I find myself asking the same question as well over time and time. 
Thoughts about a free version of W:ET
it’s like with music - let’s say u like jazz and techno. do u have to give up on one just to enjoy the second?
-It actually did lose the ET spirit… There was nothing ET in TC:E
-WaW has a lot of problems with its engine
-We already have class setups in ET we do not need Call of Duty style.

indeed, waw has some problems with engine, cod 4 is closer to being ‘perfect’.
go back to school. read my posts again. in this particular thread i’m talking about making et gameplay into cod engine, not cod features into et like before. i don’t want to believe that you are that stupid not to understand the diffrence… or maybe u just don’t want to? there are many people like u who are against any changes. maybe u should go back to double jump server.

This was the only argument I had. You said that there was spirit in TC:E. When there isn’t you keep changing the argument to something else. :rolleyes:
i have nothing to say to this topic. its just some random bitching and talk about stuff which has to do with taste; thats always arguable. but when there is someone faking some stuff (like YOU writing YOUR NAME on a port map from another game) then you can count me in. what surely is not everything i reply to and by means is no general statement like some of you stupids would think now. categorizing.

Also I can understand where indyjones is coming from, but problem is I don’t think many or anybody here knows how to work with cod4 engine - tools.
Also ET is not just about objective gameplay. I like TJ alot hehe don’t think that would be so easy to implement into cod4 engine? or would it.
Anyway imo lot’s of the ‘bugs’ made ET what ET is today. By taking a different engine i don’t think you could create the same feeling.
And ironsights are so overrated
(let’s rant on ironsights again) All they do is make you have to press 1 button more before killing somebody and what happens with cg_drawgun 0 
Iron-Sights have been added to et a LOOOOOONG time ago, and they suck honestly (Check some mods). You don’t need to change the renderer for that.
Let the gameplay to be the same or it will fail like wolfenstein 2009 (—> Cool multiplayer with iron-sights).
It’s Etwolf, remember. If you want to add stuff to it, do it, but don’t change the gameplay.
Only change the graphics, sounds, interface… or add physics if you want.
Wolfenstein enemy territory is wolfenstein enemy territory.
Other First person shooters are OTHER FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS.
Cod engine (or Id tech 3 oversaturated) it’s not an option. It won’t work…
cg_drawgun can be not allowed by punkbuster, so if u use it on server that do not agree with that, u will be kicked.
a lot of games has iron sights, but not in many it works like in call of duty games. in falckonet and east front it was coded bad (ie when i had higher fov than 90, i had to aim diffrently).
call of duty tools are very very similar, in fact some things are even easier to do in codradiant, for example blending - you are actually paiting second texture onto another one in real time. no more chessboard styled textures… cod community is HUGE, there are tons of tutorials for everything, and there are hundred of people that are willing to help for sure. et community is nearly dead, when it comes to new stuff.
cod is heavily modified q3 engine after all. making the tj ‘bug’ is just adjusting certain physics values.
wolfenstein failed for many many reasons, but that was OBVIOUS since the beginning.
wolfenstein et is a style, not engine. style can be the same, just the engine diffrent (vide xreal project).
look between cod1 and cod mw2 - the gameplay has changed a lot, but it’s still a great game. they have changed a lot, and that went good. why are u afraid on adding new stuff? it will add more atmosphere to the game.
there are many mods for cod 4, take a look at galactic warfare - star wars game in cod engine. such a great performance!
there is a big cod trickjump community as well. of course it feels diffrent, but u just have to get used to it, like with anything else that is NEW! look at colin mcrae 2, then dirt 2… look at gta vice city and then ballad of gay tony. all of them are diffrent games, and all of them are good games.

if u want to describe et in few words, then i’d say it’s a game where u have 5 diffrent classes, that has to support each other and are doing objective, there are two teams - attacking and defending. wolf is just a little bit like that, u can see what is wrong with it…
but look at cod 2 and cod 4 - a lot of stuff has been added, changed or improved - and it only went better. of course there are players who wants to stick with old stuff over and over again (hence oasis/braundorf/adlernest campaign), and it’s the same with cod 2 - it still has quite big amount of ppl who play it…
the solution is - do it well, then it’s fine. everybody knew wolfenstein is going to be disappointment, just like quake wars. too many changes, especially the theme and gameplay. i haven’t spend more than one hour on it.
Well if CoD is such a big success then go mod & map for that, why are you bothering with a game like ET?. If we don’t want to import things from CoD then we don’t, get it? We do not need maps from CoD, nor skins, textures, models and sounds that you have “provided” us with. And god all might, not even the gameplay. ET is fun by itself without the help of that game.
If we make it CoD like then players who come to check it out they will think it’s a clone of CoD. It has the look and feel of it (Because in your world I assume all the maps would be from CoD) but it’s not quite right so they just go back to the game that was meant for it.
We can develope our own unique work, that will make the game more fun and that is what developing is all about!
Also to end my post, Quake Wars was not a disappointment. I for example still enjoy playing it and it’s a big load of fun and so does the rest of that community.
Edit: And FFSturm showed it all why ET should not be like CoD.

use cod engine, make everything et style. i think everyone has seen what kind of person u re, and what kind of person i am. what i do is strictly for fun, just cause i like it.
et is based on q3, but they are totally diffrent games… so are u trying to say that it’s not POSSIBLE to make et on cod engine?
