Tram Siege map for ET?

(TrashCan Man) #1

I’ve heard rumors that someone is finally converting the RTCW Tram Siege map to Enemy Territory. Has anyone else heard this?

(Oxygen - o2) #2

no, whoever has tho should be shot!

(No1_sonuk) #3

Indeed, Tram would be terrible on standard ET.

(thelastname) #4

You think so? I belive this map would be much better for ET.

(Sick Boy) #5

Hurray another tram thread!

Tram suits ET better than RTCW if you ask me. Throw in an axis door, make some constructibles here and there and you have yourself a classic ET map. With reduced sniper and panzer power, which kinda ruined the map in RTCW imho.

(senator) #6

Indeed, I can already see it, the only way up the hill under constant Lv3 FldOps arty barrage and a Lv1 PF ready to blast everybody inside the tram … fun :suspicious:

(Loffy) #7

Hey, I m playing Doom3 atm. I saw something there: Tele-porters! Just let the allies tele-port up! Fun!
(joke)

Hehe touché

But there is more than one way up the mountain (2 or 3 counting the tram, 4 counting tramsurfing  )
And the reduced panzer splash radius makes it harder to kill someone from long distance, you can easily dodge panzers in a large map like tram.

Besides, double arties and fastfire panzer can ruin any map.

Hmm. I’ve managed jumping over them a few times.

Constructible Tram?

Would be funny if an engy gets to a single wooden box and builds the tram, pylons and wires.

(SCDS_reyalP) #11

Dont forget landmines!!!

(senator) #12

Dont forget landmines!!!
And some MG-42s on the hilltop and a few mortar guys mixed in aswell

Sounds like a new Marko map

(xpnsve) #13

Howbout a strategic nuke?

(_NeT_WalBanger) #14

Tram would be a TOP!!! map to have again it Rocked… and can Rock again…

All what you are saying is a bit, emmm, not thought through.

Alot of you say How can they get up the hill with lvl 3 Artilary and panzas and… blah blah blah…
Well how could you possible build the Bridge on Fuel dumpwith Level 3 Fildops/panzas/ etc… same way

Besides… wouldnt it make a Great Stopwatch map… or maybee even Tourny match??

I REALLY!!! want to see this map…

No harm in trying!

Ohh P.S When tram 1st came out everyone that didnt know anything was saying same things “Its impossible to get up the hill, all the panzas waiting to shoot at the tram…” how wrong they were!!!

(Fenris) #15

Yes, finally, all we now lack is Market Garden, Castle and Depot and we’re all set to launch a “RtCW-nostalgia” ET server…

(evilsock) #16

Hmm, even in SW mode and no XP the rof and weapon systems of ET aren’t well matched for most RtCW maps. You’d have to think about disabling mines and rifle nades also for extra balance.

This would have been a great ‘next thing’ for shrub to do as it would make the original RtCW experience possible under ET - it’s probably also not something you’d expect to see in a competition mod such as et-pro.

Just a shame shrub buckled under the weight of such negative criticism and halted development.

(Fenris) #17

Limiting mines at least is easily done in etpro, and I’d guess most servers would be running etpro or shrub instead of pure vanilla et nowadays ?
(Just my own opinion without checking for any facts :))
Rifle nades are fun, just as with panzers, flamers and other heavy weapons, and a dedicated team can beat most obstacles, as proven again and over on the only public tram-only server in Europe I’ve found remaining. Personally I prefer the additional “special” weapons in shrub where the medic is allowed to poison his enemies.

(Oxygen - o2) #18

why would u say that?

BTW i agree it would be too easy for axis, they would have to redisign the entire map so then it wouldnt be tram no more

(senator) #19

why would u say that?
Because so far I’ve found all Marko designed maps that I’ve played to be highly defence-favored and almost unbeatable for the attacking team, at least as long as both teams are similar skillwise and the defenders know the map. Most of his maps had flaws like chokepoints were you had to break through that the enemy could simply spam with Arty etc. or they were so huge with so many defensive positions and objectives the attacker has to reach that it was almost impossible in 30 minutes.

(Sick Boy) #20

I remember tram to be very possible for allies. At least on pubs, it was never really a competition map

The map is too wide to have real chokepoints you could spam with arty. So mines don’t seem usefull either , especially since you can scan them from miles away. Rifle grenade: useless. Sniper: less of a threat than in RTCW. Panzer: though faster, hard to hit someone from large distance. It’s good vs the tram though.

And I wouldn’t compare an excellent map like tram to a Marko-map (though no disrespect to marko or those who like his maps, but I think they suck  )
