Case roulette more often than not inundates you with lead cards with no real chance of getting something decent - Yeah I know this is why trade up exists but getting constant lead cards is irritating, Players shouldn’t feel the need to sacrifice their 1st born or a sibling to RNGesus to get what they want :stuck_out_tongue:

Aside from differing skins, giving us some clear differences between Bronze, Silver, Gold & Obsidian/Founder cards - The ability to trade these would shut up the inevitable “i wasn’t around for Obsidian/Founder” bandwagon.

Giving us the chance to re-roll cards, a lot of people I know have some utterly worthless gold cards which would be nice to change.

Removing weapons from cards and giving us the ability to choose the weapons we want instead of getting stuck with the junk we despise - yes weapon balancing is implied so you can choose depending on play style instead of cookie cutter specs.

Armor Piercing, Bomb Squad & Pineapple Juggler are honestly worthless and need to be either redone or removed - the bonus to damage on AP sucks and you’ve almost always got an artillery, all the explosives are clearly visible so BS is junk unless you make them more transparent/invisible and any Fragger worth his salt primes his grenades making PJ useless.

Unshakable and Fail Safe need to be combined into one Augment because having them separate makes absolutely no sense - why would your mine/sticky bomb/artillery/grenade be any different to someone else? Yeah sure you know where they’re placed but that’s not a good enough reason.

Implementing a cool down or power bar w/diminishing returns for shock paddles on medics would greatly decrease frustration for the people who have just expended a full clip or more of ammo into someone to get them down just so they are revived over and over again - inb4 “kill the medic 1st” sometimes it ain’t that easy.

Adding a proper way to spectate instead of taking up a team members spot on the server.

Letting us disarm mines.

Adding the ability to zoom in/out with sniper rifles.

In-game reporting of hackers or just get some better anti-cheat because XIGN is about as useful as a one legged man in an ass kicking competition :stuck_out_tongue:

Maps, obviously we need more.

Different game modes, Extraction was great but how about some CTF or possibly king of the hill.

Spawn camping counters, multiple spawn points or inaccessible areas - 6 seconds of invincibility just doesn’t cut it.

Adding Akimbo pistols, Flame Throwers, Mortars & Rocket Launchers. (last 3 as special abilities only) we threw the Geneva Convention right out the window with Mines, Incendiary grenades and 50 Calibur rifles so why the heck not put em in o:)

Throw in the original Wolf:ET maps or an England based variant… SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! wouldn’t quite cover how a lot of players feel about this, just do it

My biggest issue at the moment is XIGNCODE and Nexon’s attitude towards anti-cheat whereby processes that have the capability of being used for a cheating purpose force close the game and get players flagged when they are being used for their non-cheating normal use cases, for example VOIP overlays and game specific key binds.

After that it’s the monitisation system, 3 weeks to grind unlock a merc is pay2win, £5+ per merc is pay2win, weapons and augments tied to randomly generated loadout cards is pay2win.

Is this a game being developed for the gamers, or as a cashcow, because if it’s the former then you need to start being fair to the players, if it’s the latter just let me know so I can stop beating a dead horse. I still have faith that this trainwreck can be turned around, but only if you do what you keep pertaining to do, which is not to make the same old mistakes again by actually making changes to what players say are the problems.

(vdll) #44

Wait, are voip overlays illegal? Like mumble crosshair etc?

IS there something wrong with servers-refresh in the browser?
I join servers with several ppl in the server-browser. but they are empty (lobby).
and i have this every day several times.
Does the refresh button realy work or not?

(umberInlet) #46

@Mustang Pay2Win, in my definition, is something that a player must pay to get, and that no free player can ever get, and that such a purchase would gove them an higher advantage than the rest, gameplay-wise. Using that definition, Dirty Bomb is not pay to win, but it is definitely “pay to not experience horrible grind”. The mercs are meant to attract different types pf playstyles, but each still have their pros and cons. They are meant to be balanced, in general.

Loadout cards are no exception. Ever played Warframe and tried to grind for that specific Prime part? It’s just like that, but this game does it better? Why? Because you don’t have to farm for the key required to get into that specific area to farm for that specific item, which you may not get in the first place. This was not considered as pay to win by the majority of the community as well (from my experiences on the game’s forum for about a year now). Not only you get Loadout cases for free from matches, they can only be purchased with in-game currency. Also, you can always trade up your cards up to bronze (because gold and silver are the exact same thing but with skins).

But, I do feel that prices should still be lowered, especially the price of mercs when paying with real cash.

 1. competitive (ranks, stats, clans, community servers, spectator mode)
 2. monetization
 3. Performance
 4. Breaks between real matches (shorter mid-game, shorter waiting for match etc., shorter pre-round time etc.)

(Amerika) #48
 1. Bug fixes. As others have said this game has a lot of customer facing bugs that impact the game quite a bit. Everything from what happens to clients and/or the server when airstrikes happen (crazy server/client fps drop) to not being able to fire your next shot (or shooting out a med pack instead of a bullet). Also, the crouch bug where if you crouch at the right moment during reload it cancels the reload (super annoying when playing cat and mouse behind a car on terminal). These are all customer facing, happen often and really downgrades the game experience for all.

 2. Fix the loadout card screen. Allow favorites to be set so that people don’t lose their cards and allow proper sorting. This is a customer facing system and should have been done first and for some reason was just of thrown up and left in a “good enough” state. It looks awful, is confusing and doesn’t function very well. Also, allow us to hide the default cards or just not make them cards you see.

 3. Let us open cases from the server screen. Servers clear out because quite a few people get a case and some of them want to immediately open them. And while you are at it don’t make us have to go through multiple clicks to repeat actions like opening cases or trading up cards. If I open a case I should be able to see my card, click the OK button and go back to my cases rather than to the loadout screen.

 4. Proper competitive settings. That has been discussed quite a bit here and I’m sure you are aware of them.

 5. More maps. They don’t have to be maps that have non-stop trick jumping. Just basic good flowing maps that might have a couple of trick jumps in them. The reason behind designing in this manner is because the community can and will find trick jumps you won’t design that are useful. And you don’t want maps that are nothing but giant crossfires across the whole thing with a ton of verticality so you get shot from every angle (see Dome). Your original maps are pretty damn good outside of the spawn issues on a couple of them. Make more and let the community figure out good jumps or add in some with later updates that don’t destroy map flow or fixes key issues.

 6. Fix the spawn issues. There should be multiple routes out and spawn protection so that teams don’t get waylaid and then lose people due to quits causing it to become even worse. And for gods sake do something different with Terminal where you can cut off the underground section with gas making it a nightmare for teams to overcome.

 7. Proper demo support. I can record but nothing plays. Also, along with this, make sure the anti-lag is being used when you’re watching the demo. And add it to spectator mode too so things don’t look so wonky.

 8. Disconnect the loadout cards from any real money currency and use only game currency for it (add a second currency). Allow people to grind for these cards but not take the fun out of the game because you have to choose between saving for the next merc or buy cases. Introduce cosmetics for purchase to make up for the lost revenue. It also removes the “pay2win” people think about when they see weapons/augments tied to money in any way. Lets us grind for cards and complete sets, show them off (think hearthstone) and not have to worry that it’s going to affect whether or not we can buy a new merc with credits.

 9. Allow me to level up Mercs like in the past. Don’t give me any advantages but show how experienced I am with the individual mercs when I play. You can also give bonuses like credits or cases when they level up. This gives us all more of an end game to go for.

 10. Introduce weapon perks that let us change how weapons work. Pretty much every other modern FPS has this and it’s expected.

 11. Anti-cheat. You already know about this but this definitely needs to be improved. Publishing posts about big ban waves also helps inspire confidence. Let the community know you’re taking an active role in doing the best you can to keep cheaters from cheating.

 12. Add incentive for people to prefer matchmaking over public servers. Increase credit gain in MM games or include an XP gain buff for competing in at least one MM games a day…basically anything to encourage people to play MM. Include daily missions for MM only but keep the current ones though that can be completed anywhere. You want to add incentive and not take away from what we currently have.

Concerned at what you mean by weapon perks. Could you explain further? Like changing sight, grip or underbarrel?

#s 1 - 6 I can wholeheartedly agree with.

7 is meh for me.

Number 8, I am not a fan of multicurrency “features”… But that is just me.

@Amerika #8 But, you can only buy loadout cards with in-game currency currently…???

Do you mean specific cards, or card cases?

I believe he meant for players to earn two different types of currency while playing a match ~ One for mercs and one for loadouts. Currently the only way to buy credits is through the merc starter pack, which you can only buy once.

What he means by disconnect from real value ~ A 50k merc costs 10$ which means 5,000 credits = 1$. This also means that 1 case = 20 cents. While you currently cannot buy credits to spend on said 20 cent case, it still can be equated to a real money value.

If you continue down that route, you can also determine the ‘real money value’ of specific loadout rarities, although I believe nobody has done that math yet. It would require some variables such as demand to be involved, as I am sure some cards are definitely worth more than others of the same rarity.

Exactly. I believe it’s a coming feature already.

@Yazeth I’d like to see cosmetics go on sale but loadout cards be something people go for (grind for) and make it easier and disconnecting it from any real world currency system. Yes, you can get credits now through playing but many F2P games have two or three types of currency and usually one of them is game only. It means people drop rates for cases could be increased (but you could still buy them with real world money), drop rates for cards increased and tradeup cards reduced. This removes any “pay 2 win” from the game and gives people something to grind for. And even adding incentive to showing off your cards would be nice. Like, give a nice title or some non-gameplay perk for getting a full set of cards for Mercs.

I clarified it a bit more to make it more clear.

Like many of my ET comrades, I adore the pacing and feel of this game, but as is often the case with Splash Damage they do so much right and yet there are always a few lingering errors of design that stick around for way too long, for reasons that I just don’t understand. There is too much to mention in one post so I will try my best to be brief:

 1. TERMINAL - the tunnel generator that defenders can destroy regularly results in a full hold and quickly deteriorates into spawn camping, it completely breaks the map and needlessly distracts the attackers from the main objective. Furthermore most players don’t understand that capturing the forward spawn after planting the bomb is a bad idea since the defenders can then hold the wall for sometimes two minutes after the bomb goes off, which makes very little sense whatsoever and only penalizes the attackers for capturing a secondary objective.

 2. LOADOUT CARDS - Many of us are feeling increasingly cheated by math when it comes to the random system currently in place. We should be able to choose the weapons we want separately from the card system, and there could be perhaps a Platinum tier introduced so that those of us with useless gold cards could trade up perhaps 3 of them for a card of our preference.

 3. MERC PRICING/ROTATION - I have tried to introduce several friends to the game recently, and whilst they are already hooked on the gameplay, they are very much put off by the high purchase price of the mercs and the level of credits required for them. I can make 300+ credits in a long game of stopwatch but to a new player who makes half of this it will make the grind appear disproportionately worse. This does not bode well for open beta, and more needs to be done to help new players earn credits faster, or you need to seriously reconsider your business model.

Sawbones should have been paired with Skyhammer as a standard merc but since I don’t see this changing, the new free rotation of 3 mercs should always try to include a medic and an engineer for the sake of variety and utility.

 1. MOD TOOLS/COMMUNITY MAPS/CUSTOM SERVERS - This game will I believe live or die by its community and custom maps are a big part of this. Map making takes time and testing and in a game like Dirty Bomb a fair amount of balancing. Therefore mod tools need to be released pronto, so that we, the community at large, can go about introducing new maps and playing them to death on custom servers (which I also assume are forthcoming). Some of the best maps in ET were vanilla maps that had been modified by the community, and perhaps a charitable soul will begin the process of bringing back some of our favourite maps from that era.

 2. SOUND - a personal bugbear of mine is the sound design. I do not expect nor want the guns to sound like weapons of mass destruction, but neither should they sound like they haven’t been mixed with the rest of the audio properly; it is honestly quite amateur stuff. Callouts from mercs should be louder, guns and explosions need more priority in the mix and for a competitive game I should be able to close my eyes and have a clear picture in my head of what is happening. At the very least please give us proper sound settings so that we can tinker with it to our personal preference, and turn down the ambient sound for example.

Many people have reported an annoying increase in reverb since the last patch that sounds like you just used the basic echo filter in pro tools. It makes things sound muddier when we should have clarity. Please fix it.

Dear @CHEFS take a look here as well, I think a revamp for augments would be a cool idea. (not all of them, but some are either non functional or pretty ineffective).

(hotpinkReel) #56

I think balance is really fun, for the most part. So a lot of what I would like aren’t gameplay changes. Mostly more functionality from cards and UI. These are more long term features, and the way I’m describing them is in a sort of polished state, so I know it’d take some time.

 1. Take a note out of Warframe’s book. There is a screen from which you can view all the modules in the game, with their status effects, even if you don’t have them; do the same thing with cards. Change the UI so it looks like one of those card collectors books with slots for each card, have tabs for each class, and then sort that by rank. It’d be functional and visually appealing.
 2. Show the damage values and drop off on weapons. I’d like to point to Planetside 2’s weapon stats screen which shows damage values and drop off, CoF at various movement speeds, short and long reloads, fire modes, and allows for comparisons. Bars are just a really ineffective system for communicating information.
 3. Provide some method of selecting which traits your card gets (e.g., there would be an “modify” option that would allow you to select a card, then select which trait you want to alter (either ability, gun, or melee). You would then melt 3 cards which have the desired trait into the card being modified, for something like 1.5 times the cost of trading up the card being modified). It doesn’t have to be my way, but some way would be really nice.
 4. As the community grows larger, perhaps you could look into steam integration for a card trading system. Or you could implement something like Warframe’s ingame trading system, which has IGC fees dependent on the items being traded.
 5. Allow people to unpack cases from the server screen.
 6. 12v12 servers. It’d be so much fun.

I don’t really have many other complaints. I haven’t been playing enough to notice too many bugs, and I haven’t had to grind for mercs since I got the starter pack. As a result, I don’t really think I ought to speak to those two. For gameplay complaints, all I want right now is Stoker (or at least somebody who can lay down an ammo regen station), and maybe take a look at Nader again. I’m a Nader player, and I think she may have been over buffed. All she really needed was some health, in my mind. The fact that people could disable martyrdom was also fair.

You’ve done a pretty good job about balance. Honestly, this game is pretty kick ass, and I think that it could very well become the next big thang with a bit of marketing and word of mouth. Like I said, most of my complaints are just about UI functionality. Being devs and gamers, you lot should know well just how solid a game has to be before you can say that you don’t have many really important complaints about game play.

(capriciousParsely) #57

I have some problems with the menus being extremely slow and laggy. I play with a i7 3770k, gtx 970 and 16gb RAM but the menus are soooooo slow and unrensponsive. I’m not sure what is causing the problem however but they feel like a slideshow.

(ZGToRRent) #58

No. 7v7 is too much and you want more people in small area? Play Shipment in COD4 if You want complete brainless chaos.

lol nader got buffed? nader got nerfed beyond viability
hange the UI so it looks like one of those card collectors books with slots for each card, have tabs for each class, and then sort that by rank. It’d be functional and visually appealing.
I really like this idea, having a “collectors book” makes people feels cards they don’t want are not a complete waste, adds more incentive to play as people love collecting stuff all-round good suggestion.

One I would like to add to help with the RNG card issue would be “trade-sideways”. Basically like trade-up; combine three cards of one value and in exchange you can choose the card you get but off the same value of the cards you put in.
So the trade up mechanic would be, combine three of the same rank to either get a specific card of that rank or a random one of the rank above.
