Suggestions for 1.3 patch in ET

hmmm… It’s been almost 2 years since 1.2 was released…
anyone know if Splash Damage is looking forward to patch 1.3?

it might sound stupid… but personally, i want REAL voice chat to be added
(actual voice chat using your microphone as in counter strike)

because although there is voice chat (technically it should be called radio chat), some times it is very difficult to communicate with your teammates just using the voice chat.

Some people might abuse voice chat and use it as spamming tool but i think there will be more pros than cons.

Splashdamage is now working on a secret project which is so awfully secret we can conclude it’s not going to be finished anytime soon

ET is a free game. So…why would they make a patch and not to be payed for making the patch.
I don’t think there will be any patches for ET. Just only for Mods, as ETPro and so forth.

I’d guess the chances of major new features (like integrated voice coms) are zero. However, it sure would be nice to get some of the more annoying bugs fixed, especially the engine ones that can’t be fixed by mods. It would be a really good thing not just for the ET community, but for all the mods that are coming to the ET engine. My priorities would be the download bugs, the profile.pid silliness, and anything that can remotely crash/disconnect servers or clients. Anything else would just be icing on the cake, with the obvious place to start being bugs in the gamecode that were already identified and fixed in mods.

They do have parts of the engine, so it’s quite possible for them to release a server side patch.

Well enough about the 1.3 patch… what about the 1.4 patch?! Surely that will be far superior to the 1.3 patch WHEN it comes out. My only problem is they will probably nerf things in 1.4 oh noes. Well, I’ll whine enough so they fix it in 1.5… er…

I’m not quite sure I follow your logic here. " 0% of people called Nail know this" so… NOBODY named Nail knows that? And should therefore shut the hell up? I’m confused. I know what you meant to say… was it something like “100% of people named Nail”?

besides they have the code for ETTV, not bug fixing the engine

ps. Im being told due to ET engine weirdness ETF servers can start to generate errors after a couple of days, and the reccomendation is to restart them about every two weeks. Havent seen it yet myself since ETF server doesnt stay up for such a lengthy period as 18 cough err 48 hours. The coming patch is supposed to fix the stability but they cant do anything about the 2days/2weeks thing. Chances of me still running an ETF server in a weeks time?
