Steam Greenlight is here

(Dragonji) #81

Any news?

(acQu) #82

Jup, Steam sucks …

:penguin:

(Mateos) #83

Gaben gonna get ya

(jacKfIsher05) #84

That would be good, but i don’t think that Splash Damage will do somethingt. I’ll be happy to see the game on Steam, because the game is not dead.

WolfET on Steam = stable anti-cheat system, no hackers and cheaters, great support, many new user made content - just perfect.

Let’s hope that the guys from Splash Damage will say something about that.

(badman) #85

As I said earlier in the thread, this decision sadly isn’t up to us. While we developed the game, the Wolfenstein property is owned by ZeniMax (who also own id Software and Bethesda). If you’d like to see ET on Steam, the best places to contact are Beth and id.

(Domagoj) #86

but maybe you can email them also, then this whole thing might get serious…

(Gabri22) #87

I am only an esl admin and my words dont count much, thats why they havent answered till now. But maybe you could contact them just to know what they are thinking so we dont hope in vain…

(Dormamu) #88

I am pretty sure they contacted ZeniMax about this, but you must understand that the hard part is supposed to be done by us, not the developers. Do not expect ZeniMax to give away their property just because we send 1-5 e-mail’s and write on some walls. Tho, is it true that an e-mail from SD staff is worth 1000-5000 casual e-mail’s, is at the end of the day just 1 person.
We could send an e-mail (not spamming the same e-mail 100 times) explaining: why we want W:ET on Steam, what was your experience in W:ET, etc. As long as your story is emotional you will strike a nerve. (If you don’t know or can’t think of some emotional story just send them a "Tank You Note for allowing W:ET to be on Greenlight). You could send an e-mail to every clan/faction/gathering/web/magazine/publication/game_developer that you now is related or not to W:ET, even if you think it will not mean much, petitions/web banners/graffiti/posts/thread/etc. the more people know/want this the more chances are that Bethesda/id would consider your request.
The real question is:“How bad do you want Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory on Steam Greenlight?”

(Domagoj) #89

so this discussion is becomin a bit outdated…any news about it?

(.Chris.) #90

It’s not as easy as someone sat at a desk at HQ simply saying “yes”.

(your_mother) #91

Well I’m still waiting for Gabri22 if he’ll bring some news if not I’m going to organize the petition

(Dormamu) #92
This is a great idea! Enemy Territory is owned by ZeniMax, so this move is up to them.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, everyone! Great to see so much love for it.
At this moment i think this W:ET on Greenlight is bound to fail.
So… i would rather see W:ET on WarChest/FireTeam, this way they could test the system to see if it is good for the MP, ZeniMax would see if this new game platform is good for their future games, we would be happy :D, SD would have the players they need for their upcoming game/beta, and it will ease the transition to their next game. We will use W:ET to iron out bugs on the WarChest/FireTeam, test the new anticheat system, and the ideas about laders new stuffs for the unannounced game. Everybody wins
So, SD, do you considered this for a viable solution, rather than saying: give away the game, you could use your knowledge/influence to ask ZeniMax/id if they are willing to give “You” W:ET to test/implement it on WarChest :D. If they ask for the money, you could post the amount they ask so we can see if we can raise some/all of them

(Gabri22) #93

Info to all:

We are still working on this project, it is taking a lot to contact the people we need.
I’ll keep you up to date

(jacKfIsher05) #94

It’s easy when you want make it, but it’s hard when you do nothing.

(twt_thunder) #95

This is very true, and with these on board of directors on zenimax:

Robert A. Altman
Chairman & CEO

Ernest Del
President

Jerry Bruckheimer
Jerry Bruckheimer Films

Michael Dominguez
Managing Director, Providence Equity Partners Inc.

Leslie Moonves
President & CEO, CBS Corporation

Cal Ripken, Jr.
President & CEO, Ripken Baseball, Inc.

Harry E. Sloan
Chairman, Global Eagle Acquisition Corp.

Robert S. Trump
President, Trump Management, Inc.

guess they are so full of money they give a **** about the whole comunity and don’t see what they really can earn from this…
It would bring non Steam players to Steam
It would probably do so more games would be bought because of curiosity…
It makes next generation of developers (just wait and see)

well there is a long list of + to add but my opinion is that they see this as non profit and it will never happend.
So I guess when all comes around its still up to the community to keep W:ET alive.

Myself I’ve been looking around on other games and even tried some. But nothing gives the same fun as ET.
Easier game to make mods and maps for I havent found.
ET can be whatever you like it to be.

Me and Jenkins are creating a full mod making ET modern style with same gameplay, since its the gameplay that makes this game unique…
All new games seems to be moneymachines with no chance for a clan server without paying the white of the eye…
no binaries released for server hosting…

And if we cant get it on Steam then I hope this community of great creators also can come up with a guid system and a anti cheat that works themselves just to keep the game alive…

Sorry for long post… I’ll stopp now

(Mateos) #96

Just compare the size of Zenimax with ET. I think ET isn’t even a point near it x)

Why would they care for few hundred people, and put money in converting a such free game (Because time is money, and if they had to do the necessary it would cost money).

I would like it on Steam, but it’s only a dream.

(Dragonji) #97

Money? A lot of people would be glad if they could do something for this game as a hobby!

(Mateos) #98

So take the case “Zenimax accepts that a group of fans make it”.

Maybe ET:Legacy. Second “if”: if the Legacy team accept the challenge. Or, we have the game, quite fixed… Now, you need an anti-cheat software: this is the second “if”, maybe TZAC for the base Legacy and mods. And now, third “if”: mods support. Will they be adapted to Legacy, or will Legacy be adpated to it? And ETPro?

Really, the path is long. Maybe too long. Sadly.

(Domagoj) #99

well I get lil back in time when master list was down for 6 months or so, i think we sohuld be happy for what we currently have, its not much but still good

(Dragonji) #100

Anybody knows what happened to bani? Is there any way to contact him? Is SD able to find him?

The perfect world would look like this:

ET:L team, bani and chaplja works on the new version of ET:L with fully integrated TZAC. After that bani releases ETPro 3.3

Good that dreaming is not prohibited (yet).
