ok i dotn play as a med often but i was playing as one today and everyone kept tapping out. and i have nothign to do except rambo med.
is there a command for server admins or refs where you can prevent people from tapping out, but let them tap if its like 5 secs from respawn or team med is dead?
I’ve never heard of such a setting. It’s frustrating, but that’s life on pubs. I play med a lot, and I usually play a balance between rambo and anchor medic; I frag my butt off but I’ll duck away to run to your aid if you need me. All you can do is be thankful for the people who wait for a revive, because those are the knowledgeable players. I wait 'till the last second, and even past that if I see a med headed my way on my compass.
On another note, this may sound lame, but if I’m on a pub and my team has 5 covert snipers, I tend to ignore them a little. I’ll heal them if there’s nothing going on and I’m nearby, but I certainly won’t go out of my way to revive some newbie who will be dead again in 15 seconds and is just plinking at the enemy to practice their shooting and mostly missing.
Rule of thumb: Engineers matter most, and covert ops main priority is spotting mines and opening doors.
In an unlimited lifes game there isn’t much of a reason to let a medic revive a lot of the time. Who wants to come back at (most likely) low health and (most likely) low ammo? Unless the spawn timer is very high and they are real far from spawn, most will tap.
I like to wait…I love the needle rush…especially the green goodness…NNNNNNNN Yeah! Stick it to me baby!
Seriously, show your medics some lovin’ and they’ll watch your health meter that wee bit closer. When medic, I make a point of “guarding” & topping up patient people who’ll trust me to at least try that revive.

Exactly. Works best with a good FO. So revivees are healthed and ammoed.
when im a med, i like to sneak up on my enemy (when there on a mg42 or just stupid and running without looking behind them)
give them full health and then knife them, its funny. and its horrably cruel.
works best with noobies.

Aint nothin wrong with that, i tend to ignore anyone that is
A:xp whoring
B:noob
C:just not doing the objective
i only heal, and or follow people that actually PLAY the game and not just dick around on pub servers.
a good medic can often drag an engineers ass to the objective and win the game.
granted, the eng needs to not tap out and put some faith in the medic.
sure, if I’m like close tot he spawn point and the spawn timer is about to go, I’ll just tap out, no biggie, i’m sure the medic won’t get that mad.
but tapping out at key situations in hostile territory is critical to if the entire attack force gets eliminated, or winning the game. And if you’re that close to the objective, I’m sure missing the spawn clock for another 30 seconds isn’t gonna make that much of a diff. I’d rather take the risk and hope that nearby medic can revive me.
Don’t you just hate it when there’s a body lying somewhere, surrounded by enemies - screaming “I NEED A MEDIC, I NEED A MEDIC, I NEED A MEDIC” on end and when you’re almost there, shooting like crazy while dodging enemy fire, you take out your needle and suddenly a gun pops out of the body and while you’re dying you realize the timer just hit 30…
I will never heal you again if you pull this trick on me :bash:
I still experience the “auto tap-out” bug sometimes, whereby I’m dead and patiently awaiting revive, I can even see the Med steaming towards me, when suddenly, without touching mouse or keyboard, I’ll tap out anyway. As Med is/was my primary Class I can fully sympathise with the poor guy ranting at me for tapping out just as he was about to revive me and can only apologise saying “it wasn’t me guv, honest!”
Also remember, good players will always gib bodies. So you may be on your way to revive but the enemy who just put him down pumps a few more bullets into him before you get there.
So next time you get to the dead body only to see the gun pop out as you’re about to revive remember, he may not have tapped out deliberately.
As a general rule of thumb I would also revive Engys first and Coverts last. An Engy with Med backup can get so much more done as opposed to an Engy on their own, like building the Bridge on Fueldump or the Ramp on Battery. As I tend to play Engy more than Med now I really appreciate a good Med backing me up, and really feel it when they’re aren’t any.
Hehe, sometimes I tk people who do this to me more than twice. Does that make me a bad person?[/quote]
Maybe, but do it on any server I Admin (see sig) and you’ll soon get kicked and/or banned.

[/unqoute]I think if someone has the ingratitude to watch me running through a hail of fire only to tap out when i am a few feet away, I have the right to express my anger to them. The people who do this never seem to read your desperate pleas either, “Please don’t tap if a medic is close, really please it will help your team”. If someone gets me killed more than a few times, and they still don’t react when I’m asking them to wait for me, then they deserve a TK as far as I’m concerned.
Fair play to you Kendle for kicking people who TK off your server, but I’m sure you have felt this frustration yourself in the past. Then again maybe I just get too worked up when I’m playing this bloody game and things aren’t going well.
No-one deserves a TK, or a complaint for that matter, as by doing so you’re saying that your opinion, your judgment, is superior to theirs. It isn’t.
They may have tapped out deliberately in order to change Class (it just so happened they got killed before they could do a /kill). They may not have tapped out out deliberately (because of the tap-out “bug” or because they were gibbed) and just don’t feel like explaining themselves to you. Either way, you TK them and you’re as good as saying your opinion is more valid than theirs, and the way you play the game is better than theirs.
Yes, I have felt the same frustration many times, and not just at players who tap out a split second before my needle hits them. But you don’t TK someone cos they piss you off, under any circumstances.
There’s a server side setting for that (can’t remember what it is off the top of my head), which limits the number of quickchats someone can issue in a given period of time. Pity as me and my Clan-mates spam the hell out of vsay_team FTAttack on our server. Small things please small minds I guess.
I hate it when someone taps out on me ,especially when the paitent is surrounded by enemy players because i like to use the few seconds of invulnerability the freshly revived teammate has as a human shield.
Once the guy trying to shoot me has run out of ammo i just stand up and blast them.
If they tap out as i’m about to revive them i’ve had it because my human sheild won’t be there and i end up on a long spawn.
I don’t know what you mean about spamming quickchats Kendle
You’re right Kendle, this is not as straightforward as it seems.
As a general rule, tap out immediately after getting killed if you have a reason to respawn, before a medic gets close with his needle out; and don’t ever tap out if a medic is going to revive you even if the spawntime hits 0. He needs you as a shield, if you tap out he’s dead, if you don’t you’re both alive (well maybe )
Or let him revive you and use /kill if there is time, he won’t be pissed and he gets his XP, you get your respawn.
Another rule to be nice for the medics: if you died just after pulling the pin out of a grenade, TAP OUT IMMEDIATELY! It’s not nice for the medic to run over to revive you only to be tked by your grenade.
No that would spoil my enjoyment, I like to gamble when reviving a player while his nade is lying next to him - most of time you can get them and jump away
