Question is self-explnitory, what commands can i use? I’ve heard of all the picmic (something like that) and stuff but i dont understand what it all dose :huh:

Running the game at 640*480 is the ultimate FPS tweak for weak gfx cards.

picmic reduces the texture quality, Et will look blurry but it might give you a few more FPS out of your system. beside that:http://velocity.lunarpages.com/tweaks.html#graphics

Ifuritas guide should be more than enough to get you started. Probably best to create your own ET server (not dedicated obviously) and try pulling up the console (with the tilde ~ key) and changing some settings - I don’t remember if you need to prefix commands with set or seta in ET although I dimly recall it not mattering.
Be sure to make a backup of your config (etconfig.cfg in the /profiles directory of etmain for sure) - each mod you use (shrub and ET-Pro) has it’s own profile subdirectory and has been previously stated by others more knowledgable than I that it makes good sense to keep your settings and bindings in the autoexec.cfg in your /etmain folder.
Some video settings need you to perform a /vid_restart from the console to take effect. Its also an idea to leech a copy of a pub PB server config as you can test your cvar tweaks against whats generally allowed ‘online’
BTW - ppl will generally be more helpful if you at least demonstrate that you’ve already searched and have run into problems - if your just being a lazy ass then domi has every right to abuse your sorry ass.

I like ET to look pretty myself, framerate (and visibility) be damned.
I think I do reasonably well for refusing to tweak the hell out of my configuration, though…
A while back, I did made a short project of making ET as ugly as possible for framerate gains, which of course mandates an ugly-ass screenshot.
Anyway, enough silliness from me.

I just play it at 1280x1024 with all movement sway removed and atmospheric effects and coronas off, with the brightness a little higher. And I turn off particles. Mostly just to help kill the enemy easier, not really to increase fps. Although particles off helps that.
This reminds me of an alias I made in Quake2 to make the power armor 1000 times louder and standing in base in a ctf game hitting the button over and over while teammates would go “WTF is making that sound?”
Or the time in quake using message binds ito make the players think I was a bot, and an announcement to type /kill Killbot 2.0 in the console to remove the bot from the server. (Quake ignores anything after /kill and just suicides you.) Some guy did it twice…on a server that kicked for suiciding…

Pity it’s for RtCW and some of the settings don’t work, and the links to the configs in the examples give 404 errors =/

I remember getting some priceless information about cvars from a quake3 site( ‘upset chaps’ i think) when I was playing RtCW on restricted hardware - the games share many similar cvars but more importantly there were good explinations of cvars, their use, even the concept of how cvars operate - very useful when tweaking a config suited for my hardware. I don’t think I was doing crazynutter a disservice by sending him there tbh.
