I’m watching these ET demos from clanbase, and I noticed some clans are using some sort of script that shows the enemy spawntimings. Since these clans post these demos at CB I suppose this is not considered as cheating, so my question is easy: where can I get this handy script?

some guy i know his old clan used to have one for RTCW, they used to use one in there matches, there captian had a scrift and he told me how useful it was, it would be cool to know wat to do and get one etc

I dont see why anyone would need one really, I mean let say you see em spawn at 14.43 and the spawn time on the map is 30 seconds. Then you know they will spawn 14.13, 13.43. 13.13 etc. Well I’m not much for that kind of scripting aid at least.

bind key 30 menu start
bind key 20 menu start

30 menu:
binds 1,2,3,0
0 opens 0-9 menu
1 opens 10-19 menu
2 opens 20-29 menu
3 changes enemyspawn to “enemy spawns @ 00/30”

0-9 menu binds 1-9 as 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
these set enemyspawn to “enemy spawns @ 0#/3#”

pretty much same thing for other 2 menus

20 menu:
pretty much thing, but set up with output similar to:
“enemy spawns @ 0#/2#/4#” ect…

So after you see an enemy spawn, and note the time, you use the menu to input the spawn

You thne hit the bind key vstr enemyspawn to output their spawntimes. this has to be done manually.

note: after the # keys have been used, they rebind them to what they should be.

The full script will be very large…

But you still have to watch for spawn and announce it after noting the time; what did the scripts you saw do, Bokkem?

Yes you do, and there are no scripts or external spawn timer programs available to get round it.

Most Clans probably use external spawn timer programs, like Heron, rather than scripts anyway.

what did the scripts you saw do

I’ve seen it in demos from several clans, so it’s not a clan specific tool or script. It’s shows a countdown every five seconds in yellow fonts between red brackets. It reads something like: [ALLIES spawn in 10 seconds].
I noticed it also shows a line when that user is reloading. When I’m at home tonight, I’ll have a look at that tool that mouse mentioned and post the name of a demo that features the spawnscript. Thanks everyone for their replies!

We (Destination Skyline) don’t. And I don’t know any clans that actually do. As far as I know Heron’s spawntimer is considered a cheat but I’m not sure if PB reports it. The author of the program has made it however easy for PB to detect it. In the readme there are few cvars that you need to add to you pb-checklist.

I don’t know many RTCW Clans that don’t! But then things may be different in ET.

Personally I think it would be better if they weren’t used, but then how would you enforce it? There are others besides Heron, and some give an audio output rather than push text into RTCW/ET like Heron does.

That sounds like cheating to me. Spawn times are crucial when you’re trying to capture a forward spawn. If i knew the enemy spawn time then I’d capture it right before they spawned so it would take them the longest to get back here. It’s a big advantage to the people that use this trick. It’s no different than any other cheat because it gives an advantage to some, but not others.

Not if both Clans are using one, and that’s the only circumstance in which I’d consider spawn-timers “OK” to use. On public servers they shouldn’t be used, just as I don’t think using Voice Comms is fair on publics, yet all Clans use them in Clan wars.

btw, why would you think this is a cheat, if you see axis spawn @ 05 seconds, if you would say to your team they will respawn @ 35, you are a cheater? if you use a prog for it, u so you dont have to memorize it, you are a cheater?

Laughable. There is no difference between memorizing the spawntime, writing it down, using a stopwatch (imagine) and using a script of some kind. Or is the spawtime so sacret that you shouldn’t even see the enemy spawn at all? :clap:

So having to first go find out when the enemies spawn, getting the time, entering it into a script/writing it down, and then saying it every so often, taking a lot of time from one player on the team is exactly like not having to do any of that, and getting their spawn times for free?

I have no real problem with the long method, as its really just you saying it, but a program that does it for you is most definitly cheating.

Not that I find the long annoying method to be of any help though, I generally have to /ignore people who use these on pubs.

The program does EXACTLY the same as the long version you described, the only thing it does for you is announce it. Who’s /ignorant now. :wink:

Why not just fight him on even terms and and leave the spawn kamping to those that can’t.
