You know, nice people are glad if someone dropped a CW and congratulate those people instead of saying: “OMG! He is so level 2, he didn’t deserve it, but I do because I have more hours in this game! I play Dirty Bomb because it’s fun, any good drops I get out of it are a bonus. If people feel the need to grind the game for something, they may be missing out on the idea that they could just be playing the game to play the game.

I personally think the RNG model they have in this game is garbage, especially since they also implement the RNG into stuff they sell for actual money, but I just won’t buy that stuff.

I got one CW 100% case from the event, which was a Fletcher with a bad loadout, but that’s okay, because I wasn’t expecting to get anything from the event, and liked the double credits and discounted Mercs.

When you play to get CW loadout as a another skin to your collection, you don’t really care about Game-Play… As for double credits, if you really want that CW you’ll buy cases and cases… And there goes my time and credits. (not only mine, there are probably lots of people that feel like that)

The problem a lot of people have with it is not purely about having a specific skin, getting enough loadouts, or even the drop rates itself. Its also about participation.

I’ve played all month, spend all my credits on cases, tried to squeeze in as much playtime during meltdown and no CW case dropped. A year from now, looking back It will be like:

’ oh yeah there was this cool event during open beta with exclusive skins, new maps and modes… I’m sure glad I have this nice looking skin to remember the event by… NOT’.

I don’t know about you man, but i don’t do dirty bomb for a job. I play to have fun and chill. Normally i don’t play more than a couple of hours per day, because after that it become a grind and stop being fun. On this weekend i played 20 fuggin hours, yesterday evening i had to take a break because i couldn’t play it anymore.
You know what’s more frustrating than grinding in any type of game? Grinding without getting sh*t. That really irks me.
As for the credits, i don’t care right now. I have all the mercs and i’ve already have enough saving to purchase the next one (hopefully Aimee) even if SD release it tomorrow.
You ask why i’m so sure? Because “casually”, since the event started i’ve seen a lot of low levels popping out with random cw loadouts (usually aura, skyhammer and the free mercs). You know what? Before the event i didn’t saw a single frigging CW loadout around, except for people with level 20+ (those purchased them for sure). I don’t believe in coincidences.

And stop insulting other people. If i was in charge of the event i would’ve done the same as the Phoenix event, where everyone got something. At least it would’ve been fair to the people that grinded their arse off the whole weekend. I’m fine a level 2 get one, but i question how legit it is that a guy that may drop the game in two months got them while people that play from a long time get nothing. It’s like i’ve never played in this weekend, nothing to show off in two years (hopefully) that i was there in this event in the beta game.

In my opinion, it sounds like you took getting a skin far too seriously, and turned what should have been a fun game to play into a frustrating job.

No wonder you’re pissed, if I forced myself to play a game that was frustrating me for 64 hours in 3 days just to get some crappy little cosmetic item that I didn’t end up getting I’d be annoyed too, since I would have missed out on getting work done around the house, going to a Thanksgiving party on Saturday, enjoying my weekend sleep, playing other games, etc…

Also, the Devs never promised you that you’d get a case.

But, indeed why don’t us (players that are trying so hard getting it) get nothing, also playing for a long time DB, and that card would mean something to us.
On the other hand there is level 2 player that started playing DB (and many of those players drop the game) gets CW card, and they don’t even know what it is…

I agree the fact that lvl 2s deserve same chance of getting that card, but really… Ive as well seen so many new players playing with CW cards… and its frustrating cause they probably don’t know what it is, and I would give a cobalt for just one shitty CW card!

This whole event should be the definition of unfair!

P.S. Level 2s don’t grind to get it… cause 3rd time… they don’t know what the card is representing. (not saying they are stupid or anything like that, just saying everyone is starting somewhere, and so did I, when I didn’t know a shit about loadout cards in Dirty Bomb)

Aigh, im a bit late to the party, ill ust quickly leave my thoughts here for showcase…

First off, i love this game in its current state, event or no event im hooked. However, I am honestly not sure what was the CW event about…they hyped up these ‘special’ cases so much that it got people confused, and thats not just their fault. Originally, this event was about a series of features being implemented at once, right? Stoker, Dome, Execution, UI changes. Thats nice.

And then those cases. As far as i was concerned, i thought someone painted my usual cases yellow. For free. Nice of him/her! :wink: In some of them i spotted some yellow-ish cards but nothing unusual other than that, my carddrops were the usual. (oh yeah i just got a cobalt Rhino the other day, my first one ever :> 0.1% chance, baby!) I know ppl were talking about some chances to get stuff, i am in no possession of proof of that stuff existing so i dont (cant) care.

Now the meltdown, that was a pretty nice move, i loved the discounts a lot. Especially since they were for the credit prices too! Again, you come with that CW case thing? What case? What card? I got nothing so i cant help you with that, sorry.

But to put down my mask and say the important thing:

  • Why ppl so mad?

They got overhyped about the special skins, and only some of them got anything out of it, and that pissed almost everyone off. The concept was nice but it needs tweaking, especially on the triple-layered RNG. Is it fine to get pissed about free stuff? Yes and no. Its not sensible, but its just the nature of human psyche. They just allowed too much hype to build up and then it just went out of control. Ppl shouldnt think like that? Well, though luck, they already do, cant do anything with that. My opinion is not mainly, that the droprates were unfair, but that they built up too much hype and it backfired.

I do and will continue playing the game regardless, but its important to not drive away cool ppl, and make more advanced financial models.

At some degree I think you are right.
But you also get excited over a cobalt. Why? Its drop rate is 0.1%…
After playing for 5 months, a cobalt isn’t hype to me anymore.
Than there are those CW cards with percentage of 0.3, and they are available only for a month…
At the begining of CW update those cards were something I valued more than cobalt, and at some point even more than obsidian, because its now common around people with that giveaway (which I think was nice thing to do)

Now, I told myself I’ll get a hand on one of those cards because they are so rare… They were to me new cobalts, with ugly skin, but nevertheless something I was excited for…

Later on, I used all my credits on those cases, sacrificing Stoker.

Again later, I could have bought both Stoker and Thunder, but all credits were spent on cases.

Now at CW meltdown, that CW card started being so cheap, reading how everyone has it…
At that point, I started grinding for that card as a memory on event or purely cause of collection.

So what happened is that I “lost” all my credits, didn’t get a card, lost all time I could spent rather looking at wall and thinking about life than spending it on game which eventually became boring.

But yeah, after a whole month and all credits I “lost”, I just couldn’t stop going for that card…

That’s my story of why am I mad.

TL; DR: Spending time and credits whole month to get nothing, not even after it got easy to obtain (CW card)

We can complain about dumb RNG that is designed to squeeze money out of you, and also keep you playing for extended periods of time. I can list at least 3 other F2P games that make money without ridiculous amounts of RNG, albeit some.

It’s just a huge fuck you to all the people who love the game and want to show their dedication in one way or another. Also the prices are insane, just fucking insane.

I do definitely appreciate the 30% and double credits weekend, that was amazing, thanks SD/Nexon.

Every year at the company Christmas party we do a Lollipop tree. (bunch of lollipops stuck in a styrofoam cone) Each lollipop has a monetary value, $50 - $500. So out of 20 people, there are 14 $50 lollipops, 3 $100, 2 $200, and 1 $500. You go around and pull a random lollipop, win the associated money. And every year, there are 3 really happy people, 3 pretty happy people, and 14 meh people.

It’s human nature to be disappointed when you miss out on more/better free stuff, even if you did get something. Because, lets be honest, do you want $50 or $500?
