@ProfPlump i used the dreiss yesterday on redeye and i still obliterated the enemy team top fragging both teams.
The Grandeur?
@Amerika You should post some more Red Eye content showing the Grandeur off
I actually just got done putting up some Fragger and Phoenix stuff (by request). I’ve been meaning to take the updated Grandeur out for a spin so I’ll do that soon.
Grandeur is in itself fine IMO (as is the Dreiss) problems are the ease of use / accuracy of the other weapons.
Problem is they are weapons that not only make you work hard for your kills (good aim, recoil ontrol, spread control, ammunition control) but at the same time are outclassed in every situation by another weapon. On extreme longrange sniperrifles will outperform them. as soon as you get close enough that the Grandeur could possible outperform a Sniper you get wipped by Assaultrifles and burstrifles. On the short end you are outclassed by shotguns and SMGs that can simply spray.
Especially the Burstrifles are bad now that they have been buffed. a burst deals slightly more damage than a Grandeur and as @Amerika pointed out you can’t shoot the Grandeur at max ROF most of the time, the burstrifles on the other hand pretty much reset the spread between shots. Making them easier to use faster and deadlier.
(btw. for people having trouble ADSing, the ironsights are all aligned to the very tip of the frontsight, ignore the backsight).

one interesting way to make dreiss&grandeur more meaningful is do give them big aimpunch when hitting opponents; sort of a ‘disruptor’ rifle.
Nah aimpunch is stupid. Just buff the firerate of the Dreiss and give comfier sights to the Grandeur.
—Edited out, I’m going to rethink a bit on my argument—
I’m not sure if giving them stronger aimpunch would completely solve the issue though, sure it might make the more viable and defined in a role but it would feel counter-intuitive with how SD has minimized aimpunch in general in the game. I’m not entirely against the idea, but I’m not sure if I am for it either.
Really, the problem with Grandeur and Dreiss overall I feel is that they’re simply not rewarding enough to use compared to the risk they have, because they are semi-autos. Semi-Autos have to be relatively more accurate than average and powerful to compete against automatic guns but there’s the risk of making them too strong.
Giving them some sort of sidepower (like Szakalot mentioned) might work too, but it has to be something that’s rewarding enough but at the same time not something that feels uncontrollable. I’ve got no idea on what to suggest though.
I love the grandeur and i dont have any probs with it. i mean rlly u just need to sit back and learn the grandeurs recoil and stuff. i can 1 shot - 2 shot auras lol
After spending about 20 hours playing around with the Grandeur, I’ve come to a conclusion based on how well I was doing with it, how I felt when playing with it, and what I believe something like the Grandeur should behave.
The gun itself is fine. It functions, it hurts, and it’s fair. The problem is, I can never answer my own question: do I really want to put in the effort to use the Grandeur to its maximum potential when I can use other guns that require a lot less effort and are generally safer picks? I’m leaning towards “no” as an answer to that question (as biased as the question might be), not because the Grandeur is in any way bad, but because it does require more skill to use than other weapons that can produce similar results. I’m thinking about this from an individual standpoint, mind you, not from a numbers standpoint. In terms of numbers, the Grandeur is pretty darn powerful. I just… don’t really see myself trading a deadly modern assault rifle or even the PDP for an old service rifle that kicks the enemy just as hard as it kicks you. That said, it’s also a darn fun weapon to use AND it’s very rewarding when used the right way and when you’re at the top of your game getting those headshots in, or even body shots in CQC where the gun is surprisingly very good. That’s why I can’t come up with an answer - it has its good, its meh, and its bad, and since power is relative, it has left me with uncertainty. Definitely one of the stranger weapons available.

very true, I feel the same way. It has its great moments, the problem being that those moments are offset by multiple scenarios where not a single hit gets in. While it can be powerful, at that level of play you are almost always better off with another weapon, so Grandeur just doesn’t hold up
I don’t understand saying that the Grand is not “bad”.
Consider… economy of effort is very important in a shooter, and is a natural means of sorting things out in these cases. If the economy of effort is very low, the weapon is actually “bad”. It wont get picked for this reason. It might be entertaining (I think this too), but it’s still bad because there isn’t a related factor that makes up for the poor efficiency.
grandeur is garbage weapon. Sorry to say that, but in compare with dreiss, grandeur is unpredictable where bullet will land.
if you control the RoF the first shot is very accurate actually. tap-firing allows you to take pretty accurate potshots, its just that it takes a lot of effort and doesn’t fare well in the open against spraying opponents.
My one gripe with it is that it’s the year 2020 and Redeye still hasn’t got decent optics for his signature gun.
Been playing Redeye quite a bit lately and the only thing I’ve really got a problem with is the horrid unpredictable hipfire. Have hit more intagib noscopes across the map with Vasilli than I have landed shots in general with the Grandeur while hipfiring. Really wish first shot accuracy when hipfiring would be buffed a bit so you are at least guaranteed a hit when you’re aiming right at someone’s head.
Words of wisdom from a Steam thread:
He is fun to play with but only against low ranked players. In overall, don’t expect positive k/d ratio with him. Smoke grenade cause no harm, and his primary weapon grandeur is one of the worst in the game. You will get more kills with knife.
@Amerika , can you post a Grandeur video from a level10+ server ? Or even from Competitive mode ? You are a good player, but almost all your videos have many level < 10 players!

its really easy to have a positive k/d with redeye, as you can pop people off from safety of a smoke. I often have a better k/d than with other classes, at the cost of total K
In general watching pubstoming videos has taught me the way to get a good K/D ratio is to play like a coward. Don’t defend objective, kill players where it’s easiest, not where it benefits team the most. Shoot some people in side tunnels, kill some on the bridge, make a long trip to shoot attackers from behind, retreat to an ammo crate away from objective. That’s why so many pubstomping videos with massive scores end up in a “LOSS”.
But I still want to see @Amerika shoot Grandeur at people on a level10+ server. In my experience there’s a huge difference between level10+ and unrestricted.
