(jfunk) #41
ok,
so i got brink like a week ago, worked perfectly outta the box, and last night it says “The current video card/driver combination does not support open gl 3.1 or newer” and i dont know how to fix it. The thing is that it never had this problem until now ive had it fr a week. i would check what my driver and what not are, but i dont know where how to get to them on windows 7 (new computer)

PLEASE HELP!!! I WANNA GET BACK TO MY GAME!!!
Really strange that you had this problem show up after not initially having it.

Post the results of a “dxdiag” so we can see what hardware and drivers you are running. Follow the instructions in the DXDIAG section of this post to do so:

Say what?! Catalyst 9.x with CCC 2011.x?? Sounds like your ATI driver/CCC installation is very mixed-up as it has some old components and some new components, which all adds up to a mess.

Try following the instructions on AMD’s support site about removing the whole lot and installing it all afresh - using the same version for everything (ie., from the one complete ATI driver/CCC package, don’t mix versions).

So I just came across some info about OpenGL 3.1 and Nvidia.

Nvidia cards down to the GeForce 6 series should support OpenGL 3.1 starting from 182.50 (mid 2009) drivers.

Just thought it might be helpful for for some people.

The drivers added OpenGL support, however you still need an 8-series or newer for it to be supported in hardware.

(Nail) #46

you could try update video drivers but not many if any onboard graphics adaptors will handle OpenGL 3.1

(system) #47

Nope, they can’t handle it.

Intel HD graphics support OpenGL versions as followed:

Arrandale/Clarkdale (2010): OpenGL 2.1
Sandy Bridge (2011): OpenGL 3.0
Ivy Bridge (coming 2012): OpenGL 3.1

People just should know their system and look up the minimum requirements.

Your drivers are too old. Update your drivers and you won’t get this error anymore.

You need to update your video drivers

Your drivers simply are not up to date. It sounds like maybe you just clicked “update driver” in device manager or something. This won’t do anything for you.

Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your laptop’s website. If they still do not work, you can try the generic drivers from AMD/ATI, but they may or may not work depending on any modifications the laptop manufacturer has made in your particular system.

If you post the exact model of your laptop we may be able to point you to the correct drivers more specifically.

Its a Packardbell EasyNote LJ71 if that could help you point the problem out

(Nail) #54

easiest way is to open Steam, click on steam in upper left corner, click on Update AMD/ATI drivers

(Klysan) #55

Sorry but where is that i dont see it.

Is it in the link: www.enemy-territory.com
You sent?

Forget what i just writted i have found it now and hope it will help Thanks for your time and help!

(Klysan) #56

I still dont know how to update my drivers under steam it redirects me to a homepage i have tried.

(Klysan) #57

The link from steam gets me to a homepage i have been trying and i get alot of downloads and such but i dont know which one i should go download to update my driver

(jfunk) #58

Try these:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst115ahotfix.aspx

(to_few) #59

If your still having trouble try this.

Click this link below and select what version of windows your on.
It may not matter as the file covers both win7 and vista 64bit

http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.3.30&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=Windows+7+-+64-Bit+Edition&keywords=&items=20

You should see this clickable link lower down the page, click it and follow instructions…
ATI Catalyst™ Mobility Display Driver for Windows 7 - 64-Bit Edition and Windows Vista - 64-Bit Edition

Once you have the file, run it as admin.
(Your windows is 64 bit because the following sentence has (x86) in it…c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\brink/base)

(Klysan) #60

i hope this will help Thanks!
