what driver i need i dont know what i need to update please help

(SpawnTDK) #6

worst possible gaming scenario … intel graphic chip. dude - you are doomed.

but try newer drivers from

choose your “Operationg System” first then “Drivers”
then download the newest from below

good luck with intel …

(Sheza) #7

Hey,

A lot of people are reporting this problem. The best thing to try first is to update your graphics card drivers.
Nvidea Drivers
AMD Drivers

If you don’t use a dedicated graphics card (Nvidea or AMD - see the PC minimum specs) then you will need to get one in order to play Brink, as integrated cards are not supported.

Thanks,
Sheza

(SpawnTDK) #8

he uses an intel hd chip on a notebook. take a look at the dxdiag.
nvidia or amd driver would be more then ****ed up

Yeah I know, my post qualifies for all three types of graphics card

(epiphone2903) #10

I do realize that I am using an integrated graphics card. I just have never ran into any problems with any other game before. I appreciate the responses, was hoping something else was possible to fix. I will be buying a new graphics card soon to fix this problem.

tried the latest intel driver? postet a link above

any possible help?
windows is saying my drivers are up to date

(Sheza) #13

You should never rely on that. Always read the minimum specs - they don’t include integrated cards.

@foreal: Don’t rely on Windows. Get the latest driver HERE BUT make sure you uninstall then install the 11.5, as shown HERE

So not simply install - installing on top of existing drivers is bad.

I can’t help but wonder how much of this trouble has resulted from driver install after driver install, all on top of each other. When installing a new driver, do an uninstall from the Control Panel, then run a removal tool like Driver Sweeper http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html.

This removes old versions of .dll files, remnants of previous driver installs and irrelevant old registry entries. These can all interfere with optimum performance and sometimes even correct operation of your video card.

I installed my new 6970 over the weekend, running this beforehand to remove my old nVidia stuff. Afterwards, I installed 11.5 but not the Brink hotfix, and I have had ZERO issues and am running smooth as glass with everything turned on/maxxed at 1920x1200.

I’m certain having a clean driver environment has helped with this.

Look through the logs and find this line:

...
This system qualifies for High quality!
Vendor: 8086 Device: 0046
Winsock Initialized
...

The bolded line is an ID for your video card.

Vendor 8086 is Intel
Device 0046 is the Auburndale/Havendale Integrated Graphics Controller
Device 2a42 is the Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller

Neither of these support OpenGL 3.1

No amount of updating drivers will help if this is the case.

They dont care bro, you are on your own. Dont worry you were not the only one SD lied too, when it comes to what compters can run this game. the requirements are a joke.

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570.

"ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4500 Series Product Features

242 million transistors on 55nm fabrication process
Unified Superscalar Shader Architecture
Microsoft® DirectX® 10.1 support
OpenGL 3.2 support
GDDR3/DDR3/DDR2 memory interface (depending on model) – PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus interface
80 stream processing units
12x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) and high performance anisotropic filtering
ATI Avivo™ HD video and display technology1
Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2) for Blu-ray™ and HD Video
    DVD Upscaling
    Dynamic Contrast
Built-in HDMI with 7.1 surround sound support
    DisplayPort™ with audio"

I cant get brink to work either, i get the same error message. So if the the intergrated cards dont work, why does it support OpenGL???

Saxo, have you installed updated drivers? I will note that I’ve seen a number of people on 4xxx series cards getting this issue when clearly their video cards support OpenGL 3.1. And I’m guessing it’s an issue with the OpenGL driver that is on their system, or Brink not properly recognizing the driver as supporting OpenGL 3.1 functions.

Your card supports OpenGL 3.1, but your currently installed drivers do not. A driver update should fix this.

Do note though, that a mobile 4570 is below the minimum requirement so if it does run your performance may not be very good, even after they sort out all the ATI performance issues.
