Sprinting VS strafe jumping

strafe jumping vs sprinting

To solve this once in for all, time to use some stereotypes of some people.

You can say Quake games are a culture of people, and Enemy Territory games are another culture of people.

ETQW happens to be a half breed.

Strafe jumping is a way of life of the Quake games.

Just think about real half breeds in real life. My brother’s friend is a half breed.

So what happens if Enemy Territory wants it so that it is gameplay that takes away strafejumping, but Quake games encourages it.

Now everyone knows, by convention of naming, you get the father’s last name, except for some cases.

Who’s the father here? ET, or Q?

(B0rsuk) #42

Ok, I’ll say it again.

Enemy Territory:Quake Wars .

The word Quake isn’t even a noun here. It acts like an adjective to subtitle.

Oh please, I hope tha was meant as a joke. Chineese actually place familiy name first. This means Mao Zedong (or whatever he’s spelled in your country) is Zedong of family Mao.

(signofzeta) #43

Of course, I’m chinese. Still Enemy Territory is the father, and Quake is the mother for ETQW. Now it is always the father’s name that goes to the kid.

ETQW got the storyline and character model genes from the mother. It got the gameplay style from the father.

Have they said if running is unlimited or if you can strafe jump?

(Nail) #45

iirc, no stamina bar, to me that means unlimited running

(joss) #46

without strafe jumping, ET would be dead

(Floris) #47

Both ET and Quake feature strafejumping, so why remove it from a combination of both?

I understand people want a Realistic team based FPS like Battlecrap, but then bugfree, but at the same time many ET players including myself want it to be faced paced and largely depending on personal skill. I can tell you for one thing that us ET competition players have a natural hate for vehicles and we wont even try playing with them in competition.

In ET there is fast movement, and a lot of aiming skill required to play competively, but still you wont get anywhere without teamplay.

Borsuk, is the reason why you are so much against strafejumping maybe because you never learned how to do it properly?

(jeeves) #48

i’m sure he is against it cause it looks ridiculous in a game like this.

(Flesh) #49

Couse its not the same game, same rules don’t apply. If anything QW is a lot diffrent from its predecessors.

(Floris) #50

Flesh, thats just a reason to justify the removal, not the reason why they should

jeeves, maybe you think it isnt suitable but a lot of people do think it is, so what you are stating is just a personal opinion

(jeeves) #51

of course it is an opinion, just like everyone else haha. but it seems like a lot more ppl like the sprinting idea more.

(Flesh) #52

Florisjuh I meant that SD removed strafe jumping becouse basicly it does not suit QW gameplay, ergo QW will be a better game without it. Face it, strafe jumping doesn’t belong in the game. I dont know that for shure, you don’t either but if anyone knows it than it’s SD. And SD decided to remove sj.

What other possible reason for removing it is there? (if you want more specific reasons then read the rest of the thread)

(signofzeta) #53

Have you thought of it this way. SD decided to remove Strafejumping, because it will break the game MORE than it will improve it?

Some sacrifices must be made you know. Not every game can have this or that. Maybe they thought, let’s add strafejumping, then tried to do it, but then tried to do other new features, but does not work with strafjumping in it.

There are reasons within the development team to not include strafejumping, and siding with the non skilled isn’t one of them.

I have a solution… Strogg should strafe jump… marines should sprint now that would rock!

(jjpron) #55

As a married dad with kids, I don’t have a lot of time to play, so I’ve never been able to sink enough time to learn strafe jumping, circle jumping or trickjumping.
So I welcome this change. I think it will level the playing field in firefights.
Maybe I’ll be able to learn some cool vehicle trickjumps, or some nice aerial combat manouvers though.
Just for the record, I can’t wait for the game to come out, I’ve got my preorder and everything.

(signofzeta) #56

Speaking of vehicle tricks, I want to do husky quad bike tricks with the tricked out suspension lol.

Also doing those lowrider tricks on the hog truck.

(B0rsuk) #57

Speaking of lame tricks, have you noticed that - apparently - trickplants are gone ? Now you have to literally put the charge on objective.

(kamikazee) #58

That has a good reason - vehicles and trickplants won’t make a good combination.

(murka) #59

find a ramp, hit it on max speed and jump over that fence xD
