this game is too complex for some people

(Brinkman) #1

they treat it like quake 3 deathmatch… and it may have hte same speed it really is nothing like it…

my teammates ALWAYS shoot me hewn im disguised and no one knows what to do… yes the game can be complicated at first but everyone should read the manual before playing…

playing on a crappy team is VERY frustrating… i usually leave rather than put up with a 30 minute idiot fest

for example on the battery map im on the allies side… taking hte left root around to the back… i have a disguise on and my team kill me the second im in view… then i come back and watch them all try to open the axis door… ugh

but i cant be too hard on this… when i do get a server where people know what they are doing , it makes the online experience 1000 times better… (even fun  )

all n all I’ve noticed people just spawning, running up… dieing, spawning running up dieing. As fi they were bots… I hope in the future more people learn what classes are responsible for what… and what the objectives are…

oh yeah READ THE MANUAL

Yeah, nobody seems to do that. And during game they wonder why they have no fun, because they always getting killed.

OMG, i had the same thing happen to me on Rail Gun!!!

These stupid noobs could NOT do anything at all!

It was like 15 vs 15, me leading the pack by about 150 xp from the nearest challenger, and the map starts…

Im a field ops, therefor i expect people who need ammoe, i.e. medics, would stay in the BACK. No such luck, everyone rushes towards the door in the cabin like it was a race! I mean, you wanna be qwik on your feet, but with 5 people crammed in the doorway, with the medics leading the pack, you know your in trouble

So everyone, instead of moving the tram forward, runs in random directions right off the start. So i kill a few allies trying to rush the spawn and jump in the car. Cruising along, i reach the gate. Jump out, surrounded by like 8 allies, i die. Respawn, with the rest of my team, same deal with that damned door (SD, maybe you could make the door the size of the wall so we dont have to deal with n00b cramming :P) :banghead: :banghead:

Anyways, i eventually get out, back of the pack, and start the short run to the tram. We are now being pressed a little from challenging allies, but we (correction, I) cut right through them, and continue. Got the tram moving, jump out at gate, and its empty. Run over to switch, surrouned by mines, die, BUT I GOT THE GATE OPEN. ALL SOMEONE HAS TO DO IS JUMP IN THE TRAM. I wait and wait and wait, wondering where in the hell all my team members went. Turns out about 4 allies got to where the tram originates, and our team felt as though if the allies got in our cabin or something, they would lose the game. So, the situation… 14 axis versus 4 half dead allies. Tram finally gets pushed back again. Now im pissed. I run into the tram, crouch, and start picking off allies right and left. When im almost to the gate, throw an airstrike, and clear out gate area. Jump to switch, raise it, continue. Jump back in tram, pick off a few more people, and i have 2 hp left. Figure i can get to the depot, and at least one guy is behind me. No such luck in either category. Im panzered. Please, someone, please just jump in the tram, we are sooo close to getting the ammo, please. Nope, some axis jumps in the tram and brings it ALL the way back again. I have no idea where my team went, nor do i really care anymore.

Well, after the timelimit was up, i was so disgusted i left, even though i was a colonel in the second round

God, if you dont know how to play a game, learn. People think they can just jump into a game and start winning every round. ET is a bit different from UT or Q3DM :banghead: :bash: :banghead:

Anyways, that vented my anger, thx guys :stuck_out_tongue:

hahah yep BlackDeath

and railgun is a HORRIBLE map to be stuck with n00bs on… cuz the respawn is 10 seconds longer than the allies…

and what has always happened is that the axis got slammed back to their spawn for the rest of the game…

when it gets like that i leave… man i can only do so much

(BlackDeath) #5

lol, yeah, i tried my Rambo stuff, then when the map was over, said “screw it”, and left 4 another server. (I guess i could have switched teams, but at the time the allies had 3 more guys, ehh :P)

You shouldn’t get frustrated at people. Most players are probably coming from RtCW, and as we all know a LOT has changed. They most likely jump in thinking a new class, a few weapon changes nothing big. Not everyone has played the Test Map, and even less have read the manual. Just give it time and people will learn. Most people are probably still learning the new class abilities let alone the maps.

Besides I enjoy knowing things that they still haven’t found out. Last night I kept going prone on top of the allied airstrikes to block them. One of them started screaming about how the pilot must be blind or something

first time i played this game was two nights ago…

before that i only played original RtCW… i adjusted to the classes easily… if you come from RtCW you should have the upper hand than the people who haven’t… but the way people rae playing it doesn’t seem like it

and doesn’t the “BLOW UP BRIDGE” do anything for them? wouldn’t they think “hmm do i have to do something different?”

after the first ngiht i made sure i knew what i was doing by looking up the new classes in the manual and learning how to do everything…

the next morning i knew what had to be done on each map

instead of just pressing forward and shooting the enemy…

Well like I said not everyone reads the manual. You could see the same thing during the test map. Most people had no idea what the objective was for a day or so, and this was when their was only one map being played over and over. After a week or so people stopped shooting the COps, they knew about the Engineer/COps trick, and everything else. I agree it’s not the funnest thing playing with newbs, but there are some servers out their that have at least decent people like the TimeLord server. I’ve played on this server since the test map and most of the people know what they are doing. I would recommend you find a server like this and stick with it until those who can’t read the manual learn.

I bite my tongue with newbs. It took me two days to figure out exactly how mp_base was laid out. These maps are much bigger :banghead:

Guys… I really think ya need to calm down. It’s gonna take a while b4 everyone has got a handle on new elements that wernt in RTCW (mines covert ops - mobile mg42’s etc ) –

I was on a server last night but even tho the gameplay wasnt at a high standard it was fun watching people experimenting. The teamplay will come eventually.

(BoltyBoy) #11

Lol jeez I’d hate to see some of these guys driving behind a learner - “Oi speed up will ya, Why’s he going so slow - OI will ya pull out at the junction, there aren’t any cars coming for at least 10 meters either side - Oh for crying out loud he’s stalled again … GRRRRR!!!”

I’ve played this game from that test release and still barely got around to trying out the mobile MG42 to any great degree, so imagine what it’s like for all the other players either coming in fresh from RTCW or from never having played an FPS before - so much to learn, let alone the vast maps!

It was quite amusing. The first few nights have seen the objectives often getting blasted or stolen really early as 95% of the people had no idea where to go and the 5% that did could pretty much single handedly win the game! This’ll change soon enough and I can see some real good battles coming.

It is a bit frustrating. Yesterday I had my first few rounds of ET, but before that I did the maps on my own server, alone. It only took an hour or less. And I don’t know about ppl learning… In the test I also ended too many times defending the fuel dump alone. On certain points I managed to rally some players around me and give them some instructions, and when that happended I could hold the line pretty well (as a level 3 medic).

My hope is set on finding a very good server, not on players learning. Afterall, in Rtcw there are also still newbies on the pubs.

I think Im going to bind a “follow me” button to help my clueless teammates out.

(senator) #13

ppl need to learn the maps and how to win the objective, I can remember the RtCW beach demo when some redneck allied grabbed the objectives and ran straight back to the beach, wondering why all the allies following him were constantly yelling ‘Negative’ and ‘Follow me’

But I agree that it’s frustrating as hell if you are the only one who knows what to do and are packed together with a bunch of neewbs, especially if the other team consists of 100% claners.

(BlackDeath) #14

I dont get pissed off when they listen to my instructions (Which i periodically write in RED and BOLD at the bottom of the screen), Its when they dont listen to me on something ive told them 3 times in a row. I mean, if i was new to a game, and someone told me what to do/what the objective was, i’d listen the first time, and then get it done. Its like these people think ET is a Deathmatch, where highest fragging side wins!

I mean literally, there was this one guy who kept running aroud killing his teammates equally as he was killing the enemy. He got kicked after being repetedly told that this isnt a DM.

Some people should just learn to listen and learn before they attempt to do EVERYTHING by themselves.

I dunno do “good” people really go to any one server? I’ve never actually noticed if the server I am on plays consistently better than any other. But on the learning front I have noticed a dramatic improvement in team play and general awareness over just a couple of days ago.

(Pippi) #16

In Rtcw, I had some servers where I could play somewhat clanlike. So no teamkills, complaints, etc.

I hope ET will also have some servers that have this feature. But I must say that some of the best servers dont show up in Pathfinder/ASE, so it can take quite a while before I found out about them.

(Stee) #17

Regardless of the fact it’s closely associated with RTCW, players should remember it’s a new game and not everyone has played RTCW before, I have and am adjusting to ET reasonably easily but many players have’nt ,the fact that it’s free will attract A LOT of new players which is a good thing, but with the game only being out for 4-5 days we should give newbs a chance.
I play as covert ops with the sten and I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been tk’d, but I don’t file a complaint I just accept it since it’s new, If In a month or two it still happens I may start filing but atm it’s far to early in the games life for that.

(Pippi) #18

True that Stee, but I also think it’s common courtesy if you atleast read the manual and find out the basics. Don’t bother other players with question after question and don’t bother them with teamkills or complaints.

(Brinkman) #19

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

(Ragnar_40k) #20

I told yesterday a guy to read the manual (he was asking how to throw airstrikes - after several other questions). His answer: “I downloaded this game, there is no manual.” :bash:
