i only like it because the increased mobility makes me be even more agressive as a sniper)

goddamn its an AR-15.

i know about AR-15 50 Beowulf but not .50 bmg

i read about it, its a skeleton weapon with even less weight compared to Fel-IX

the Bohica Arms .50 weighed 10.2 Kg (without the T2 upper with mag)
the T2 upper with mag certainly a bit heavier but cant be heavier than Fel-IX.

so maybe the MOA would be the Aggro sniper rifle (lighter and faster to operate).

snipers are annoying as fuck already we don’t need a fucking buff since this game has automatic weapons deal low damage sniper rifles are just ridiculous at times we need a buff we need a nerf so there is a idle sway of snipers and they are much harder to use then now

instant gib is what i fucking hated about the old db some fucking asshole just instantly camps and kills our medic with 80/90 health it’s a joke really i am greatful they can’t instantly gib low hp mercs

scope thing is ok in my opinion

Sniper in TF2 can instakill enemies with one charged shot.
nobody seems to complain over there.

shooting with vasilli is really hard and the skill ceilling is very high.
to be able to camp on the back of your spawn and kill the entire team is 2 thing.

  1. The vasilli is very experienced.
  2. The team he just wiped is a bunch of noobs who just joined dirty bomb.

Gibbing 80-90 hp mercs is really hard since their hitbox is smaller and they run faster.

It takes skill.

How about a new sniper mechanic; full health targets will take a maximum of their max hp -1 on body shots, but full damage on headshots, then the Felix could get it’s damage buff, and other nerfs wouldn’t cripple it

thats something i was thinking off as well. before the headshot instagib there mustve been a line of code which said “if sniper headshot > instagib” so there must be a possibility to add a line that says “if sniper headshot > -170hp but not gibbed” i know this is a huge oversimplification, so basically there must be an option to do 170 damage to 80 hp mercs without instagibbing them.

@JJMAJR it’s way different with shotguns, it’s actually difficult to one-shot body-shot someone with a shotgun, even the Remburg, which deals massive damage if all the pellets hit, this mechanic would be exclusive to sniper rifles

I still feel like adding a gimmick where “no weapon 1-shot bodyshots” is not the best way to go about fixing the FEL-IX.

It’s not a gimmick, it’s a balance idea, I want the Felix to be able to be unique to other snipers, right now it’s basically a worse MOA, this implementation could open it up for buffs to damage, without making it overpowered

@JJMAJR we are only applying the “no weapon 1-shot bodyshots” mechanic to the FEL-IX so that it can do 170 headshot damage, no other gun will have that mechanic.
