Ok, some guy at this forum told me that they get redirected without even asked. The file responsible for this is again another of this main menu hack stuff (probably projects like ET:L should just avoid possibility of main menu hacking).

This is the pk3 i think is responsible => http://equalone.freeunix.net/index.php?index=2 (see section Addons with ui_ar_override.pk3). The client cvar ui_autoredirect seems to do the bypass.

This does not solve anything though, but guys who are redirected without asked at least should remove crap pk3’s like that. Maybe run cleanetmain utility => http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/CleanETMAIN_Utility;118371 or find the file yourself (must be somewhere in etmain).

P.S. could be that i am wrong though, i did never download such a file, but seems to be worth a shot!!

Hellreturn, you know that Punkbuster is outdated and has false banning system compered to other anti-cheat tools.

To proof that, just take an random .exe file, rename it to wallhack.exe, put it into your ET folder, start game and play in some PB servers, enjoy getting violation. ( Note that, you haven’t touched wallhack.exe at all and yo u aren’t running it)
Also add an cvar like wl_aimbot “1”, enjoy getting a violation. This shows how PB has false banning.

I have been banned 3 times by Punkbuster because of cvar violations and “using wallhack”.

Just hope to see TZAC in Jaymod and then we will see who really uses cheat.

This reminds me of that one cheat video which was created somewhere at etc or tc. The video was shown by a guy who had installed a wallhack himself and recorded himself playing, to then claim (by renaming his name) that it is another guy. I found that video hilariously stupid

I am not going to argue over Evenbalance and Tzac and totally go off topic… Even Tzac had false positives:

Evenbalance aka Punkbuster and PBBans always worked on our server without any issue. If any user provides proof that he is banned for false reasons I have seen bans always get lifted but cheaters never appeal because they know they got banned for what cheat they used

I have nothing to say more on Evenbalance (Punkbuster), PBBans and Tzac because I believe they all are doing good job against cheaters.

@hellreturn, There is no need to keep a fake server at the top of the list like this - especially one that straight up redirects without even asking, it’s cheap.

Slightly on topic, there seem to be a lot less fake servers then a year or so ago (I don’t really use the in-game browser - go figure why), I just had a very quick skip through and referenced stuff from online, eh, not too bad.

I am ashamed… I like this game ET, but I hate the community.

You guys keep saying that in various online forums and isn’t very helpful.
I for example use g_msg to spread the word to update to at least the 2.60 version.

What i mean is that you should promote 2.60 on your frontpage or for example in the message system of your mod.
There is no need to keep your ass forever on 2.55.

Then make all players go to 2.60b! Wish you luck! Many are talking about dropping older version but nothing is done. Autoupdate impossible, everything impossible so let’s just convince every new player who just downloaded 2.55 to switch to 2.60b! You think it can be effective? We have the ET 3.00 installed on our servers, it’s spamming every minute to switch to 2.60b with link but I didn’t see even 1 person to do that, can see the 2.55 people still connecting with 2.55.

And what will change when everyone will move to 2.60b? You think there won’t be any selfish admins which would still put fake servers/redirects? Seems very naive. If one person will put fakes, other will do to, no matter if it’s 2.55 or 2.60b.

I’m not reallly up to date but is there a joined community website/forum? When i used to play ET I was admin of the gamingneelix(later gamingGoNe) community, which housed multiple clans and players. I could ask Apologet(uberleader) to set it up again, maybe that can join the two(soon to be 3, 4) versions.
