Can you please stop with the cod engine rant already? Gawd, i’ve been reading this thread to see what new projects might come etc. but all i see is someone persistantly trying to get people to go on cod engine.
The prob is, it costs. Even if it costs 1 cent, a lot of people can’t be bothered to go through that buying process. It’s much simpler to base it on et engine because it’s closer to the end result. Porting the et mod onto cod engine might be more of a pita.
You sound like a salesman who doesn’t seem to realize we said no.

P.S. What is called TJ in cod4 looks like a joke to me. There is no FUN in it.

P.P.S. The reason you state etqw failed says most for me.

and who the hell are u that i should consider ur word? back in time, someone person said something like ‘no one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer’.

so the people who play cod4 are simply stupid? how they can play something like? it looks like it’s fun for somebody. therefore… not everyone will move to xreal anyway.

if people can’t afford something that they are going to use for next few months/years, they i don’t care about these kind of people. the buying process is very simple. don’t make everything too easy.

i’m a player, just like u, but u re the one who is telling to stop including cod into this thread. why nearly all of u are so sceptical, while it’s just using an engine? be open more minded.

let’s say you can use google maps in any gps navigation like tomtom or navigon. if nearly all the aspect of calculating route etc is almost the same, then why there would be a problem to use any of them?

just make the mod right, then it feels right. wolfenstein and qw are missing something, and everyone who doesnt play these games know what is it… don’t u?

at this moment even using xreal is a failure already, as ‘it has been said’ that most et players are still using 5+ years old machines… then how can we move forward? we can’t! 20 mb map is way too big (while these people are watching 700+ kb screenshots, downloading 720p movies and uploading uncompressed photos to facebook). there are so many limits right now… but people like u will never understand that.

Originality is what we are looking for. I think you ruined your reputation with stealing so who would want to work or let alone listen to ideas from a person like that? Odds are that they themselves would get caught up in your mess too.

Please go to the forum that goes under the category you want if you can’t let go of your CoD ideas.

even ‘converting’ require knowledge modding and developing, it’s just not making something from scratch. just because i prefer to put something in et doesn’t mean i have no idea how to make things from beginning. i just don’t want to and have enough time. converting cod maps is not renaming .iwd file to .pk3, as u might think (it’s kind of metaphor, in case u want to take my word literally).

maybe noone would like to work with me, but it doesn’t mean noone would like my ideas. idea can come from anybody. even dictators/kings had good ideas.

What you think mappers spend all the time working? Most of us just work + - 8 hours a week when we have free time. If you have time to “convert” maps i believe you have time to make something on your own with that time. Nobody said that maps can be done in weeks nor months. Yes it’s possible but big things take time.

For example Capuzzo took nearly 2 years to finish. Yes it’s not the finest work but at least it features some new things. And in that time we worked on many other projects and had personal lives to worry so we did not have time either but we managed to find it.

And it feels damn good to know that I and Sage have created something with our own hands and people actually like it. So all that time was spent worthily.

So in conclusion, nobody has the time to be honest but we try to find time.

And saying that you don’t want to make your own work is just silly…

IndyJones, you made your point and shared your opinion

People who share your idea might go on and create what you have in mind or work together with you and/or others to achieve it

But I kindly ask to stop repeating the same thing over and over again to prove your right. We understand what you’re saying and most of the people just say simply ‘no’ to it.
We’re not afraid of change, but we like to create things that we like and if that’s not ET based on a CoD engine, then maybe you have to accept that persons opinion, instead of desperately trying to convince him/her from your point.
As much as people respect your feeling/thoughts/ideas, return the favor and respect the opinion of others.

I think it’s time now for other ideas and/or suggestions

Reading this topic feels very frustrating, like someone’s shouting and screaming to draw attention
Your idea is given, maybe you have other ideas you like to share ? - But pretty please with sugar on top, move on to another suggestion

After months of wait for source to be released , you just want to convince
the comunity to swich to other engine…

Is like wait months to buy a house and once you can buy it you go buy other
that was avaliable since you started to wait.

Anyway you can improve a lot a game engine, look for example
overdose project and what they have done.

I think , and im sure others do like me, that now the first thing to do
is get a new improved et with just the same gameplay as it is right now,
and ofc free free free free free free free :stuck_out_tongue: , and this is the most important point IMHO.

Well, i just went here specting awesome news and all i found is this disscusion…

Most of people dont and wont agree with you Indy so is time to give up though xD

a statement like above can only come from someone who never had those “brilliants”, from someone who really doesnt have any clue about the process on “materialzing ideas”.

now you wont understand this, but this is how it works in many of you ordinary brains. you NEVER EVER HAD A GOOD IDEA IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE so now you try to find excuses and workarounds for your lack (like no time etc, or the funny statement like “dictators/kings”.)

this is also perfect description for the many other fake people here in this forum, who think they got “skillez”. its funny though :slight_smile:

Out of curiosity are there any coders planning anything?

I’ve seen the Xreal - ET project which looks pretty amazing, but is there anything else out there?
I’m really hoping a few people can group up and take this on since that would be pretty awesome.

iowolfet has a project set up. not sure what their plans are, but would assume that it will start with porting ioquake3 engine fixes where applicable.

since pb isn’t included in the sources, i’m curious to see if there are any real anti-cheat projects planned since i doubt there will be any widespread acceptance without one.

I agree with you there but I do think there are some things that need to be tweaked for gameplay. Let’s take the soldier class, right now in ET it acts as a support class for others: a.k.a that class does the dirty work of focusing mainly on players. Alternatively it has a Panzerfaust/Bazooka for disabling vehicles but it’s is still used for killing players. So I think at least the soldier class needs major changes. It should focus more on vehicles and handling special guns. That way maybe it would get more use on the ET field.

Xreal needs less resources than COD:WAW, COD4.
Doom 3 needs less resources than COD:WAW,COD4.
But of course, it all depens on how the developer create the project. it may need even more requirements than crysis.

that was irony ffsturm. i was told to stop doing any changes into gameplay, like iron sights etc, while someone who is against that suggest changing soldier class!

i play cod4/waw/mw2 on medium settings, and it works just fair, and my laptop is slower than what u pasted here… it’s not minimum settings, is it?

people are already playing on r_picmip 3 with nearly full brightness and hundred of tweaks. what’s the point of changing engine then? not everyone will move to xreal anyway, so the people who wants to experience something new, better would also switch to cod engine… but like i said so many times, the mod has to be done properly.
