Unknown Diconnect??Please Someone help!!

(IGoreI) #1

I have been having Unknown dosconnects for a while, even after reinstalling windows, and the game, it keeps occuring(yes I manually updated pb). I’ve read on some servers this seems to be somewhat common. It doesn’t matter what kind of server I try it always happens between maps, some I even get into the game only to be dropped for “unknown reason” after a few seconds. My game loads in less than 60 seconds. My comp more than meets the requirements, the only thing that is a minimum is the ram.

It seems odd that you are now “selling” Et with RTCW when this seems to such a common problem, when ET was fist called an unfinished product.I’ve dl a fresh copy, and the 1.02 patch and every single server kicks me between maps.If there is some easy fix please someone tell me, I love this game but it is becomming very frustrating.

Upgrade your memory…

I geuss I should, but why are they “selling” it when this is a common problem, and I meet the minimum. Maybe they should up the requirements if what is stated is not enough. And what about the profile.pid bug??? I found etloader, but it’s only on one obscure website, and I haven’t heard of anyone using it.

The minimum 128 MB may be enough on W98 (though I doubt it), but W2K and XP really wants a lot more RAM. Closing all other applications and setting the swap file to a fixed size (at least 500 MB) might help somewhat.

Oh, and it’s Activision that are selling RtCW+ET, not SplashDamage.

First of all they are not selling Enemy Territory, You can buy the RTCW platinum pack which includes the free Enemey Territory/

Second: Why wouldn’t they include this great game? That you are having problems does not mean the entire world has the same problem, even further this doesn’t even mean that its the fault of Enemy Territory.

And third, True system specs would be helpful, since we all have other opinions on “decent” and “minimum requirements”.

This should include.

OS (Operating System + version) example: Windows XP Pro SP1
CPU
Videocard + driver version
Memory
Motherboard
Internet Connection (56k,isdn,cable,dsl etc)

Back to a solution.

When you get disconnected do you see “Inadequate O/S privileges” msg in the console?
if so follow the instructions at the top of the following page.

Well…like I said, maybe they should at least increase the min. specs. I never said it was SD, I was just wondering if somehow the retail version miht be better.
My comp:XP pro, was ME, still had same prob.900mhz Duron with 3d now, Geforce2 Ti with the newest Forceware drivers, 128 sdram (I know…puny), and I have a cable internet connection(upstream 63073, down 2442116 B/s, 170 packets pers second;according to all seeing eye auto config). So I geuss it all comes down to ram??, I think I just had to vent my frustration, IMO this is the best FPS game out there, and it drives me nuts that I can’t get more then one map at a time. No I do not get that error the line looks like this " Server has disconnected for unknown reasonpunkbuster client not connected to a server" yes those two words are not spaced. Like I said sometimes I actually make it to the game, and usually before I can get to the limbo screen it kicks me. I had assumed it was a server timeout setting, but it happens on absoloutly every server I try. Again, I wasn’t accusing SD of selling anything, that’s not even their role, and yes it is “selling” it since RTCW is a what 3-4 year old game?? Obviously Activision is trying use ET as a selling point, we all know a lot of people mainly buy for the multi player. And like I said, from what I understand, SD called it an “unfinished” product that they generously gave to the gamming public. Activision should be kicked in the nuts for retailing it. And let me thank SD for this great game. If it all comes down to my ram, than someone please up the requirements, to avoid this stress in the first place.

New system requirements: 256 MB RAM (512 MB recommended for Windows XP users)

Feel better?

You may be able to play on non-PB servers, since I think it’s Punkbuster that times out and kicks you.

(Genesis) #8

I only have 256mb ram and use winXP-pro, i get the “unknown reason” sometimes. But when it disconnects after a map load, it usually says “no packet flow”. Also when i reconnect it takes about 5 secs for it to load again, so i dont really bother getting pissed about it…

I would like more ram tho :frowning:

(IGoreI) #9

Wow genisis, it’s nice to know you can show everyone my info if i get any hack attempts I’ll report you first. And I’m not a noob, I just need more ram. Why are there so many idiots that roam the net, I came here for help, if it’s nothing but a ram issue, that’s easy. But there’s always some dipsh!t that has to come and be insulting, is your life so void of self confidence that you feel the need to insult someone on the fact that they can’t afford a top of the line system??? You probably suffer from micropenis. That aside thanks for the info, those that actually posted to help me.

You lose.

Thank you for playing.

(IGoreI) #11

Lose what??? lol, I suppose it’s appropriate to determine someones info and make it public on a forum.

(Sauron|EFG) #12

Maybe you should just hold back on the insults and accusations until you’ve understood how it works.

I used to have the same sig, and was also accused of trying to hack a guys computer. He even said he worked for an ISP, but at least he realised the truth before I was able to respond to his first PM.

(IGoreI) #14

oH…man I’m sorry, that’s a neat trick, lol. Kinda scary…maby I am noobish.I didn’t think you hacked me, I know just visiting a site would leave all that behind, I thought of it like you were giving out my phone number or something.

900mhz Duron with 3d now, Geforce2 Ti with the newest Forceware drivers, 128 sdram

 do i need to say more?? You really should upgrade to a new system.

(Ragnar_40k) #19

Bah, I played since RtCW with a similar config (Duron 700, GeForce 2 GTS, 256MB). The fps was low but playable (only map loading time was horrible).

(IGoreI) #20

The game plays awesome , usually 50-76(capped)fps. ya the loading is painful, but I can play fine, just keep getting booted between maps.I’ll just have to put up with it,until I can upgrade. Also my card is 64mb, but it doesnt seem to help.
